Reliving events

Today, it’s 12/8/08; I didn’t blog back “in the day” but here are some highlights from 2007; I kept these memories in a calendar that my mom made from 2006 pictures.  The other 2006 memories are in a baby book.  I used to journal to Brandon…

3/6/07 – Can point to Elmo -> “Elmo, Elmo” but also point to Cookie Monster and say the same
3/10/07 – When you walk, it’s with your arms straight up in the air like we’re still holding you up
3/22/07 – words: apple, nana(banana), wow-wow (dog)
4/3/07 – when you look at a picture of a boy and we ask, “Who’s a boy?” you point with one finger on each hand to yourself
4/5/07 – Butterfly: flap your hands like they’re flying
4/8/07 – we had a modified Easter Egg Hunt -> we showed you the egg, then hid it behind a pillow in front of you.  Then you moved the pillow and found the egg!  We’ll challenge you next year.
4/10/07 – “Ba-ba Di-Di” translation: Bye-Bye Daddy
4/11/07 – Daddy taught you how to dry your hands – just shake them back and forth to dry them!  You learn lots from Daddy
4/12/07 – Picked you up at school, and all the other kids had a piece of artwork but you.  When I asked Carol why you didn’t have something, she replied, “Once Brandon learns not to eat the crayons or paint, he’ll have art, too.” 
4/13/07 – Brandon and Gregory – Baby sumo wrestling – was there a pin?  Did you make HIM say, “Uncle”?  We called it a draw.
4/14/07 – Said, “Hi” and “bye” to Kenny and Rachel at dinner
4/15/07 – “It’s cold” prompts you to bring your hand up to your cheek!
4/16/07 – Artwork!  Points to the doggy’s eye and then your own eye and Mommy’s eye.  Says, “Eye” similar to your greeting “Iii” (Hi without the “H”)
4/19/07 – You were eating cereal in your Elmo bowl and when you finished, you walked into the kitchen with one hand on either side and said, “More?” 
4/20/07 – Future Assets meeting with Carol and Elyn – need to change somethings for school.  Your 1st nap: 2 hours in the big boy bed!!  Slept in Big Boy bed all by yourself for a nap and then overnight. 
4/21/07 – Daddy woke up with you twice, hopefully you will sleep all night long in your Big Boy bed (in our room).  You didn’t drink milk (from Mommy) at all last night!  Go Baby (and thank you, Daddy!)
4/22/07 – You woke up but not as long as the first night, you learn so quickly!
4/23/07 – Riding your zebra naked!  You love coming up behind us for a big hug – sometimes you even scare us!
4/24/07 – Greeted those at day care, “I” and “bye-bye”
4/25/07 – Now, “Who’s the big boy?”  You still know – it’s you!  You point to yourself 🙂
4/26/07 – Second painting!
4/27/07 – You said, “Gai gai” went to the door and tried to get out.  Then you brought over one shoe and tried to put it on yourself.  You had to get the other shoe, then we put both on and went for a walk.  We bought a pair of 4/5 crocs – Navy blue!  Until you can fit the baby blue 6/7 Crocs that Auntie Michelle gave you. 
4/28/07 – we let you walk from the garage all the way upstairs into the elevator.  You even know which way to turn to come home.  You are so happy to be free and walking on your own. 
4/29/07 – When Mommy asks for a kiss, you turn and give a peck!  Sitting in the back seat with you, you reached out to Mommy’s chin with your grubby, little fingers.
4/30/07 – “Book?  Book?” you hand Mommy a book because you want to read!
5/1/07 – Octopus = “Ah-Bah-Da“; you love to sit right in our laps to read a book or to eat something.  You’re so cuddly – you like kissing your doggy, too. 
5/2/07 – Walk around after dinner, rubbing your tummy – like a real man!
5/3/07 – Can point to a “bus” and also “bike” you love things with wheels
5/4/07 – Give kisses – you pucker up and lean in with a “smack”; can talk to grandma on speaker phone to wish her happy birthday!
5/5/07 – Went to the park while Daddy played softball – you can climb up the slide all by yourself!
5/6/07 – “No” (you furl your brown and make a funny face with your mouth) so serious; shaking your head
5/7/07 – Happy 15 months!
5/9/07 – You know what you want (and don’t want) when Mommy was feeding you blackberries, strawberries and banana pieces.  You shook your head “no” until you got the right piece.  When you knocked the bowl over, you pointed to Daddy to help Mommy and were so concerned. 
5/11/07 – Bought your tux for Uncle Kenny and Auntie Rachel’s wedding – when we were trying them on, you were running around the store with the tux on and laughing at the mirror.
5/13/07 – Second Mother’s day – went to Bok Bok’s house for a pot luck!  “Up! Up!” with your hands and arms up in the air.

5/15/07 – Went out to dinner and Auntie Kathleen spilled hot tea on Mommy – you started wailing thinking Mommy was hurt.  It did hurt, but Mommy had to smile and convince you that I was “Ok.”
5/16/07 – You don’t like any motorized sound – you run from the vacuum cleaner, garbage disposal, and even can opener.
5/18/07 – At Auntie Laurie’s dance recital, you were dancing on your own to “Sexy Back” and flexed your arms and swayed back and forth while watching in the audience.  15 month check up: weight: 24 pounds, 6 ounces, Height: 33 inches, Head circumference 19″
5/19/07 – Dance – dance: you are such a ham!
5/20/07 – Went to the Children’s discovery museum – you learned “bubbles” then went to Target and you saw the bubble makers there and said, “Bubbles” and pointed to the “bikes”. 
5/21/07 – Met coach Ben Howland and took a family picture.  Daddy asked Coach to recruit you in 18 years – he told Daddy, “Well, you’re tall”.  Daddy was happy
5/22/07 – “Abadidi” is what you say when you see a baby.  You point to Baby Katie and say, “Abadidi
5/23/07 – Pointed to the picture of a “puffin” and said, “Duck!” very distinctly
5/24/07 – Hit your head and said, “Ow” and started rubbing your head.  You weren’t hurt.
6/12/07 – Giggling/laughing in your sleep!  Sometimes you cry, too.
6/14/07 – Walking around with Daddy’s sandals -definitely big shoes to fill.
6/15/07 – While reading a parenting magazine, you saw a picture of a baby and gave it a kiss (twice) – is it time for another?
6/16/07 – Our little inventor – a new pair of skates: you’re standing on two lids of gladware and trying to skate around.  As they flip over to the “wrong” side, you bend down, and flip them back so determined to get them to work.
6/18/07 – You figured out how to put Alexander back together until Grandma changed the order of the pieces.  You need reinforcement – each time you are successful, you look for praise.  Even when you aren’t right, you want praise.
6/19/07 – New routine: 6am – wake up and come crying to my sid e of the bed, lift you up, feed you and sleep again until 715am
6/22/07 – Said, “Boob” after you repeated me; you squeezed me and I shouted to Daddy, “Oh, you pinched my boob!”
6/23/07 – First sentence: “That’s a bike” pointing to the bikes at Grandma’s house.  You listened and gave a hug/kiss to Marc, Grandma and Yi-pah.  Pointed to fireplace at Grandma’s (like you do at home) and said, “Hot, hot!”
6/27/07 – Ate breakfast – cereal with milk and a spoon.  Last time Day-Day gave you cereal only, and you asked for “milk, milk” so now you can use a spoon to eat your cereal.  Carol told Day-day that she didn’t have to worry about waste because you’d eat every bit.  Mommy tried to watch, but you kept saying, “Bye-bye” at school. 
7/3/07 – Plan ride down to LA!
7/4/07 – Swimming at Abby’s grandparents – didn’t like being in the boat in the deep-end.
7/5/07-7/6/07 – 2nd annual Disneyland trip – last year, you didn’t mind pirates.  This year,  you were relaxed, kicking back in the boat, and after that 1st drop, your body was so tense and you turned around and clung to me like a monkey.  You loved “It’s a Small World” clapping your hands and dancing.  Our first day we were with Abby and you enjoyed passing stickers back and forth between the strollers.  The 2nd day you met Alana Velez. 
7/8/07 – You saw all 4 grandparents on the same day in two different cities.
7/12/07 – You now whisper and point to the fireplace, “It’s hot” – you also point to the fire in all of the books, meters for the gas company, stove , dishwasher, food, you know to blow on food to cool it off, but you also blow on the fireplace?
7/13/07 – “Poot” – fart or poop; you were eating oatmeal on a towel with your spoon.  You ended up getting oatmeal on your finger and had to stop eating and said, “Dirty” as you held up your dirty finger; you were able to eat again after we wiped off your finger.
7/14/07 – With Gavin, Diana, Kenny and Rachel, you pointed to the TV and said, “Water, water” meanwhile ripping two farts off, like you were creating a diversion in order to fart.  At dinnertime, you were “in the zone” with your spoon.  You dipped into your bowl then Daddy’s noodle bowl then back to your bowl.  You didn’t look at anyone or anything else but the food.  While reading a book by yourself, you found and identified a “hammer”. 
7/16/07 – Mommy was coughing and you reached over and hugged my throat – were you trying to make me feel better?
7/20/07 – While shopping outside of Pottery Barn at dusk, you suddenly looked up and saw “Moon”; it was faintly there.  Then two young women turned around to look at you which prompted an “oh-no”.
7/21/07 – During the daytime, you still saw the moon and pointed it out.
7/27/07 – Another teacher conference – need to be more gentle with other kids 🙁
7/28/07 – “Brandon, no.  Brandon, no.”  Is what you repeat over and over.  Do we say it that much?
7/29/07 – Rode lots on your bike today.  Much better about saying and wearing your helmet.
8/1/07 – Started ritual of saying goodnite to your classmates – then you interjected, “Cawol” – just to make sure we didn’t miss Miss Carol.  You always laugh when we say “Papa” also.
8/2/07 – “Night night, To-to (Tori), Night night, Adi, Night night, Dec-Dec (Declan), Night night, Jesselyn, Night night Komal, Night night, Sammy, Night night, Liad, Night night, James, Night night, Koko, Night night, Day-Day, Night night, Carol” and usually you are out.
8/3/07 – UPS delivered a box and when we went to pick it up, I asked you what it was.  You responded, “Shoes!” and you were right!  It was a similar box we saw earlier in the week and they were sending another size – so smart!
8/4/07 – Had a fever today, but as usual you played and acted like nothing was wrong.  You even woke up early from your nap just to eat!  We had dim sum, so can’t blame you.
