Happy Halloween!

The threat of rain almost sabotaged the Halloween parade this morning. I got the kids at school, and it wasn’t raining. Just as the kids were lining up, there were some sprinkles. But the parade would go on! The kinders started, then the 1st through 5th graders. I was standing with Grace’s mom and dad, and Bella’s dad. Grace’s mom offered to take pictures of both Peyton and Brandon as they made their way through the circle/parade. The rain started coming down, and poor Peyton was in her skimpy Elsa costume. She didn’t want to wear anything underneath, so she would suffer. Misha was also Elsa, and she saw me first. “Peyton’s mom, Peyton’s mom” was what I heard, replaced with, “ROBYN!” Apparently, Peyton’s mom is too much to say. I agree. Right after the parade was done, just after 9, I headed back to Peyton’s classroom. I asked the teacher if we could gather the kids for a picture. Initially, she wanted to wait until the party at noon, but I mentioned I might change Peyton out of her costume. She thought it was a good point, and also noticed the other three classrooms lining up to take a photo. We got the kids to take a photo, then I quickly left for work. I got in close to 2 hours before heading back to school. I wasn’t in a big rush, knowing that the kids would be in their class for lunch. When I arrived at the classroom, I found that the teacher was still there. She was eating a ramen at her desk, while watching the kids. Landon’s mom was also there, so I wandered around the room checking in on kids. I changed Peyton into less itchy clothes, and soon, the kids were let outside to play. The kids got to play for 15 minutes or so before coming back into the classroom. They got ready for their performance as the parents were gathering in the class. They performed 3 skits/songs which were all really cute. Peyton started talking to the boy next to her during their breakout section, and I think that boy’s mom was annoyed. She was sitting front row, center, filming them. I think Peyton does it because she’s nervous, which she used to do in pre-school, too. Oh well, I did talk to her about minding her own business. The kids then had their Halloween party, with parents and kids helping themselves to treats that all the parents brought in. After that, we were dismissed to the Fall Festival. We went to pick Brandon up, then headed over to the Festival. It was all under the awning of the multi and in the multi itself, which is why the kids had to eat in their classrooms. Normally, it’s on the blacktop, but they were preparing for rain, which did show up. There were also two food trucks. I felt badly for Brandon, as I handed him 25 tickets, instructions to NOT leave school, and NO food to be purchased with said tickets. With that, he was off with his friends. I couldn’t stay with both of them, as they had different interests. Since the activities were all crunched under the awnings, it was SUPER crowded. Like chaotic. And then the rain came down, and it was flooding everywhere. There was a point that it was coming down so hard, I decided we were going to stay at school for awhile. I didn’t bring an umbrella, thinking we could just run if it did rain. But we would’ve been soaked had we tried to make it back in the car in that deluge. Luckily, we still had tickets, and I was on a mission to fill Peyton’s card. Brandon’s never had patience to wait in line and get the stickers required to get prizes and ultimately the pumpkin if the card was full. Peyton won tic tac toe, and the woman running the booth was impressed with her arm. She also knocked all three bowling pins and filled up on stickers. She quickly filled up her card; some big kids noticed her card was full, and asked her how she did it so quickly! After awhile, Brandon found us. I checked in with him, and he told me he just wanted to get mini suckers for our snack bin. He assured me he didn’t eat any of them. I did tell him he could buy one snack, and he ran off. He did tell me he’d come back and show me what he got. He brought back two snicker doodles, and I told him he could go ahead and eat them. He was doing a great job on his own with his friends. He later found me and told me he was all done, but he had a few tickets left. We consolidated, used the last of them for a photo for each of them, and then headed to pick Peyton’s pumpkin. I told her if she got a big one, I’d carry it.  But she chose a tiny pumpkin that she could carry herself.  I asked her if she wanted a larger one, but she declined.  It was smaller than a bowling ball, and so cute!

I stopped at the food truck to get some sliders, then we walked back to the car. The rain had subsided by then, so it was a perfect time to go. The kids finished up their lunches, while I ate my sliders. Then both practiced piano, and by that time, Dave had come home. Both kids changed into swimming gear, and we headed out for class. They were both disappointed they had to swim today, as they just wanted to go trick or treating. It was still early, so I told them they wouldn’t be missing out. We came home, showered up, and then changed to go back out. It was just getting dark at 645 pm. We stopped by the Cheng’s, saw some baseball families in our area, and then made our usual loop. Since we were more mobile, we made it further than we normally do. We were also able to stay out later, so we were gone a little over an hour. We came back to our still-full basket, so we weren’t robbed like in previous years. The kids counted up their candy, and then they went to sleep. Since each of them had to be talked to at swim class, we didn’t let them have candy tonight. They will look over their stash tomorrow, though they know with the twins’ party, there will be cake. Brandon said he’d prefer candy over cake, but he has to decide that AFTER the birthday party. Here are our pictures from today…and some video later.

Gross Post

Warning has been giving in the title. No pictures…but still. Peyton and I stayed home today while Dave and Brandon went out to dinner. Peyton had a rough day following a 45 out of 45 stars day. So, she got to stay home with me. She was going poop in the middle of dinner, as she typically does. She then said, “Mommy, please come here. NOW!” She’d wiped herself, but it had smeared on her bottom. She was right in calling me, as it was rather soft and potentially messy. I may never be able see it the same again. Thanks, Peyton. Needless to say, we both went upstairs and I helped her shower up to make sure she was thoroughly washed. Ugh. Hope she returns the favor when I need it.

Full Weekend

Yesterday started with a rained out birthday party.  We were supposed to celebrate one of Brandon’s teammate’s birthday by playing baseball yesterday morning, but we woke up to rain.  The party was shifted to after lunch, so we quickly did some errands before lunch.  We went to PMH to make pizzas.  Peyton inserted herself among Brandon’s team, and she hung out with the big boys.  They all put their toppings on, while the parents hung out nearby.  Some parents took the opportunity to drop their kids off.  At one point, all the kids were by the soda fountain, with one or two even putting their mouths up to the faucet for a direct pour.  Luckily, our two were NOT among them.  In fact, they were the only two left at the main kid table.  I ignored the other kids, as the party hosts were in charge of things and another parent dining happened to see it first and alerted the birthday boy’s parent.  Dave was off coach duty, so he enjoyed himself.  Our kids didn’t complain about drinking water, fortunately, but I’m sure had we not been there, they would’ve been right in the mix.  Adult pizza came out first, then the kids’ pizzas were fired up and ready to eat.  After pizza, we headed over to the field.  The kids lined up in order of height, and counted off by 1 or 2.  Brandon and Peyton happened to be on the same team, which was unfortunate for Peyton. She was happy to be on his team at first, but then he was not a nice teammate.  The birthday boy was the manager, so he chose himself first, and Brandon second.  Peyton skipped her turn the first at- bat, but changed her min after the second time around.  I told Brandon she’d bat before him, and he went nuts about it.  Dave then inserted himself in the line-up as coaches were batting, too.  He’d been pitching and didn’t realize that he didn’t get his turn to bat.  Brandon was in tears but quietly behind his glove.  He got over it, after I told him that he was letting all his teammates see him cry.  Peyton was melting down, too, as it’d been a long day.  She hung in there, but I ended up fielding with her holding my hand.  By 3 pm, I told Dave we had to leave.  We were supposed to be at the Kong’s by 4 pm for pumpkin carving.  Our plans for the pumpkin train were thwarted by the World Series, and it was a good thing, too, as the weather wasn’t the best.  We all showered and headed up north. We brought our pumpkins up, and then we brought snacks, while the Kong’s ordered ribs and had mashed potatoes, salad and green beans.  The game was turned on after the kids’ movie was off.  The kids entertained themselves upstairs while the parents either watched the game or later, carved pumpkins.  Dave didn’t care about the game so much, so he worked on the pumpkin carving of HK that Peyton chose. Altering construction cheap sildenafil india and release of these muscles promotes urinary continence and improves sexual health. 3.  Brandon turned down ice cream sandwiches.  I was shocked, but later he told us he was full (again, shocking) and that he’d rather play with nerf guns (ahh…I get it).  He played nerf by himself until the other kids finished eating theirs.  None of the kids finished; Peyton was the last woman standing, and even then, left about a quarter of the sandwich there.  We got the kids ready to go by the end of the 7th inning to come home.   Since they were already showered, it was easy to get them brushed and ready for bed.

This morning, Dave wanted to go to breakfast before I had to leave.  We were going to head to Crepevine, but Peyton had a hard time getting out.  So, we headed to WF to get a quick breakfast.  We came home, and I headed out early to lunch.  Theresa was already there, waiting to be checked in by the restaurant.  Soon, the rest of the girls showed up, with Thuy bringing in Taylor at the end.  We were on a time limit which I wasn’t aware when I made the reservation.  It was enough time for us to chat but we probably could’ve stayed longer.  I called Dave as I was walking back to my car.  He was just leaving home for the game, so it wasn’t enough time for me to get home and stay with Peyton.  Had the baseball game not been moved back an hour, I would’ve made it for Peyton.  I went home to change, then headed to the field.  Peyton was playing ipad, so I started to throw with Brandon to warm him up.  Dave was running some batting drills, so Brandon was throwing to two separate guys.  I didn’t want to throw to either of the other players, as I didn’t want to be responsible for hurting any kids.  Luckily, I didn’t hurt my own either.  After Dave was done, I went to sit with Peyton.  The game before ours was running late, so we were waiting around for a long time, about 20 minutes.  We got situated into the stands, and were prepared for the last game of the fall season.  Peyton watched her movies, while I was able to watch the game.  Brandon was up at bat, and I got to film his entire at-bat.  Here’s what he did…HOME. RUN!!!  I kept quiet until he rounded second, and then it looked like he was going to get all the way around, but only if he ran hard.  I went a little nuts…I blame my mom 🙂  She is a loud cheerer, too.  But this was his first one ever!  The team ended up winning by one run.  Jack also had hit a home run earlier, so it was definitely an exciting game!  We celebrated the end of the season at the restaurant down the street.  It was a great season, and the coach made a mini speech, while the team presented him with a gift card as well as team photo.  We’re home now watching the WS game.  What a great day!

Written Statement

Peyton and I went to pick Brandon’s stuff up after school before chess club.  Brandon looked at me seriously and told me C and B were in the office.  B is the kid that Brandon used to get in a lot of trouble with, and I told Brandon to stay away from him.  (I’m sure other parents have said the same about Brandon).  I asked if Brandon was involved, and he said, “No, it’s just them. And R was there, too.”  I asked him why he was in the office. Brandon told me quietly, “I’ll tell you later at home.”  That made me even more curious.  I leaned in, and I told him to whisper to me.  He leaned in, after checking around, and said, “Blake kicked someone in the ‘thing’.”  I nodded to Brandon to acknowledge, then told him we’d talk later.  Today was chess tournament day, so he was going to go play some matches.  While we were walking away from Brandon, we saw some of Brandon’s classmates, or at least one boy I recognized from class.  One kid said, “Ya, did you hear he got kicked in the nuts?”  Another said, “Ya, the nuts?!!”  Another shorter boy asked, “But what’s ‘nuts’ anyway?”  I hurried Peyton away from there, but she said, “Mommy, they’re talking about the same thing Brandon was talking about!”  Okay, so the little boy didn’t know what “nuts” were, but Peyton does.

When we picked Brandon up from chess, he flushed out his story.  He said the victim accidentally tripped R, who then raced after him.  He got tired of chasing him, so R returned to the soccer match where Brandon was.  But B and C gave chase, and followed the victim to the bathroom.  They grabbed his arm, and proceeded to tackle him and kick him, in the thing. Art Morning

This morning I took the kids to school to do Peyton’s art class. I was an art helper but the other mom tried to put me on the spot to ask if I wanted to lead the show. She said she’d forgotten how to do the art part and had only studied the lesson part. I’d helped with Brandon’s class last month for the same project but I still wasn’t prepared to do the lesson alone! Another mom have her the run-down and she felt confident again to do the lesson. We helped put the supplies out and when we were done I had a chance to look at the kids’ art from last week. Hanging up was the art from a simple black dot. The dot represents what people focus on, the negative. But people miss the other 80% of the white space or the positive. The task was to create something with the black dot, incorporate it into their picture. Here’s what they did:

I didn’t get any pictures from today’s project since we were busy helping. It was a portrait session, drawing their teacher like da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, while listening to Beethoven. Peyton was fairly quiet, working hard on her project. After an hour, we were done and the kids headed off to recess. I headed off to work for an hour. I’d told Peyton I’d miss out on lunch but hoped to get back during recess. I worked fast but didn’t get back in time. I did go back to school right as they were lining up. Peyton saw me and came over to the fence. I looked like a creepy lady talking to a little girl through the school’s fence. I stayed long enough to ask her what color her card was (green) and encourage her to keep it that way for 45 more minutes. I went home and ate lunch then returned to pick her up. She happily showed me her 45/45 stars for today. She made it a whole week on green or blue!! She knew her reward would be Mommy and me time. Instead of practicing piano, we made headbands! I told her we only had 50 minutes as we had to pick Brandon up from chess club. She did two and was all done. We cleaned up then headed back to school for Brandon. She made a purple one (no surprise) but also an orange one! (Giants??). Here’s her pictures with the purple one:

Dave stayed for happy hour at work. I got the pleasure of both kids this afternoon. We went back to my work for food I’d left earlier in the week. Then we came home and practiced piano. I got them all done before 5 pm to watch the game. They did their own thing while I watched. Later they watched jeopardy at 7. The seventh inning was just wrapping up. I told Brandon he could watch the rest of this inning before going to bed. He said, “Go Giants!!” He knows enough about baseball to know that the Giants were the bottom of the inning. Funny kid. That’s the way I can get him to root for the Giants. Peyton’s such a non Giants fan, she read a book while we watched.
