Brandon was the ringbearer in Teddy and Eunice’s wedding this past weekend.  So we drove down on Thursday night, right in the middle of the UCLA game.  Luckily they won, but we weren’t able to listen to it on the radio, only updates on the sports channels and from my mom.  We stayed over half way, then headed out again the next morning.  We met Teddy and Eunice for lunch, then went over to the tux shop for a fitting with the flower girls.  Brandon had a great time trying his suit on and flirting with the girls.  He got along with both, but insisted on giving more hugs to Claudia, the “older” flower girl (she was 2 ½).   They were copying each other and playing together.  Afterwards, we went over to the church for rehearsal.  The aisle was so long; I think it was the longest aisle I’d ever seen.  I was worried that Brandon wasn’t going to make it all the way down.   Morgan, the younger flower girl, (one month younger than Brandon), started crying during rehearsal.  Brandon didn’t mind walking by himself, but he kept getting stopped by Randy and DC who’d high-five him or pick him up along the way.  He practiced a few times, the last of which, he stood up at the altar where Teddy and Eunice were going to be.  He was standing in the middle of the bridal party, wondering why everyone was laughing at him.  Everyone soon realized that he was born for this job.  Rehearsal dinner was fun, hanging out with all the groomsmen.  Brandon slept through the first part of dinner, then woke up and ate with Randy.  We headed home not wanting to keep Brandon up too late.

Debbie helped me keep Brandon entertained.  We were a bit worried because Brandon was pounding his stars and cheerios that I had brought for him.  We were almost down to the last ones before the end of the ceremony.  At the end of the ceremony, I sent him out into the aisle to follow the flower girls with their parents.  I didn’t go myself because I was cleaning up the stars from the floor.  He took a few steps then turned around and asked for Daddy.  I told him Dave was at the end of the aisle and to go look for him (I lied).  He then walked all the way down the aisle in search of Dave who was making himself up the aisle.  They met each other at the end and waited for me.  We left Brandon for the first time with Dave’s parents.  They wanted us to call them to check in on them, but we just left them alone.  We were too busy having fun.  They had plenty of toys to keep him occupied.  The hotel even gave him a little backpack with some activities, which was pretty cool.  Back to the wedding – it was fun catching up with all the college friends.  We lasted until about 1030pm.  In the “old” days, we used to close down weddings, no matter how late they went.  But by that time, we were dead tired.  We also knew that we were going to Disneyland the next day, so we didn’t want to be too tired.  We promised a little boy we’d be going, since he did such a great job at the wedding.  We wished the bride and groom a great honeymoon, and Kathleen drove us back to our hotel nearby.  I can’t believe Teddy is married. 

This is what Dave gets for not coming to Theresa’s birthday party with Brandon and me.  The girls suggested Brandon hold the troublesome truck to make the picture a little more manly.  But somehow even that and the hockey jersey can’t compete with a feather boa 🙂 .
