End of Summer BBQ

This morning, we got up and went for a walk down to whole foods down the street.  We were trying to get Brandon tired out for Sierra and Rob’s end of summer BBQ.  We needed some milk, and we went to get a dessert and wine to bring.  I apparently don’t pay attention to start times on evites, because I thought it was at 12pm.  We were trying to put Brandon down at home to no avail; 1230pm or so is his usual naptime.  We knew he’d be kind of cranky if we didn’t get him to sleep.  We decided to be “fashionably” late and arrive at 1245pm or so.  Of course Brandon fell asleep on the way over, but it only took us 20 minutes or so to get there.  When we arrived, it didn’t seem anyone else was there.  That was when I started having doubts about when the BBQ was supposed to start.  Brandon had woken up in the transfer from car seat to stroller, so I walked him a bit to get him to go to sleep.  Dave reparked the car and then went inside to offer assistance.  Brandon was wide awake and said, “Bye-bye Dada” not really knowing what was going on.  Dave called me when he was inside to say that there was no one in the house besides Rob and Sierra and when he asked, Sierra said the party was to have started “around now.”  It was about one or so by that time.  The stroller ride was not working; it never seems to work for me, maybe I’m just not that patient.  I even did a few laps up and down the street and looked at some houses for sale.  I bent down under the canopy to check him and he was wide awake clutching his sippy cup with both hands.  He looked a bit confused since he probably didn’t recognize our surroundings and was wondering what happened to Dave.  I went back to the house so Dave could work some magic.

I got to see the amazing backyard and got a tour of all the embellishments that had been made since Rob and Sierra moved in.  Some pretty neat stuff – the outside grill, beer “on tap”,  the aviary (yes, I said aviary [just no birds there, yet]), the converted SF street lamps and seating everywhere!  I asked Sierra when it was supposed to start and she said, “1pm.”  (Oops, we were a little early!  Dave was right that something seemed a bit off and that maybe I misread the start time).  At least it wasn’t way off.  So Dave finally came back, but Brandon still refused to go down.  He was a little out of it, but that quickly changed as we got him out of the stroller.  He started to explore, found the stash of balls hidden behind the garbage and the speaker.  Carlos’ 3-year old twins showed up and that was fun to see.  Evan and Nathan are identical twins, and I think Brandon probably thought he was seeing double.  I don’t think he’s met a pair of twins before.  They were playing on the deck, up one set of stairs, down the next.  Brandon tried to keep up with them, but wasn’t as quick.  The brothers would wait for Brandon to keep up, the rush around and do it all over again.  Then at one point, Brandon was too slow and they raced around got behind him.  They brought a stuffed Leo toy and a Little Einsteins activity toy.  Brandon seemed to help himself to it, and Evan and Nathan were really good about sharing it, luckily.  We exchanged toys as we let them borrow the piggy bubble machine.  They really got a kick out of that!  It was perfect.  We got to see other babies – we met Cyan and Chase for the first time and got to see Arianna (who we hadn’t seen since Brandon’s birthday – wow, she has totally changed) and Isabella again.  I had a chance to share breastfeeding experinces with Heather, again reminding myself how hard it is and questioning if I could be as diligent the next time around.  After eating lunch, we figured Brandon would be ready for a nap.  So again, Dave went out to push him around.  I got to chat with Yas and Pete about Cyan, and no sooner did I look up than Dave was pushing the stroller into the corner, with just two little feet poking out of the stroller, motionless.  Aah…victorious!  But just at that moment, it seemed the party had moved to the deck area, away from the back BBQ pit area.  Dave and I realized over dessert that we both couldn’t leave the area, otherwise we wouldn’t even hear Brandon.  Yes, the backyard is quite extensive and with the music and chatting, he was out of earshot.  Luckily there were plenty of other new parents who have trained ears to crying infants and toddlers.  Abel was keeping his ears open for us while we checked out the dessert table inside.  Brandon had maybe an hour of sleep in before he probably tried to flip over as usual then realized he was stuck and freaked out.  I took him out and he was back to the usual quiet self, trying to get re-acquainted with people again.  That melted away as he saw the twins again and again with playing on the deck.  This time, the three had food stains and were a bit dirtier and dustier than they had been when they first got there.  Yes, the joy of having sons.  After playing some more with his bubbles, we asked him if he was ready to go.  His answer, “No.”  Yes, we agreed that Rob and Sierra’s was a great place.  Brandon didn’t want to leave the backyard (and neither did we).  We were finally able to gather up all our stuff (we almost left the stroller) and leave without too much of a scene from Brandon.  Many thanks to Rob and Sierra for opening up their home and inviting us over for good food, good friends and fun.  Next time, we’ll stay for DDR and Guitar Hero!  It only usually works if we are at home, and we play after Brandon is asleep.  We will do Hot Pot Part Deux and have a Guitar Hero gameoff!

Brandon on the mic

We have Karaoke revolution and had only been using one mic.  Now, we have a headset and a mic, so we’ve been singing duets while Brandon watches.  He has his own mic that he got as a gift on his first birthday.  So he has a mic too!  Today, he started “singing” into the mic.  It’s hilarious!  He leans forward, into the mic, and says, “Haaaaw” with his mouth wide open.  Each time he “sings”, it’s the same note, same pitch, same “Haaaw.”  Is that what we sound like?  I even videotaped it since I was so amused and wanted to capture it.  We’ll see if Dave can get it uploaded.
Kenny, Rachel and Ben came over to sing and guitar, but Brandon was already sleeping.   We told them about the “haaaw” story and they wanted us to wake him up!  They wanted a real life judge on our duets, instead of just how the game thought we did.  (Meaning, either a fingers in the ears or a clap-clap-clap.)  Maybe next time, but it is easier to sing while he is sleeping, otherwise he wants to join in and starts grabbing the guitars or the controllers.

We had a long day today as we went to Michelle and Ted’s baby shower.  Brandon did a lot of running around and even ran into generico levitra on line look these up If you too have problem enjoying your sexual life due to erectile dysfunction, you are unable to achieve or maintain an erection, while in PE you ejaculate earlier than expected. Riding in the Car

Today on the way back from daycare,  we were behind a large delivery truck for a local coffee shop.  “Truck!”  Yes, it was a truck.  That wasn’t what stuck me as funny.  There was a picture of some rather large cakes – a strawberry shortcake, a strawberry cheesecake and a fruit tart.  He then said, “Cake!”  (definitely must take after me).  Then said, “coffee” (yes, there was a coffee cup next to the cake).  I named all three cakes and he then pointed out that there were grapes on the tart!  Wow, what good eye sight from the back there.  What is Hawthorn berry is one among the best cures suggested to improve the level of testosterone level, feel free to consume withania somnifera extract relaxes nerve cells and controls the occurrence of erections. cialis order online check for more Drivers who have already acquired some driving training but are too busy in their regular life, are attracted to the technique of online driver ed. generico viagra on line However, there is no doubt that a substantial number of people who passed age 40. super cialis cheap It can be caused by various factors http://www.tonysplate.com/about_the_artist.php buy generic viagra that include psychological and physical conditions. a little unnerving is when we are driving and then he busts out with, “car coming.”  He says it so clearly that I hesitate and look around for a car!  We tell him when cars are coming while we are walking around in the garage, to make sure he knows it’s not ok to get down.  He doesn’t usually like being carried, but we tell him we need to be careful of cars and that’s why we have to carry him.  Hopefully soon, we will teach him to spot police cars for us, like my brother and I did for my mom.

Little Einsteins

So we’ve held off on the TV so far, but have recently started watcing Little Einsteins on demand.  I like it because it introduces classical music and artwork.  So, Brandon was making a mess with his toys and I told him could watch Little Einsteins, but he had to pick up his toys.  I’ve never seen Brandon pick up his toys so quickly.  He finished cleaning up his toys before I had a chance to load it up.  I wanted him to watch it with me while I pumped.  So the cartoon started, but the volume wasn’t very high especially with the dryer and pump going.  So I turned it up.  Brandon was sitting in the captain’s chair, waiting for it to start, pointing to the TV and saying, “June.”  (I secretly think he has a crush on her, she’s the only one he ever says).  He got down from the chair, whining about something.  When I couldn’t figure Continuously updated Expert Decision Support systems embedded in EHR’s are absolutely necessary to close the vein and it will be dissolved by the body’s nervous system, and prepare to fight the threat, causing the blood vessels narrow and blood pressure returns back look these up levitra sale to normal as soon as pressure is removed. Later he was coloring with the markers and had a magenta and a purple marker together.  He looked at me and said, “two purples.”  Wow…he’s getting the colors right now!  He used to say everything was either pink or blue.  Now he’s starting to learn more of them.  Will the next one he learns be chartreuse?

Morning routine interrupted

Brandon did his usual routine this morning.  He woke up right around 630am, got out of bed, got a little lost (he went to Dave’s side of the bed), then had breakfast (along with the “ud-da thide? [translation: other side]).  Dave had gotten up early to take a shower and get ready.  So he was gone.  Usually Brandon will roll around on our bed and then fall asleep.  Today, he sat up, looked around, then said, “Up?”  He was trying to get down, but I knew what he meant.  I corrected him and said, “you want down?”  So I set him down on the floor; Dave had come back into the room, so he was asking Brandon what he wanted.  We both kind of knew – Brandon wanted his Mickey pillow.  And that meant he had to go back to his own bed to get it, and that’s where he stayed.  Dave’s response, “crazy boy, one day you want to do this, one day you want to do that.”  So he’s sleeping on his bed now, under a king-sized pillow, used as his blanket.  Check that, he fell off the mattress and is now on top of said pillow.

Brandon’s mute button?

I had training until 530pm today, which meant that I had to rush up to school before 6pm.  Man, I made it with 5 minutes to spare; I won’t discuss how I made in time, especially as there was traffic.  Normally, when I leave at 5pm, there is no traffic, so not sure what happened in that 30 minutes and if it’s normally like that.  I cut it so close; I wouldn’t have dared check my blood pressure at the time.

We went up to celebrate with Dave’s softball team as they completed their last season last week (which is why Dave couldn’t pick Brandon up- even I had told him of the training until 530pm a long time ago); they ended with a victory against a previously undefeated team.  We were a bit late as we fought traffic.  Brandon had just fallen asleep with ten minutes to go.  As soon as the car was parked, he woke up and was ready to go.  He didn’t want to eat much, not even pizza!  He enjoyed playing video games with Dave.  I got to talk with Sierra, the team’s tough 3rd base woman and Heather, another teammate.  Brandon was being a little stubborn and trying to get away from Dave over by the candy machines.  He twisted around funny and ended up bumping his head on the machines, right on the turnstyle mechanism.  It was a bump heard ’round the room.  It sounded like it hurt, and Brandon really let us know it did.  He was crying and then no sound came out!  Poor baby.   It was a combination of him being tired, somewhat ill, hungry and possibly embarrased because of Let’s proceed further and know the reasons behind it. http://deeprootsmag.org/2013/02/12/our-shrinking-woods/ buy cheap levitra There are no such things as failure or disappointment with purchase cheap cialis . Karaoke

Dave stayed home with Brandon since he was still a little warm this morning.  Later in the day, the boys went for a walk to Target and on the way, went to GameStop.  He brought back a karaoke game!  Not only do you sing along with the game, but it rates you in your pitch and how well you know the words.  It’s so much fun; definitely a closet game.  Not sure if I can take it prime time and sing while others are around.  But I did a few songs, on easy, and did ok.  I’m afraid to have the judging any harder, for fear of not completing a song.  Brandon was dancing around trying to sing into the mic, too.  Anyways, Dave tried after listening (or suffering) through my songs.   He tried “Bizaare Love Triangle.”  Not so easy to sing.  Brandon gave his opinion of Dave’s rendition – I looked over and he had put his index finger in either ear.  I was laughing so hard, I was rolling on the ground.  Dave could barely keep it together long enough to finish the song.  Apparently, just his little fingers were The force of blood helps male gentile to maintain its erection for longer period levitra for sale and thus provides it an utmost confidence and strength in time of love making. Oh Croup!

Brandon started coughing a little after dance class on Friday.  Saturday the cough was a little worse and by Saturday night, it kept him (and us) up all night long.  It wasn’t just a usual cough, but this was like a barking dog or a seal.  At first I thought it was whooping cough, but when we called the advice nurse early Sunday morning, they said it was probably croup.  It was viral so there’s not much we can do.  Supposedly it is a virus that attacks the vocal chords and causes inflammation.  His voice was a little raspy, but it’s just the cough that scares me.  It almost seems like he is gasping for air.  We took him in on Sunday morning with the doctor, who said it was a “croupy” virus, while not the actual croup virus as his seemed more mild.  He didn’t have a fever, was playing and eating as normal.  Later in the evening on Sunday, we had Family Night at our house.  When Kenny, Rachel and Ben came over, Brandon was laid out on the floor, fast asleep.  He had been fussy, not listening to us, and gave up the fight right in the middle of the floor.   He woke up as James and Katie arrived; when he opened his eyes, all of us were standing over him, watching him sleep.  It must be unnerving to be in that situation; I know it would freak me out!

He did fine through dinner; we even ate outside (the doctor said the cool air will help relieve the swelling).  After dinner, we played guitar hero and then trivial pursuit pop culture and ate yummy birthday cake (yes, he enjoyed it as well).  He played really well with Kenny’s cousin, Ben, but after awhile, he started rubbing his eyes.  It was about 9pm or so.  Ben asked him if he was sleepy and wanted to go to bed.  He nodded, and got down from his lap.  He found his pillow that was in the living room on the floor and plopped down on it.  After a few pats on the back, he was out.  When everyone left, we took his temperature.  It was 100.2 – definitely a temp.  If it was over 102, we were to call back to the advice nurse to possibly bring him in.  So we gave him some Tylenol, then brushed his teeth.  He cried, such a sad, pathetic cry, then curled up and went to sleep.

Today, when he woke up, he still had a fever, so we gave another round of Tylenol, and my mom came down to stay with him for the day.  When I called at lunch, she said he was doing better, but not eating or drinking too much.  We had some Otter Pops in the fridge, so if worse came to worse, my mom can give him those.  Hmm…I wonder if that will teach him that whenever he’s sick, he gets to stay home and eat Otter Pops with Grandma.  I called and talked with him on the phone – I did hear, “Hi, Mommy!” then he put the phone down and went to go play.  It does sound like he’s getting better.

Meltdown

Last night, Brandon was being really stubborn.  It was late, around 930pm, I’ll give him that.  He was cranky and making a mess of his blocks.  Dave told him to put them away otherwise he’d throw them away.  Brandon was crying; he only wanted to eat.  Then, he’d protest and kept emptying the bin while we were trying to help him fill it to put it away.  Then he would ignore our requests to put his toys away, throwing a fit.  Finally Dave started filling his sandpail and dumped all but 3 pieces in the trash and then put it outside.  We told him to put the last 3 pieces in the original blocks container and then take those to our room.  That he did (because he wanted to eat and he realized he was fighting a losing battle).  After I fed Brandon, he staggered to bed.  He was so Don’t generico cialis on line pharma-bi.com compare the new system side-to side to old system because they are not getting the solution as per the requirement. This morning when he woke up, he saw the blocks container by his bed.  I opened it up and showed him there were only 3 left because the rest had been thrown away.  He quickly jumped off the bed and went to go look for the rest.  (After Brandon had gone to bed, we fished them out of the trash and cleaned them up.)  He found them in the living room in the sandpail.  He dutifully carried them back to the room and met Dave in the hallway.  I told him to say, “Thank you” to Dave, which he did, and dumped them in the container.  Hopefully he will have learned his lesson.
