Dave’s mom was showing Peyton some dragon fruit stems. Peyton told me, “Look they have Charlotte tubes.” I didn’t know what she was talking about. She told me, “Like daddy. What he uses for the banners.” I asked her to show me. She pointed to the pvc piping that was holding up the stems, and it said the brand on the tube.
“Charlotte”. Dave was amused. Same company. Probably also purchased at lowes.Observant
Last night at bedtime, i was telling Brandon to just take off his top pants layer and leave his long underwear
on. He said, “Today, everyone was wearing just long underwear (leggings) and not their pants.” I guess he’s paying attention.More one liners
Peyton: can we get fast passes for star tours?
me: no, they are probably all out.
Peyton: so we can just wait. For as long as it takes!
Uh. No.
. We stayed long enough to hear the Star spangled banner. Peyton looked at Brandon and said, “Take off your hat!”
Last Aladdin show for us?
She won!! Just the two of them so we were guaranteed a prize.
Life is good
Peyton has a shirt with that saying. Tonight, she told us, “It should say, ‘Life is good. Sometimes.'” She’s more of a realist I suppose.
We made it down to LA safely so yes, life is good. We had an impromptu stop to visit the Foo’s as we’d eaten dinner in their part of the neighborhood. We’ll go to the park tomorrow and enjoy the rest of our year!
Household roles
My grandma was asking Peyton if when she gets older she will cook for her husband. She’d been helping to prepare dinner with my mom earlier in the week. She told my grandma “No, because my husband will cook.”
My grandma then asked, “So you will do the dishes then?” She told her, “No.” My grandma asked her, “Who will do that?” Peyton told her “my husband.” Let’s hope she finds someone who agrees with that.Christmas Day and game day
We stayed overnight for Xmas day. Dave and I left midday to get ready to go to the foster farms bowl at Levi. I was super excited to go to the new stadium. We met at vta after Dave and I had an early dinner. The train ride there was easy. Then we walked around in the cold for awhile before Ted spotted Karen!! Michelle and I tracked back to see if it was her and Kyle, and it was!! They were there with another mom and her kid. We took a quick picture then headed back to our seats. In enemy territory!! We were surrounded. It wasn’t bad in the beginning since we were ahead. But things got ugly for the second half. And uglier. Especially as fans got drunker. We left with a few minutes to go by the fourth quarter. We waited for the train to fill up then we headed back downtown. Dave had been looking up places for a night cap on food. We ended up at the Chinese bistro and ordered noodles and soup. It had been so cold at the game it was nice to get inside and have hot food. We parted ways from Ted and michelle then came home. This morning we headed to brunch with Dave’s friends from work. We were doing a gift exchange. Unfortunately I got one of the gag gifts while Dave got the tea infused similar to what he’d brought. Food was yummy as was the champagne that Dave had brought left over from the birthday party. We came back to see the kids who were deep into the Harry Potter movie series. They did stop long enough to take a nap and later practice piano. We all headed home after helping eat more leftovers. The kids were in bed by seven with few complaints! We’re still trying to secure some SW tickets before we head out but we’re having a hard time. The 3D tickets were open but I don’t know if I can handle that. Early work for me tomorrow then I’ll come back midday and see what the family is up to.

Christmas eve/Christmas
Yesterday, Dave dropped the kids off at my mom’s to then go to work himself. I was at work by six with plans for a short lunch and to be done by two. My mom and Dave were texting me throughout the morning. The kids were put down for a nap while I was at work and were just waking up when I arrived. Dave had already headed up to my grandma’s while my dad was headed back to consolidate cars. We met up all together by 4. Dave was already involved in the first round of MJ with my family. We had a nice dinner and celebrated a belated birthday for my uncle. Actually there are three birthdays in December in the family there. We got the kids teeth brushed after dinner, and they waited until 11:30 to sort presents. We didn’t quite wait until midnight but we got it closer than previous years. The kids hung in there!! We drove home, and Dave got us safely home as we were all out. Peyton had asked me to stay in our bed, but she forgot on her way up. I found her snuggled in her own bed. We cleaned up a bit and waited for santa’s arrival until 130 am. We didn’t make it, but he did arrive sometime after 2 am! At 4 am, Peyton came in our room whining about her tummy hurting. Then started retching. Then we told her to go to the toilet. She puked a bit then Dave told her to sleep on the floor closer to the bathroom. She slept until Brandon came in to wake us up. The kids went downstairs to find a letter from Santa. We opened presents as Peyton was feeling better. Then she declined again and only wanted pedialyte for breakfast. She did get in some pictures with us via our selfie stick.
Here was the convo about what to pack to my parents house:
Brandon: mommy, can I bring my legos with me?
Me: sure
Peyton: can I bring my pedialyte with me?
Me: sure.
This was what was heard last night:
Aunt Jean: how tall is your tree?
P: I don’t know. But our tree has a hole in it.
(I had to do a comb over to cover up the bald part of the trunk)
Me: Peyton Sydney ran an 8k.
P: so. She probably threw up after.
Me: no not everyone throws up after races. Just you.
P: that’s why im not running any more races.
She slept the entire ride up. Then was a bit lethargic when we arrived. Brandon helped my mom set the table and prep sweet potatoes. He peeled them. After hanging out with my dad, she perked up a bit to eat some crackers. I think she’ll survive her Xmas hangover. The kids ate the same things. Dave just thinks she can’t hang without getting sleep.
Merry Christmas!!
Funnies

Excuse the punctuation or lack thereof. I copied this from a text I sent Dave as soon as she said it.
Xmas eve eve
This morning was the last day of CDC for the kids. CDC is closed the rest of the week. I was a bit sad dropping them off as they were the first kids there. Peyton brought her workbook to CDC and told me, “I’ll just do this after breakfast since no one shows up until later.” They had toast for breakfast, and I took the fun out by telling them no butter with their toast. I went to work, and it was relatively quiet. We did our walk at lunch and then I had a little chat with our champion doc at the end of the day. She was calling to ask me a simple question but I was worried I’d be summoned to clinic. Fortunately, I was able to answer it quickly, but I was worried I’d be overtime. I came home and Dave had already picked up the kids. It was a regular night with piano practice. And the kids were sent to bed so we could finish wrapping their gifts. Talk about coming down to the wire!! We finished up around 10. It just feels rushed since I’ll be at work until 230 or so then head up to get the kids and my mom. Dave’s dropping them off to her on his way to work. Hopefully he can get out around the time I do. We’ll have our usual dinner at my grandma’s house then my mom’s.
We have one more day with our elf. He already hid himself!! I wonder who helped him get there
Roles
Peyton and I were talking about drama performances, and how she has to wait until she is in third grade. I asked her if she would do it if it were Annie, and she said she would. This year, there were three Alice’s, and she wondered if there would be three Annie’s. Then, I asked her if she would do Sound of Music. I asked her if she would play the young one.
While we were watching women’s UCLA basketball, Dave was pointing out to Peyton different aspects of the game – namely the pivot foot, shooting form, and lay ups. Then Peyton asked, “But I want to know how to dunk the ball!”
