Heart-breaking…

Today, as Peyton finished up with all her work, shower and ready for bed, she was rewarded with baseball time as the Dodgers were playing the Giants. The Dodgers took an early lead, and she was cheering. I came out to see what all the fuss was about, and she asked, “What?” She had the fattest, smuggest face, and then as I glared at her, she said, “Sorry, Mommy. Go Dodgers!” Then she gave me her jack-o-lantern one-toothed smile. I then gave Dave the same glare, and he said, “What?! I didn’t do ANYTHING!” Hopefully I get the last laugh, as we’re watching the 9th inning now…she purposely left out her favorite player when talking about her softball card when presenting. She said her teacher is a big Giants fan, and I guess to stay in her good favor, she decided to not mention that C Kershaw was her fave player.

Peyton said she told her teacher she lost her tooth. It’s all about how much generico levitra on line fundacionvision.org.pa and what you can do about it. And my elbow partner, because you know, it’s Daniel.” (then she giggled). Then she told me she also shared with her class when asked what everyone did over the weekend, that she went to the tech museum for a KP event.

Busy Sunday

This morning, we lounged around a bit, then we suddenly started to rush around to get ready for a work event held at the tech in downtown. We were packing up for baseball after, so it was a bit of a scramble. The kids grabbed cheesesticks, but we didn’t feed them a properly breakfast. Luckily, when we arrived at 10 am, there was breakfast being served. The adults got frittata with turkey or without, but the kids got chocolate oatmeal that looked like a brick. Brandon was a bit disappointed, since he wanted to try the frittata. Later, he went to another station, who did serve them. After we’d eaten, we walked around some exhibits, then saw Kathy and her family there. She had her niece, sister and mom, since her kids weren’t available. Later, we went downstairs, and we saw the Kao’s, Chang’s, and Cheng’s. We were planning to hit up the imax, but I’d heard it was every 30 minutes. So, we were going to wait for the noon show. I’d received text from Michelle right after 1130 am, (she sent it earlier, but I hadn’t checked until it was too late) that the shows were every hour on the half-hour. Oops. So, we took our time and checked out the exhibit that work was sponsoring about the body. We wrapped up and headed up the wait in line for the movie. It was on the Human Body. Dave heard around that time that breakfast was being swapped out for lunch. We were planning to hit that up to top the kids off before baseball, especially since Peyton didn’t eat much at breakfast (the oatmeal had bananas in it). The movie showed reproduction, circulation and digestion, among other systems. I was a bit surprised we were watching conception and reproduction without having a conversation with Brandon beforehand. I’d asked him about it later, and he said it was, “Gross”. He was mostly referring to the digestion part, as it showed bile, and food being digested in the gut. Probably better we didn’t eat lunch beforehand. Did I mention it was iMax?! Ugh. I’d reminded Peyton to close her eyes if she felt sick. I ended up falling asleep for the last 10 minutes or so until right before the baby was born. After the movie, it was crazy busy. We ran into Brandon’s friend, Clay, whose mom I knew would be there. We stood in line for food, but Brandon had to go potty, so Dave took him. Dave didn’t have his phone, so we were back to old fashioned way of finding each other. We found him after we’d gotten our food. We took the opportunity to eat first while they were still in line. Then we high-tailed it out of there. It was a scrimmage, but we don’t like to arrive late to this stuff. Especially the boys. Brandon changed in the car, and we made it to the park by 215 pm. The team was in the field, so Brandon sat out for that, then he was second up to bat. Good timing! We sat out in the heat, but under an umbrella. Peyton and Dave played crazy 8’s. The game was done by 330 pm, and we headed home. Both kids were hungry, so we started dinner by 4 pm. We were done by 5 pm, when my phone rang. I’d missed it, but saw that it was H’s mom. She was calling to coordinate walking their dog Cody. Peyton was super excited, and she started scrambling around to get her stuff together. She’d already taken a shower, but her hair was tangly and wet. So, we cleaned her up, and I wasn’t sure if she was going to go by herself or if I needed to go with her. I was prepared either way. She became shy when H’s mom and dad came up. H ran up the street to say hi to us first. We ended up all walking together, which is nice, since H’s mom and I just chatted. It took Peyton a little bit to get off my “leash”, and she ended up walking with H on her own. H’s mom was telling me G wanted to go with them, but F didn’t want to, and didn’t want to stay home by herself. H’s dad told the older girls to stay home since it was H’s walking play date.
Not sure why Peyton was shy around the dog, she was looking forward to it last weekend! The older girls had a soccer tournament which ran late, so they weren’t able to pick us up last week. She didn’t want to hold the leash, but she petted her when we got home. Brandon was already told he had to stay behind, in case he was asked. He didn’t end up coming out until after we got home. He and Dave came out to say hi. They headed home after dropping us back off, and then we came in to practice piano. She sat down and said, “Phew, I’m sweaty from walking!” Both rushed through piano, and didn’t mess around so that they could have enough time to finish up the lego movie that they’d started yesterday. It’s perfect timing as it’ll finish up by 7pm. Neither took a nap today, and we’ve been going non-stop, so it’ll be good for them to go to sleep early. And for us, too.

Not sure if Peyton mis-typed her or there was a glitch in the system.  But it’s mostly right.

Visitors!

This morning, the kids practiced piano early before we left to run errands to get food for later today. We went to a few different places to gather ingredients. We picked up rice rolls for lunch (brunch for Dave, Peyton and me; Brandon ate before). We came home, and Peyton took a nap. Brandon kept quiet for the most part, while she slept an hour. I cleaned up, and we vacuumed and dusted for our guests. They arrived around 4 pm, and the kids were super excited. The girls went upstairs to play, while Brandon was in his room. Later, he joined in as they went outside. They were playing with bubbles, golf, and soccer. We had a nice dinner outside, and they brought an almond cake with fruit. Brandon also helped to clear his guests’ dishes, and he was helpful, too. Both of them did so without being asked, which was so nice to see! At one point, D (V’s sister) came down and said that the kids were doing something she didn’t like. Her mom told her to stay with us, and then Dave showed her a Kinect game. Soon, Peyton came down to discover what they were doing. Brandon was asked to clean up, then V, then P, who did the rest. They had two rounds in before it was time to say goodnight to our guests. I didn’t take pictures of the event, but I did get our “menu” as Dave suggested that we write…

So thoughtful! I love that the “village” looked out for her last week, and that I even got proof of it. Another mom/leader came up to me to check and see if Peyton had a good time. I told her had BEYOND a good time..she had a GREAT time. Another mom who was listening said it was a “letting go” moment. It was just right before I told her I hadn’t seen Peyton in a few hours because she was arriving with another family. I’ve really taken to the idea of “letting her go” now 🙂

Swim Team?

Our swim teacher asked me if I was going to put the kids on swim team…I wouldn’t consider Brandon as he will be over-scheduled beyond over-scheduled, but I would consider Peyton, since she is not as scheduled, but I don’t have a way to get her to the pool so readily. Playdate!

At drop off this morning, while at flag salute, D’s mom came up to me to confirm Wednesday. She said her daughter was having a play date so D wanted one, too. She begged me to bring Peyton over today after the older kids were picked up because she wasn’t going to hear the end of it. I didn’t have a chance to tell Peyton, but I was still picking up at the early time. I went to work, then I got groceries for Rice Krispy treats. I made it back to pick Peyton up, then we headed home to practice piano and make the treats. She didn’t eat much of her lunch because her tooth was bleeding in school. She was hesitant because she didn’t want it to hurt. She got two tissues dotted with blood, and it was grossing me out. I told her to keep wiggling it, and she was whining about the blood and her tooth hurting. I gave her a dry napkin, and she tried once more. I heard a “POP”, and then she said, “Got it!” Since she has big gaps in her teeth, her little Chiclet missing made for a HUGE hole in her smile. There doesn’t seem to be anything else up there, so I hope something will make it’s way down eventually. She found a bag, and she cleaned herself up. I was a bit nauseated seeing the blood…so she had to do it herself.
We went to pick Brandon up, and she wore flip flops. I forgot we were going straight to their house, so she wasn’t wearing good shoes. We waited about 5 minutes, and they arrived home. We followed them in to the house, and Brandon was sad because D’s oldest brother wasn’t there. He had basketball practice at the middle school. He’s 3 years older than Brandon, but they get along well. I chatted with D’s mom and dad, and Peyton kept asking me when I was leaving. I told her I was just talking, and I finally asked her, “Because of Brandon?” I don’t think she minded me being there, but I think she wanted Brandon gone. I don’t know. The family was going to the Back to SChool picnic, so they were just going to bring Peyton with them. I thanked them, and I headed home with Brandon to finish up piano, and make our dinner. We had wraps to make, and I had to finish up with the treats. Brandon had time alone, then we waited for Dave to come home. While I was washing up dishes, I turned around to look at my treats. There was a depression in the pan that wasn’t there before. I asked him point blank if he ate them. He denied it. I told him I’d ask him again, and then he said, “Yes.” REALLY?!?! Who DOES that?! So, I cut that part out to not serve to the school. We helped set up for the picnic, since I was asked to be an “ambassador” for the 4th grade. We were to sit out by our class sign and answer questions any parents may have had. Interestingly, both kids, independently, when I had my “me” time with them, told me they were playing with a “new” kid. Peyton played with D and this new kid, Caleb, who is new to the school. Brandon played with a kid today that he didn’t know, but he said he wasn’t new to the school, only to him. They were playing soccer or tag. Peyton plays tetherball of all things. But I’m happy to see them including other kids with their already established friends. Maybe the PC reading is sinking in after all. I found out G was chosen to be a “Junior Coach” which is that she facilitates games on the black top to engage all kids who are interested. I asked why Brandon didn’t want to. He told me there are two hour meeting on Thursday after school, and it would interfere with band practice. He said he knew I’d be mad if he had to skip practice. I told him if he had wanted to get out of band, that would have been the way to do that. But I did tell him it was good thinking of him to consider when band was.
We were set up by 540 pm, sitting under our sign with another family that Dave helps run the Science night. We’ve known the family since Brandon was in R’s kindergarten class. We were also in 2nd grade together and come across each other in girl scouts. I hadn’t seen Peyton yet, but I knew they were coming. They appeared about 5 minutes later, so I went to have Dave say hi to her. I’d forgotten shoes for her, so she was still in flip flops. Ugh. It didn’t stop her from playing tug of war on the grass, hula hooping, playing tag football, and playing the freeze dance game. For most of the two hours, the kids were doing their own thing, while we chatted with other parents. They were more or less visible. The police car and fire truck were in attendance, and luckily, the kids were wearing distinctive enough clothing that we could spot them from where we were seated. They came back for dinner, and they managed to eat the food we’d brought, except for the chips! Dave bought tater dogs from the food truck, so that was the unhealthy snack. Chips weren’t needed. We packed up after 745 pm. I went to thank D’s dad for taking her for the afternoon. He handed me a loaf of Challah that they’d made! It was a perfectly browned loaf sprinkled with sesame seeds. Peyton was filthy, with brown knees, so she had to scrub down in the shower. I made her finish up her piano, and told her we needed to clean up her room for V’s family who is coming over tomorrow for dinner. V had come over to me to say hi and bye, and to ask what time they should be over. I told her around 3 pm would be fine so they could play. We’re all looking forward to them coming over (maybe not Brandon)…here are the pictures:

Buddies

Since I’d set up the playdate in the wee hours of the evening yesterday with D’s mom, and then I went to work and didn’t see P, I told her after school about the pick up by D’s mom next week. She said, “I know, he already told me.” I was surprised they’d talked about it, but I guess they sit next to each other, and he is excited. She told me, “We call each other ‘Buddy’.” I asked her, “Are you planning WAT together? That’s what his mom says.” She said she’s planning to walk with him, but she’s afraid she won’t be able to find him. I told her we should train, and she should start running with me. Social Calendar

Peyton’s social calendar needs its own entries into my phone. She had two playdates last week, and she called V “H’s” name while at her house. Luckily, she didn’t hear. Now, D’s mom emailed me today. They were on the first t-ball team together that Dave coached, and we went to D’s house last year. He now has a baby sister, and we were supposed to get together over the summer, but we didn’t get a chance to since they were traveling as were we. Since they are Jewish, and they cannot eat anything I prepare, and I have to purchase Kosher foods, it’s really easier for Peyton to go to their house. I’d want to go, too, but with my lingering cold and new baby, that wouldn’t be right. I could have a free afternoon and just be around to pick Brandon up by the end of his class if I can plan this right 🙂 I commended her on her behavior thus far at school. She was excited about D’s playdate, and she told me she saw him go right up to his mom and ask. His mom told me that he’d asked her, “Why haven’t you asked her mom yet?” Peyton told me they are elbow table partners AND elbow rug partners.
She’s off to a great start for the year, and I told her this is why all her friends want to play with her!!

Videos of the Day

While I was leaving, Peyton followed me out to the garage and told me she wanted to say goodbye. She said bye. But then, she said she wanted me to drive out with her waving goodbye. So, I took a video of it, since at some point, she won’t willingly say goodbye. Or she’ll stop her full arm/hand wave…after I turned off recording her, she kissed me goodbye.. Darn, would’ve wanted that one…

While I practiced piano with Brandon tonight, she practiced presenting to Dave. This was her second trial run, as she’d done it with me earlier. As i was done with Brandon, I filmed her practicing once more.
