Birthday celebration weekend

This year, I get to celebrate my birthday ALL weekend long!  It started out on Friday night, with the girls and hubbies from work.  We got to eat SEVEN courses of beef.  I got the hang of the wraps after my first one started disintegrating, leading me to stuff the last bite (which should have been at least two bites) into my mouth.  Brandon was mesmerized by the flames under the hot pot.  He stared at it for a few minutes, allowing me to work on my wrapping technique.  We left stuffed.  Peyton even joined in on the action, eating a carrot string in one hand, and a bean sprout in another.
Today, I got to “sleep in”.  That means, the last kid (Peyton) when to sleep at 930pm, and the first kid (Peyton) woke up at 630am.  Much better than this whole past week when at least one kid woke up each night anywhere from 2 to 5 in the morning.  We took the kids to get photos taken.  Even though we have photo equipment that Dave bought, and he swore up and down that we’d never go back to a studio to get photos taken, we were suckered in by a coupon for free prints.  We were just going to get the free print and be on our way, except they now offer a CD to purchase.  We are total suckers!  We got some cute photos, and after doing so, Dave vowed to never return (again).  The evidence is at the end of the post.  The meat fest continued, as we went to the city for a lot of prime rib.  Yum…I even finished the first round, and had room left over for the second, thinner slice.  While Peyton was in the high chair eating cereal bits, a lady walking back from the restroom stopped and told us how adorable she thought Peyton was.   It was such a nice compliment.  She said she saw her from across the room and wanted to pinch her cheeks.  Luckily she did not, as Peyton isn’t too keen on being touched by strangers.  She was not very gracious; she just sat there, looking up at the lady.  I thanked the kind lady on Peyton’s behalf.  After she was gone, she just turned back to the table to continue eating.  Instead of dessert at the restaurant, we got an ice cream cake.  Who needs all those fancy desserts anyways.  Ice cream cake always hits the spot.  We watched half of the UCLA game at my grandma’s house, then headed back to my parents’ house to watch the rest.
Tomorrow was supposed to be part 3 of the celebration with Tracy and Joyce, but it will be postponed for now.  We’ll see what else Sunday, my actual birthday, has in store 🙂

Dave had his loud, baby blue, shiny UCLA basketball shorts the other day at home.  Brandon pointed and said, “Hey, Daddy’s wearing his UCLA shorts.”  We looked at each other, trying to figure out how he knows they are UCLA shorts.  Brandon pointed to the block letters at the bottom of one of the legs, and said, “Look, it says, ‘U-C-L-A’.”  Yay!  That’s our boy.
