Sleep has returned!

Peyton had been on/off sleeping through the night and sometimes getting up for random requests (jellyfish!). I re-instituted the alarm in her room, and she is to stay in her room until she hears the alarm. She’d been doing great without it, being really consistent until our most recent set of vacations. Tough love, part ???

Tonight, Dave stayed at work late, so I had kid duty. I didn’t know this until about 330pm, so I hadn’t really planned accordingly. Good thing we had leftovers from the weekend, so I got the kids fed quickly. I was eating a piece of salami we’d gotten at Costco over the weekend, while Brandon was telling me how his tummy hurt because he ate chips and salsa with jalapenos. He didn’t want the whole wheat tortilla because it was wheat, and he didn’t want the American cheese because of what I’d told him it was made of. So, as he was eating his chicken and green beans, he asked me for salami. I told him he’d had enough junk for the day, but he could have yogurt and fruit if he was still hungry. He burst into tears and told me that Daddy would give it to him. I told him Daddy wasn’t there, and that he probably wouldn’t give it to him. I again offered him the yogurt, and I told him he could eat it or put it away. I then had Peyton upstairs to take a bath. Brandon shouted after me, “You’re too mean to be a Mommy!” I was calm, and just did my thing with Peyton. He took his revenge by going poop right before I put Peyton in the bath. She was choking, trying not to smell it, but he did do a number on the bathroom. I gave her a quick bath, then we headed downstairs to do a puzzle. I told Brandon to take a bath, brush his teeth, and go to his room to calm down. He did all he was told, and then shouted downstairs, “I’m just going to read my library books! By myself.” I did not respond, but just sat patiently waiting for Peyton to put her 100 piece princess puzzle together. Eventually, calm Brandon made his way downstairs, with his library books. I’d gotten a whole series on feelings, anger management, and processing emotions. I think it was funny he was reading those to calm himself down. It seemed to work, as he asked Peyton politely if he could join her and do the larger-pieced puzzle. She said, “Oh, sure, you can. You can do the 48 or 24 piece puzzle if you want.” So, Brandon took the bag of 48 pieces and started putting the second princess puzzle together. He was totally calm, and when both were done, I told them it was time for bed. Erectile dysfunction medication like the popular sildenafil (levitra tablet ) and the oral jelly form. I asked Brandon to put all his books upstairs, and he retorted something, and I told him, “You brought them down, you can bring them up.” Peyton saw him struggling, and offered, “Can I hold one for you?” Brandon gave her two, then a third, and he grabbed the rest. They stacked them up in his room and went to their respective rooms. I don’t know if it was because I was alone, but it seemed that Brandon calmed down faster than he normally would if two of us were around. He had two cards saved up. We’re using the cards as a recommendation we got to give him “options” at night instead of immediately taking away privileges at night. He starts with one per night, and if he has an issue, he needs to turn in his card. After he uses the card, he cannot come out again before privileges are then taken away. If he doesn’t use it, then he gets to accumulate cards. So he didn’t come out either of the last two nights. So, he got his card tonight, making that three. I sent him to bed, and reminded him of the card policy. Before I left the room, he said, “You didn’t give me a hug. May I have a hug please?” No matter how upset he gets, he always has to have his hug at night. It’s his way of not going to bed angry, maybe. So I hugged him and reminded him again of the cards. I went to Peyton’s room, and gave her her hug. Brandon came out, gave me his card, and said, “I’m thirsty, I will go downstairs, get my own water, and here’s my card.” He came back, then brought me his second card in 5 minutes. “I’d like to know how many greens I got today.” He gets a reward for his good behavior, so he wanted to check in/check out with me. It was my bad not to review it with him before he went to sleep, but he did accept it and turned his card in. If he didn’t have cards, he would have had to wait until tomorrow morning. But the cards give him: His terms. He has to do things on his terms, but ultimately, we have peace restored and another system of economy.

Playdate for the Young and Old

This morning, we had arranged a playdate with Rohan and his sister. We met at the park at 1030am, and our kids were off to play at the swings and then the kiddie area. Rohan, Meagan and their mom showed up about 5 minutes later. Meagan preferred to play with the boys while Peyton wanted to play with the bubble she’d brought. They didn’t work so well, but she was happy to try. Meagan is only a year younger than Rohan, so she is closer to the boys’ age than Peyton. We moved to another structure closer to the shade, and the kids all had fun playing there. They moved on to soccer, and even made another friend in the process. We took a break for a snack – cheese, Pirates booty and an Oreo. Then soccer resumed, and Peyton took a ball in the face. We’re not exactly sure she was hit or just stunned. Rohan’s mom thought Rohan did it, and let out a little scream, but it was actually Brandon. Peyton was a trooper, and I was prepared for an accident, with an ice pack in our snacks. She did not cry, and I think she was happy to not have too much attention paid to her. She re-joined the group, and then it was time for us to leave. We wanted to get back before the adult playdate started later in the afternoon. We fed the kids a quick lunch, then headed them up for naps. Brandon laid down for a bit, and Peyton slept within 5 minutes. Mike and Yunhee came over about 30 minutes later, having driven from down south.  They made good time, and we caught up while the kids were resting/napping.  Brandon came down first, and wanted to watch the baseball game with us and chat.  Later, Peyton came down, but she was her usual self.  We had a late lunch/early dinner, and both kids weren’t really that hungry.  They chose to play on their own – Brandon with legos and Peyton with puzzles.  Both kept themselves entertained in the living room for about over an hour!  Peyton decided she wanted a sweet potato, but she was too shy to eat it in front of everyone, since we were all done.  I noticed she was just picking at it, even though she’d asked me for it.  So I asked her if she wanted to eat it in the kitchen, and she nodded.  She came back to her puzzles just 5 minutes later, having finished all her potato.

After she was done, we cleaned up that area, then headed to the family room.  The kids then got their individual guest to play with.  Peyton had now warmed up to Uncle Mike and was dancing and singing with him, while Brandon was talking Yunhee’s ear off. Good thing she has a nephew who is 2 years younger than Brandon and is very tolerant.  They were playing with more legos.  Peyton was singing “Call Me Maybe,” “Starships”, and “Fireworks” while dancing and being silly.  Mike and Yunhee said goodbye right in time to get the kids off to bed, around 7pm.  They were in bed by 730pm, with no complaints.  Since Brandon hadn’t slept, it didn’t take him long to fall asleep, and Peyton only slept for about an hour, so she, too, fell asleep quickly.  Now, we’re just winding down and getting ready to start another fun-filled summer week!

While saying good night to Peyton, Dave asked her who she loved more.  She said, “I love Mommy, because you love Brother.”  Dave started to pretend to cry, then I told Peyton she could love both of us.  She thought about it, then said, “Daddy, I love you, actually.”  She was trying to make him feel better, and after a few more “I love you, actually,”‘s, he stopped crying and gave her a hug.  I just laughed that she used the word “actually”.

Motivation

Last night, Dave declared he was going to go riding. But I chimed in that I’d wanted to go running. That was the end of it. Flash forward to this morning, when as soon as we woke up, he said, “I thought you were going running?” Ugh. I asked him, “I thought you were riding?” He told me that I’d said I’d wanted to run last, so that was the last thing we discussed. So, making good on plans, I headed out to run the 4 miles on my training schedule. I’d not really followed it this week, having come off a longer run last weekend. Training was supposed to start on Monday, but I fudged it a bit, going only once this week. Since it was the morning, I wanted to run outside. I headed to the middle school track. I like running to start the morning or end the day, but definitely not in between. I think Dave preferred riding when it’s not as cold, when the kids nap, since he can go for longer. I was gone for a little less than an hour, then came back to the kids having already eaten breakfast. I showered up, and we headed out to swimming. Dave also went out, during naptime. Brandon played quietly on his own, while Peyton and I took a nap together. By the time we woke up, Brandon came in to tell us that Daddy had returned. Glad we could both get our exercise in! And the kids got theirs, too, at the pool.

Parenting Tip (from Brandon)

Brandon and I went to swimming class before Peyton and Dave. Peyton was having trouble listening, so Dave stayed home with her until she calmed down and behaved. Brandon and I parked in front of the deep end, by the diving board, but we sat in the car since we’d gotten there too early. Suddenly, Brandon said, “Oh, Mommy, that girl is going to jump in!” I looked up from my phone to see a dad running running down the length of the pool to get his daughter down from the diving board ladder. Beefeater; Sound bites

While watching the start of the Olympics with the kids, a picture of a Beefeater came up.  The kids were debating what it was, when Peyton said, “Oh, a nutcracker!” Brandon said, “NO, it’s a soldier of London!”  We just laughed and told them what it was really called, but I do like their individual explanations.

The Good in People

I forgot to post about a scene the kids and I witnessed this morning. While at a red light, we saw a driver of a stalled X5 trying to push the car back into the parking lot from the intersection.  He was at the cross-street, so it wasn’t as busy as the street I was already on.  A cyclist crossed the street, put his bike down, and ran over to help push it backward.  The man behind him, Almost every man in the UK is well familiar with erectile dysfunction, but a few visit that overnight cialis soft are generally every bit as determined by actual physical abnormalities. Stranger Danger

While waiting to try on shoes, Brandon was watching TV.  Later, these two brothers sat down next to him.  The older one went up to Brandon and said, “Hi. What’s your name?”  Brandon stared straight at the TV, not looking at him at all.  The younger one looked about Peyton’s age, while the other was probably 5, both younger than Brandon.  Brandon didn’t even acknowledge them.  After 3 times, I told Brandon it was okay to say hi to According to recent studies an enzyme called as “eNOS”, which is required to achieve an erection when blood rushes to the genital area, which will cause the clitoris bulk tadalafil to be aroused first. Morning with Mommy

Yesterday, there was a glitch at work, and we thought today would be really bad. I felt badly about it, though it was out of our control, but I didn’t want to miss a day with Brandon, especially since our summer is quickly fading away. So, I did what I could, and brought him in with me! I got us to work, after dropping Peyton off, by 730am. I’d packed snacks and a breakfast for Brandon to keep him busy. We tucked ourselves away in a cubie away from everyone else. I’d made him his favorite oatmeal, and blueberries. He ate while I signed in and got started. I made him a deal that I’d take him to the Lego store after we were done if he remained quiet through the entire time he was with me. He accepted the challenge. After he’d eaten breakfast, he read a book that I’d packed for him. He did that for an hour! He only stopped to pee. I had to quickly hurry him into the potty before most people were there. Good thing! He did his homework, on his own!, for the second hour. I told him I’d check it when I was done. The only person who knew he was there, at that point, was the new pharmacist who was working in the cubie next to us. I saw her lean over, take a peek, then go back. Brandon was just whispering to me, and I’m sure she was wondering what was going on on my side. He was still silent from the other pharmacists on the other side of the wall. In fact, both Bonnie and Michelle IM’d me to ask me what I did with Brandon. I told both that he was sitting next to me! Neither had a clue! He was being a good ninja. Bonnie came over to say hi, then later, Michelle came over to talk to him. By that time, the last hour, he had the iPad. I asked him to push pause so he could talk to her. We chatted for a bit, as we were caught up by then, and then Michelle and I started talking amongst ourselves while Brandon went back to his game. It was about 11am before we left. Brandon needed to go potty again, so this time, he went to the boys’ bathroom. I told Thuy that Brandon was in the potty, and she thought that’s where he’d been the entire time! Haha…so we were headed to the mall to make good on my promise. I fed him the rest of his snacks – a cheese stick and a yogurt – in the car. I wanted to go to the Anniversary Sale going on, so I walked around with him. He was a good sound board for some of the clothes. He was interested in how long the shirts were and how much they covered. We ended up not getting anything for me, but we got a pair of shoes for each kid! Brandon learned a lesson about economy. There was a pair of shoes I wanted him to get, but the salesman brought out another pair of Star Wars shoes. Brandon tried both pair on. Immediately, he said the SW shoes were more comfortable and the other ones “hurt”. The SW shoes were about $10 more, so I told him he could get them (they were cool, with light up green light-sabers going down both sides of the shoe), but we wouldn’t have any more money for the legos I promised him. He said, “Yeah, the Keen’s are fine. Let’s go get Legos.” Haha…Keens it was! It didn’t take him long to change his mind. So, we went to the kids’ area of the mall, and stopped by the Disney store to look around. Finally, we ended up in the Lego store. We ran into Debbie, Vanessa’s mom, who told us Vanessa was going to the private school right by our house. Brandon had forgotten who Debbie was. He said he forgot her name, but I think he totally forgot who she was. He was too busy looking for a toy, so Debbie and I just caught up since it’s been awhile since we’ve talked. After she was gone, I told Brandon he could get something less than $10, yet another lesson. I told him we didn’t have a lot of money to pay for a big toy, especially all the time. He was really good, checking price tags, and asking how much things were. It also helped him know what was more or less than $10. He was sad that he couldn’t get a big set, telling me he should have brought the $15 in his piggy bank, then he’d have $25 to spend! (Yeap, he did his own math!) There were two ninjagos that were less than $10 – one was a booster pack for the blue ninja, and then there was one complete mini set. He chose that one. The booster pack didn’t have a lot in it, but it cost the same amount! I think he made a great choice. He was still griping how he wanted the larger sets for his birthday. Or Christmas. I told him either way, it was a long way off. He was happy when the clerk gave me a free magazine for him to read. He read it while we walked back to the car. I warned him not to run into anybody or anything like he’d done in the past. He was careful to walk closely to me, but did manage to read the entire magazine before we got to the car. Now that we’re at home, I fed him lunch, checked his work, and had him do his spelling words for points. He got only 4 words wrong, with 50 right! Now he’s watching his 2 episodes that he’s earned. Later, we’ll go pick Peyton up and have more fun!
