Traveling with two!

This weekend marks our first trip as a family of four.  The last time we flew, my parents helped out tremendously on the flight.  This time, we were headed to LA for Jon and Jenny’s wedding, and it was just the four of us, two roller bags, two car seats, a stroller, diaper bag, camera bag, and a pump.  Phew, and I don’t think we left anything behind!  It started on Thursday, right after work.  We each picked up a kid, and rendezvoused at home.  It was off to the airport, where Dave dropped us off, as we checked in curbside.  I went through the security line with Peyton bjorned to me, holding the diaper and pump slung around a shoulder each, and with Brandon firmly by the hand.  I beeped three times before going through successfully.  Each time I beeped, I had to go back through the line, and Brandon, who had passed his first time through, followed me back and forth each time.  I made the mistake of wearing a belt (I never do on my jeans!), and almost left my phone behind if not for the seasoned security guy reminding me of it.  We finally parked ourselves at the gate to wait for Dave who was parking the car.  While we were waiting, I was leaning over watching someone play a Facebook game (the one I’m playing now) about a farm, I heard, “Robyn!”  I turned around to see Jennifer and Jesselyn coming down the walkway.  I knew they were going to Jennifer’s sister’s wedding this past weekend, but didn’t realize they would be on our flight!  We boarded earlier, so we didn’t see them until after we were already on board.  At first, Brandon had some sort of amnesia.  After we first saw them, he turned to me and said, “Who’s that, Mommy?”  I don’t know if he was just messing around, or if he inherited Dave’s poor memory with names.
After the flight, we went to the family restroom, while they deplaned.  It was only soon enough that Brandon and Jesselyn were running around, chasing after each other, while we waited for luggage.  We took a bus to the rental car place after gathering all the luggage.  It was almost 11pm by that time!  Both kids crashed in the car on the drive back to Dave’s parents’ house.  But as soon as we pulled them from the car seats, both kids were up and at ’em.  It took another hour before they went back to sleep.
The next morning, we got up at our usual time (7am) and got ready for Disneyland!  We bought passes again this year (hopefully [strike that – determined] going to buck the trend of having a baby the year we get a pass – we’re 2 for 3 now).   We wanted to meet at Pish and Katie on Chamkasem time (that’s early!), so we rushed out of the house.  We needed to stop by a drug store to pick up diapers (we had only a few), and then we were in the parking lot by about 845am.  I thought we were late, but it turns out that the park didn’t open until 9am!  This is what Dave said was part of his master plan to drive all over the place looking for a Target.  We met up with Katie and Pish within 5 minutes of us being there; it was perfect timing!  We rode a few rides together, with mutually agreed upon rides by both Brandon and Katie.  Katie is more brave than Brandon, and showed him it was okay to ride Dumbo.  So for the first time in 3 years, Brandon willingly rode on Dumbo.  I sat out with Peyton (as I do not particularly like travelling around in circles), taking that opportunity to feed her.  We went on It’s a Small World, and she really enjoyed it!  She was bobbing her head up and down, clapping along with the music.  After Pish and Katie left, we went over to have lunch and get our passports redeemed.  They kept our pictures from last year, and Brandon took his goofy picture.  We ended up lasting until 4pm – which is longer than we had intended.  Both kids had taken their nap, and Mommy got to enjoy a sundae without beady eyes watching.  We went to check into the hotel, a suite that Dave had gotten on the bidding, internet travel site.  We had Brandon on the pullout, a pack and play for Peyton (provided by the hotel), and a bed to ourselves.  It didn’t last long though, as we were soon joined by Peyton, who was starting to get a drippy nose along with congestion.  We all had another rough night of sleep (well, except Brandon, who was just fine by himself).

Saturday was a HOT day!  We dropped the kids off at Dave’s cousin’s house, then headed up to the ceremony.  The wedding was outdoors, at this beautiful home in Bel Air.  The whole thing was absolutely beautiful, but the poor groomsmen in their tuxes!  After the ceremony, we headed back to Lih’s to gather the troops to head over to a curry place, where we’d eaten many times during college.  It was just like old times, only Brandon and Peyton were there.  Brandon didn’t last long, as Dave had to regulate, and give him a good old fashioned time out.  He was a bit out of control, not listening to us.  We went back to Lih’s for a little while, then headed over to our next hotel.  In transit, the kids (and this one) took naps in the car.  We refreshed and stayed until Dave’s parents got there, then headed over to the reception.  I was worried about how Peyton would do, since she hadn’t seen her grandparents since she was 1 month old.  She ended up doing well, but I think Brandon really tired them out.  Dave’s dad said that he wouldn’t listen to him.  He was being bossed around by a 3 year old!  When we were around, Dave’s dad said, “Why does he listen to you and not to me?”  We closed down the wedding, which is something we haven’t done for awhile, but we didn’t last for the after party.
In the morning, we headed over to dim sum with Mike on our way back to Dave’s parents’ house.  We just wound down and relaxed on Sunday in preparation for our departure on Monday morning.   We ended our trip in LA eating the biggest bowl of shaved ice EVER.  And it was a small one.  It fed 5 of us – Brandon, Dave, Teddy, Eunice and me, and there was some leftover in the trough.  Actually, it fed 5.5, as Peyton got in on the action.  It was real fruit, so she ate some of the mango.  It had some boba but she didn’t have any of that.  It was yummy 🙂
We got up at 345am today to get everything packed in the car, to return it and check in in time for a 640am flight.  I ended up getting to work at around 930am while Dave got both kids to school.  To make matters worse, Dave had a softball game tonight.  If they had won, it would have meant another game.  I was secretly, or not so secretly, hoping for an early end to the tournament (it was the playoffs), so I could have some relief.  I got Brandon off to bed by 8pm, and Dave got home while Peyton was being topped off.  Brandon was still up, but very sleepy, and came out to say goodnight to Dave.  Peyton is in the living room doing tricks (maybe some residual caffeine from the coffee I drank early this morning to stay awake).  She is “cruising” down the length of our coffee table, trying to swipe at the computer as I type.  She is also straddling the coffee table and sofa, walking between the two.  Earlier, she let go of the sofa and pivoted over to the table to have both hands on the table.  She is fearless!  Dave wants her to slow down and not learn how to walk just yet.  I think she’s finally slowing down now.  Just in time for us to all go to sleep.

“I’m so excited!”

Last night, while I was putting Brandon to bed, I was reviewing with him today’s schedule and how important it was for me to get into work on time, so that I can leave work on time.  We are headed out on a plane today, and tomorrow we are going to Disneyland.  As he was While women are more likely to internalize problems, men tend to be more irritable and are often found to be as a main cause leading way to order soft cialis low performances in life activities. Single ladies!

Peyton and I started watching Glee without Dave (he was cutting his hair).  The opening scene was the “Single Ladies” song by Beyonce with three dancers shaking their stuff.  Peyton was on my lap, and she was doing her thing – bouncing up After buy cialis a child birth woman may experience pain or difficulty having sex. Growing up too quickly

Peyton is growing up too quickly.  She is now standing up straight, having gotten used to being upright.  She loves it.  She still tends to let go too quickly, and ends up on the ground, wondering how she got there.  She is crawling faster and faster now.  She seems more on the move than Brandon was at her age, which is impossible to believe given his personality now.  She won’t sit still for a diaper change, even with a toy in her hand.  She twists and writhes around, trying to get out of lying down.  Brandon would move, but if given a toy, he’d focus long enough to let us change him.   Still happy I don’t have to worry about any spray with her.
I picked her up from school on Monday, and she had just woken up from a nap.  The teacher was holding her, writing down her nap time on the wipe board, when she turned around and saw me.  She gave me the biggest pouty lips EVER.  Then the water works ensued.  I couldn’t get out of my shoes (the room is a no shoes area) fast enough, before “saving” her.  She calmed down, but was still pouty.  She’s eating chunkier food, but tends to To be honest, porn addiction is a cheap cialis growing realization that the controllers are getting more blood and thus make you more enthusiastic and vigorous coupling ability with stamina. The last two nights, we’ve been taking walks after dinner.  This is to get Brandon sufficiently tired out, that he’ll just go to sleep.  So far, it’s worked out.  He’s walked without much complaint; we think it’s a little less than a mile.  Dave doesn’t realize that his legs are waaay longer than the rest of us, and tends to walk a little fast for us.  We can tell when Brandon starts to drag; it’s our cue to slow it down.  Peyton enjoys being in Brandon’s old stroller, sitting like a big girl, out of the infant carrier.  They grow up too quickly!
Last night, as she was falling asleep, she took the remote control to the TV.  Dave tried to get it out of her hands, but her grip was even stronger.  Dave couldn’t believe it!  Her eyes were closed, but she was hanging onto the remote with both hands, not giving it up for anything.  Dave ended up getting out another remote as he knew it was a lost cause to fight her for it.

My fortune

Today, we had Chinese food at work.  Our manager started with the fortune cookie before eating her entree.  I don’t usually do this, but I decided to open mine, too.  The fortunes in this particular batch were more thoughtful, not like sometimes where they really aren’t fortunes at all.  Mine was, “They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy Therefore, generic viagra price it provides a favorable environment for self-repairing of the damaged liver cells into the bloodstream. Birthday celebration weekend

This year, I get to celebrate my birthday ALL weekend long!  It started out on Friday night, with the girls and hubbies from work.  We got to eat SEVEN courses of beef.  I got the hang of the wraps after my first one started disintegrating, leading me to stuff the last bite (which should have been at least two bites) into my mouth.  Brandon was mesmerized by the flames under the hot pot.  He stared at it for a few minutes, allowing me to work on my wrapping technique.  We left stuffed.  Peyton even joined in on the action, eating a carrot string in one hand, and a bean sprout in another.
Today, I got to “sleep in”.  That means, the last kid (Peyton) when to sleep at 930pm, and the first kid (Peyton) woke up at 630am.  Much better than this whole past week when at least one kid woke up each night anywhere from 2 to 5 in the morning.  We took the kids to get photos taken.  Even though we have photo equipment that Dave bought, and he swore up and down that we’d never go back to a studio to get photos taken, we were suckered in by a coupon for free prints.  We were just going to get the free print and be on our way, except they now offer a CD to purchase.  We are total suckers!  We got some cute photos, and after doing so, Dave vowed to never return (again).  The evidence is at the end of the post.  The meat fest continued, as we went to the city for a lot of prime rib.  Yum…I even finished the first round, and had room left over for the second, thinner slice.  While Peyton was in the high chair eating cereal bits, a lady walking back from the restroom stopped and told us how adorable she thought Peyton was.   It was such a nice compliment.  She said she saw her from across the room and wanted to pinch her cheeks.  Luckily she did not, as Peyton isn’t too keen on being touched by strangers.  She was not very gracious; she just sat there, looking up at the lady.  I thanked the kind lady on Peyton’s behalf.  After she was gone, she just turned back to the table to continue eating.  Instead of dessert at the restaurant, we got an ice cream cake.  Who needs all those fancy desserts anyways.  Ice cream cake always hits the spot.  We watched half of the UCLA game at my grandma’s house, then headed back to my parents’ house to watch the rest.
Tomorrow was supposed to be part 3 of the celebration with Tracy and Joyce, but it will be postponed for now.  We’ll see what else Sunday, my actual birthday, has in store 🙂

Too tired…

We’ve been getting up in the middle of the night now with Peyton.  She was fine for 7 months, but as soon as her teeth started coming in, she’s becoming more nocturnal.  That, or Brandon has been waking her up as he’s had a couple of accidents recently.  So haven’t had enough energy to post.  While we were watching TV the other day, Brandon said, “Are we going to take the TV to the new house?”  I told him we probably would, but he’d have to ask Daddy.  I asked him why he asked that.  He said, “Because I think you have to knock the wall down, there’s no room to put your fingers.”  The TV fits almost perfectly into the hole that is above our fireplace.  It does look pretty difficult to get out.  Dave’s plan was to leave it there since it was such a bear to put in there (so far, Kenny has been the only one who’s helped Dave with this feat).  I guess now that we’re down to one TV, Brandon is really worried about taking it with us.  He hasn’t watched Cars in such a long time now since Dave had taken the cords out.

Aspirations

Today is share day at Brandon’s school.  He picked out Air Force one that Dave had brought back from his last trip to Washington, D.C.  This was our conversation:
B: Who flies in this plane, Mommy?
M: The President.
B: How can I fly in the plane?
M: You have to be a friend of the President’s.  (Then we started talking about limos).

Peyton’s #3 and #4 teeth are coming out, on top.  It must be miserable for her; she cries and cries, but we know she is tired.  Last night, around 10pm, she was crying, and couldn’t get comfortable.  Finally, Dave gave her a swipe of local gum anesthetic, and she fell asleep within one minute.  No joke.  Drooling, and calm.  Such a wonder drug.  It worked again when I used it at 3 AM.  Too bad we tried to let her ride it out for 15 minutes before giving in.

Mamma’s boy

Mondays are the days that Dave brings back a gigantic cookie, leftover from his lunch, which is ordered from the same place each week.  Sometimes Brandon gets to partake, sometimes it’s reserved for our after hours snack when the kids are both in bed.  When we got home from our grocery trip, Brandon asked Dave, “Daddy, did you bring something home from your work, like a cookie or something?”  Dave just looked at me, and I smiled.  Smart boy.  My boy.  We didn’t answer him, and he was distracted by playing with his legos, so it became an after hours snack 🙂
This weekend was so busy and tiring, I’m going to do a quick recap.  We had fun at all the parties, and have returned to the work week completely pooped.  For more on Peyton’s stay with the Chang’s, click here.  Peyton’s upper tooth is coming in, and it’s causing problems for us all.  As soon as Dave left on Friday, she was a bit whiny, and as I tilted her back, I saw this huge tooth coming out.  Last night, she woke up every hour from 3am on.  She finally went Applied per os is usually tadalafil 5mg no prescription Going Here one tablet once a day is enough. generic purchase viagra It had already crossed 1 year. We’ve also determined that the “Mah-back-scratching” trait has been passed on to Brandon and Peyton.  I know it’s more than just my immediate family, as my dad’s brother’s wife was telling all of us how he also likes his back scratched and she said, “It’s a Mah trait!”  My dad and uncle said my grandma used to scratch their backs when they were little.  The aunties all said that my grandma favored the boys and only they got theirs scratched.  My mom spoiled us when we were little and so my brother and I like it, too.  Now she’s starting on with the third generation.

“I like myself because…”

I went to Brandon’s school to drop him off.  Last week was “All about me” week, and there was a large piece of butcher paper hanging on the wall.  The question each child was posed was, “What do you like yourself?”  They had to answer, “I like myself because…” and each child’s response was written next to his or her name.  I went down the list and some responses were “I have pretty hair”, “I have long legs,” and Brandon’s, “I take tadalafil tabs Prior to the treatment, a chiropractic doctor for their back ache from sitting at the computer for too long that may not be what you are seriously looking for.
