I told Brandon to talk to Baby Sister and tell her goodnight. I felt her moving on both sides of my tummy while I was lying down. So I told him about how big (or little) I think she is. He was a bit rough “kissing” her
goodnight. I told her just to talk to her. I prompted him, “My name is Brandon, I’m your big brother.” He repeated, “My name is Brandon, I’m your big brudder.” I can only imagine what’s it’s going to be like when she is on the outside.“Baby Sister is getting dizzy!”
Brandon and I were Wii-ing tonight. Since learning of the 10 point failure of my most recent sugar test, I am determined to do some exercise. What better way to do this than to Wii! Seriously, the aerobic section of the FIT is good enough for me to work up a sweat. I’ve opened up the advanced step and free step, so I did some of that tonight. I even let Brandon have “his turn”. When I needed a break from the stepping, I
Now I have to find time to take my 3-hour sugar test; that is NOT going to be fun. I passed with Brandon, so hopefully Baby Sister will pass the test as well.
The Son is Up!
Brandon came into our room this morning, right at 715am, proclaiming, “The sun is up!” Great news: he earned another sticker, having slept in his own bed, all night long! The bad news: it was 715am. So while the sun is up for Brandon, the son is up for Robyn and Dave. Oh well, it gave us a chance to get up and get our day started. Abby, Meg and Jeff were coming back down to hang out with us. Brandon had so much fun with Abby yesterday, but they had to leave in a hurry to get to their wedding. Upon their return, Brandon and Abby did get to hang out more, but it also meant that they had more time to get into trouble. We ate lunch here, then headed to the park. We brought bubbles, and when Dave opened the pack, it was like he was an old lady feeding the pigeons! Kids came out of nowhere, and flocked to where Dave was sitting on the bench. We were finally able to use the bubbles from Kyle’s party. After coming back from the park, the dads tried to stroller the kids to sleep while Meg and I came back home, but that didn’t work. Both dads came back with two still-awake kids. Then we decided to let them both lay down in Brandon’s bed. Jeff tried to ask Brandon to show Abby where they can lay down. Brandon didn’t want to answer or show him. Finally, they ended up in the bed together, and that’s when the mischief began. First there was the territorial fight over the bed area, then they were left to lie there together. We knew they weren’t sleeping because we could hear them talking. Then Dave went into check on them and returned to inform us that they had gotten into the Einsteins reward stickers. Brandon has a book that is supposed to teach you how to count and learn to color. It has stickers in it that we’ve used whenever he correctly counts the number of objects on the page. Well, Dave came back to inform us that they were stickers all over the pillows. And when we finally gave up and told them they could come out, because Abby had to leave, they had stickers all over each other. Oh well, at least they had fun. After they left, we headed down to see Nhi one last time, and give Khoa a happy birthday present. It was all family by that time, so we didn’t stay long. Brandon and I shared a piece of cake, then we headed back home for a family nap. Brandon didn’t last too long in the car and was fast asleep! We’ll see what time he sleeps tonight, given he took his nap at 330pm!
Brandon walked in when Abby was going to the potty. He asked Jeff what she was doing. This was our conversation about it after they had left.
Brandon: Abby went poop on the potty
Mommy: What else did she do?
Brandon: Then she wiped her bottom. And then she wiped her hands!
Mommy: (excited because I thought he would want to do the same thing) So do you want to do the same thing that Abby did? Do YOU want to go poop on the potty?
Brandon: Noooo waay!
Man, I thought we’d had a break through!!
Comment one, comment all
I was informed by an unnamed IT source (thanks Tall IT guy) that you had to be logged into the site to leave a comment. So I investigated a bit, then poked around, and realized yes, one of the buttons was selected to make our viewers sign in first before commenting. Dave recently upgraded the program, so maybe it was a default. In any case, I’ve taken that off, so feel free to comment away. Dave said that he noticed there hadn’t been many comments made recently; he told me no one
Birthday part deux
Tonight a bunch of us from work got together to see an old friend who has moved away but came back for a visit with her baby. It was the first time we got to meet him, and he’s a big boy already! The September birthdays were celebrated!! Not only did we eat cake, but I got a brand new wallet!! I’m so excited, apparently my friends knew that I needed
a new one. The one I have now has seen better days. It gets a lot of abuse being thrown around in my work bag, the diaper bag, and everywhere in between. Thanks, guys! I will make it my project this weekend to transfer all the stuff from one wallet to the next. Here are the pics of the birthday boys and me and Brandon in a 10-gallon hat!Trying to trick Brandon
Last night, Dave thought maybe he could “build himself” out of pillows and blankets in a pile on the floor, so if Brandon woke up in the middle of the night, he wouldn’t cry. (Preface: Dave slept on the floor in Brandon’s room the night before
last just to get a decent night’s sleep.) It almost worked. Brandon woke up, cried for a little bit, and said, “Daaaaaddy. Daaaaddy,” then went back to sleep until morning, when I had to wake him up for school. I told Dave it almost worked.Growing taller
We have a trick to get Brandon to eat his veggies. Sometimes he’s in the mood, and he’ll eat them on his own, but sometimes he’ll eat everything else and leave the green stuff behind. He wants to grow taller so he can do the things that Daddy does – like play softball (that’s where Dave was tonight). So we tell him to eat his veggies to make him grow taller. That’s what I did to get him to eat his brocolli tonight. He wasn’t eating it like he did yesterday (Dave made it freshly steamed yesterday, and Brandon was lying on the couch, dipping it in hummus like some kind of Greek god, watching Cars).
Tonight, it was nuked left-over brocolli, so he wasn’t as into it. He ate all his chicken (which is also rare), and left the greens behind. I told him to eat it so he can grow taller. Then he kinda put up a fight, saying, “No, I don’t want to play softball.” Then he reconsidered, and slowly started eating it. After he was all done (he ate about 4-5 pieces), he said, “Am I taller?” I looked at him, thought about it for a second, and said, “Yeah, maybe a little bit.” My mom did think he had grown since the last time she saw him two weeks ago, so it’s not really a lie.Kid Interaction
When I went to pick up Brandon from school, he was playing with a puzzle. Decki saw me come in first and told Brandon, “Your Mommy’s waiting for you.” Brandon ignored him, continuing to play with the puzzle. Decki leaned in close so Brandon could see his face, “Your Mommy’s waiting for you!” It seemed Decki wanted to play with the puzzle and it was the right moment to get Brandon out of the picture. He said it a third time, then I finally told Brandon that indeed I was waiting for
him and that we needed to go.On the way out, I saw Jennifer picking up Jesselyn. Megan ran up behind Jess and gave her a hug and they both kissed on the lips. It was so sweet! Brandon then wanted in on the action – he leaned into Jess and gave her a gentle hug, too (I always worry that Brandon will try to knock someone over or be too strong for his own good – hopefully that phase has passed). Jess gave Brandon a peck on the mouth. So cute!
Wii birthday!
I got to celebrate my birthday with a new Wii! There have been some wrapped gifts in Brandon’s room for awhile, and Dave said it was my birthday present from my parents. We went over to my parents’ house on Friday night for dinner, and Dave brought the bag of gifts up. He asked me to ask my mom if it was ok to open it a day early. She didn’t care, so I did. It was a Wii with one of my favorite games – the Wii Play! Yay – we can now play it in our own home!! I told them I knew that was it. Dave asked me how I knew, and I told him I had been asking my mom about it for some time and I knew she wouldn’t let me down. Dave then brought in his gift to me, fresh from the store that day. It wasn’t even wrapped! He and Brandon had been shopping just that afternoon. Dave lucked out and got the Wii Fit!! Double YAY!! My doctor said I should do some light exercise, since I’m gaining more weight this time around. Dave said he was intending on getting some games to go with the Wii, and just asked when the next shipment of Fits would come in. Turns out they had them in the back! So he got that and another game that I love (it’s a puzzle game). Dave set it up after dinner and was trying out the balancing games on the Fit. He had us in stitches – especially trying to do the headers
in soccer.Funny though, I was playing my puzzle game yesterday, and Brandon had been out shopping with my parents. When he came back and saw me playing the game, he started clawing at the TV and told me, “Turn it off, Mommy.” I was in the middle of a level and had to plead with him to let me finish. I brought him upstairs to my parents while I did so. My dad was laughing at him because he’d never seen anything like it! Brandon wanted my attention, and he wasn’t getting it because I was playing video games. That doesn’t bode well for the arrival of Baby Sister. Then last night, my aunt and I were taking turns on the Fit. She wants one, so she was “test driving” ours. Brandon was watching both of us (everyone else was playing Mah Jong) and when my aunt was done, he asked, “Is it my turn?” I told him not yet. I was doing one of the yoga poses, and (according to the rest of them) Brandon was trying to copy me! I think it was the one-leg tree pose. He said, “I can’t do it, I’m too short.” I’m looking forward to more Wii! I also want to see Dave in some yoga poses. The idea of the Fit is to lose weight, so my profile is going to be off for the next few months, because my weight will be going in the opposite direction. I did get a happy birthday wish from the Balance Board! It was cute, with a little party hat and everything!
Another funny to add to the collection
I was coming into school with Brandon today, and two of the teachers were inside the office talking. One of Brandon’s teachers and then another one at the school. The other teacher heard Miss Maria say hi to Brandon, then she said, “Oh, is that Brandon’s mom?” She said, “Brandon’s mom…” so I stepped inside. She said normally she wears pants to school, but the other day, she wore a dress. The kids were all gathering around her and looking at the dress (she’s
a larger lady). Brandon then commented to her, “I like your new legs!” She was laughing so hard and started telling all the other teachers what he had said. She said she didn’t feel comfortable telling Dave (being a man and all), so that’s why she waited to tell me when she saw me next. So Miss Maria said, “Oh, that Brandon, you’ll have to watch him, already checking out women’s legs!” Didn’t both telling her that he also had a penchant for “boobies”.
