Peyton Floats

Peyton practices her buoyancy at swim class today.  We got lucky and she had a “semi-private” lesson as two other kids didn’t show up.   Here’s  one of her swimming in the waves the coach was making (they were supposed to be in the ocean).   Jumping off the wall.  The other kid was a bit tentative, so Peyton decided to jump anyway.  We’d warned her last week to keep her toes off the side of the pool since she seemed like she was jumping back a bit, and I was afraid she was going to bump her head.  I told her we could “Riddle the Rides” if she listened to her coach, and paid attention so as not to distract Brandon like last time.  She did all that she was asked.  When I wrapped the towel around her, she whispered, “I listened today, can we riddle the rides?”

After swim, we hurried home to shower up, and left for Kira’s tea party.  It was a FA reunion with all the girls.  As soon as she walked outside, Katelyn and Taylor said, “HI PEYTON!”  We wished Kira happy birthday, and she said hello to Peyton, too.  Peyton went into shy mode.  She stuck to my leg, and she didn’t want to go decorate her stuff like the other girls.  Ashley was stuck to her mom, too.  Soon, the other girls arrived, with Bar, Emma both coming in and being shy as well.  We tried to come early, as I knew it would help Peyton more, but we just couldn’t manage.  We weren’t that late, only about 5 minutes, but since things were in full swing, Peyton needed some time. We started eating, and Peyton didn’t want to eat either. This was so unlike Brandon who took off with Ian as soon as he got in the door.  They were so self-sufficient, that Dave came outside with the girls.  Dave got to hang out with Kathy’s sisters and brother in laws, while I was trying to convince Peyton to enjoy herself.  After lunch, Peyton was more interested in playing Bey Blades with Ian and Brandon.  I had to drag her outside to take pictures when we were singing Kira the birthday song.  She agreed only because she heard she’d get a cupcake, but even then, I had to tell her she had to go outside because she was being rude to Kira.  She went with me, and sat down next to Kira.  After dessert, the other girls went to play with the wagons in the backyard.  Peyton said, “I want to go play with them.”  Those were the sweetest words I’d heard all day!  Finally, she was able to enjoy herself, and not be stuck to me.  She had a good time, and we even heard her talking!  I was telling Kathy it’s weird for me to hear Peyton’s voice out loud in public, since it’s so rare that I do. Kathy said it was probably the most she’s ever heard Peyton, too!   She kept calling to Kira, “Come over here, Kira!”  Peyton got into one of the wagons, but before being pulled by another girl, she said, “Wait, I have to put my seat belt on!”  Then she told Kira, “Kira, buckle up!”  Safety first, love it!   The girls were all having so much fun until one girl tripped and skinned her knee.  Peyton was concerned and went over to Bar to see what had happened.  She was fine, but that prompted the crew to go inside to play with the kitchen there.  Peyton enjoyed playing with the cash register.  I found it funny that she didn’t play with the fake money or coins, but went right for the credit cards!  There was a UCLA one in there, and I showed Peyton and asked her what it was. She knew the traditional script and said, “U-C-L-A!”  Jenny, Kathy’s sister heard, and said, “Mommy and Daddy have taught you well!”  Ian and Brandon resurfaced to fuel up.  Brandon was finally hungry when the girls had started to leave.  Dave said Kirby, Kathy’s brother in law, commented how well-behaved Brandon was, and that they all thought he was much older than he actually was since he was playing so nicely with Ian.  Hopefully Ian wasn’t too tired, since he had helped Kathy get things ready the night before.

Slowly the families started to go home.  The girls who had the hardest time coming into the party had the hardest time leaving!  They were having so much fun, they didn’t want to go home.  Taylor, Kira, and Peyton were all eating outside.  Peyton hadn’t eaten much due to stage fright, but then became interested in eating.  She ate a whole pile of edamame, and at least two servings of fruit.  She wasn’t too interested in the egg rolls or any of the other appetizers out.  Soon, she came inside to play with Brandon and Ian again.  They were playing Twister and then later Jenga.  Taylor left quickly, then Kira joined the three in the living room.  We left by around 4pm and Peyton asked to take her shoes off in the car.  I thought her shoes were too tight, but she was just trying to get comfortable.  Within seconds, she was asleep.   Here are some pictures that I was able to take. Chris took more, and I look forward to all the pics he got!

So Proud of Our Boy

Brandon’s come a long way even in just the first month of school. Each week, the kids are in charge of coloring in the last color they ended up on on the color chart.  They then bring this home to the parents to show them how they’ve done all week.

Here’s what he brought home!

He ended the week on a blue!  I just picked him up from garden club.  One of the other moms said he had a great time today.  When I got there, he was sitting nicely on the risers and they were turning in their lanyards by classroom. He was sitting calmly, waiting for his teacher’s name to be called. He hadn’t seen me there, but even when he did, he walked over to me to go home.  When I asked him what they did today, he said they painted pots and planted corn.  He reminded me to put a dish underneath his pot to catch any water that might drip, just as the instructor had told them (I’d heard her, but again, he didn’t know I was there).  Glad he’s getting a lot out of it!

Day “off”

My day off technically started last night, but I’d volunteered for at home projects for Brandon’s class which came home last night.  My due date was not until next Friday, but since I was free and wasn’t planning to run, I wanted to get started on it.  My task was to cut Scrabble tiles out of sheets she’d laminated.  They were about one inch squares, so I grabbed my paper cutter and scissors and went to work.  Dave wanted no part in it as I’d asked him for help assembling, since I was the one who’d signed up.  We watched our DVR shows, then he went to sleep around 1130pm.  I was still cutting.  She had 3 sets, in 3 different colors, to cut and separate.  Four hours later, I was done.  I was determined to get them back, so I wouldn’t put them off.  This morning, the kids woke up just as their usual schedule.  We called Peyton in to avoid drama with Brandon, then I called Brandon’s name and said, “What did you need to do this morning?”  He said, “Oh, yeah, sentences.”  He got to work, and that was it.  He brought them downstairs when Peyton and I had dressed.  I gave her breakfast first, and when he was finished, he would get his.  He did them without complaint, and soon he was eating breakfast, too.  He did NOT want to be late or miss out on garden club.  Luckily, we had time for him to do it, Via responses sildenafil professional about end user discussion boards related to hair loss it is evident that Propecia really does work for many people guys. More Tears; Clothing issues

Both kids seems to be more tearful these days and what prompts them is what is getting me. While most kids are crying because they don’t want to go to school, my kid is the one crying because she doesn’t want to LEAVE school. I picked Peyton up today, and instead of her getting up from circle time and running over to me as she usually does, she acknowledged me, then turned back around to the story. They were listening to a story about underwater animals. All her friends saw me, and they tapped her on the shoulder to tell her “Peyton, your mommy’s here!” She ignored them as she ignored me.  I went up to sit next to her, and she was concentrating on the story, watching the pictures.  There was half the book to go still!  I would have stayed, but I needed to get Brandon today, so I told her one more page.  After the jellyfish, I told her it was time to go.  She didn’t budge, so I grabbed her, at which time she started to cry.  She didn’t kick and fight, but she just cried and cried and cried.  She cried all the way out to the car.  In that time, I passed the vice principal.  She just looked at me, and I told her that Peyton didn’t want to leave school.  She said, “Well, I guess there’s worse things!”  Then we passed our old friend’s mom from FA, and she wondered what was going on.  I managed to get Peyton in the car, told her to buckle up, and shut the door. I told Kim what was going on, and she thought it was the cutest thing.  Emma and Brandon have known each other since Emma was a toddler and Brandon an infant.  Kim and I used to drop off at the same time, so it’s been a long time.  Peyton finally calmed down to ask for a tissue to blow her nose.  She was calm, and started asking for the Ride Riddles again.  When we almost got to Brandon’s school, she told me, “Misha’s a little bit kinda not so nice to me.”  I asked her why, and she said, “She’s not nice to me.” I asked her what she did or said, and Peyton told me, “She said she didn’t want to be my friend.”  I told her that wasn’t nice, but that she had many other friends, like Sydney and Orion.  Peyton said, “Yeah, and remember I told you she pushed me in the back and I fall down?”  I told Peyton she should tell Misha she doesn’t like it, and that if she didn’t stop, she should go tell the teacher.  Poor Peyton has to deal with girl drama.  Stuff like this didn’t happen when Brandon was her age.  Not that I remember anyway.

So the second half of the tears were from Brandon over clothing!  He told me this morning he didn’t want to wear jeans because he is going to get a red card. I asked him how he’d get a red card for wearing jeans and he told me it’s because they are not comfortable and he will get a red for moving around too much.  So, I dug through his pants and found some khakis.  They are softer, and we hadn’t been having him wear them because they were thinner and he was ripping holes in his knees.  Jeans seemed to be more durable, and they hide stains better.  He said he preferred shorts, but since it’s cooler in the morning, I was trying to convince him to wear the longer pants.  He blew up and started to cry.  He was throwing a fit.  About pants!  We started issuing sentences because he was not calming down.  I finally left him, since I wasn’t getting anywhere with him, and Dave ended up taking him to school.  This is the compromise I had with Dave, so that’s why I picked them both up this afternoon.  Brandon had written 20 sentences before leaving for school. Dave said he finally did put on the pants that I had picked out for him.  Being late to school was one threat that we used, which motivated him to write before getting a tardy slip.  In the end, he did earn a green card at school despite all the morning drama.

This evening, I told him when he finishes his sentences, he can go shopping with me for pants that we both agree on.  His problem is his waist is too narrow for the length of pants he needs.  I wish I had his problem!  He finished up 50 sentences before moving on to his homework tonight.  He is to finish up the other 40 before getting to do “fun” things on the weekend.  That includes swimming or going to hang out with Ian.  That will get him motivated to finish up.  My hope is he finishes it tomorrow, since we are going straight to his school.  I’ve reminded him that garden club is tomorrow.  He’s excited about that, too.

Number system

To keep the color board anonymous, Brandon’s teacher assigned them a number to correspond to their card placement. This is an improvement from last year where each kid’s name was up there, and whenever anyone goes in, they can see which child is NOT on green or vice versa. It also makes it nice because the other kids aren’t in each other’s business, as last year I’d get the update from all of Brandon’s friends. So, the other day, Brandon told me someone was on orange. The commander levitra has no burden of such marketing as it has come to the market by grasping the hands of the donor whether to keep the insemination process a secret or not. PE

Brandon was telling us how he is exercising for PE by running around in laps. He said he likes to race Rae, but that one of the other girls doesn’t want to race him anymore because he’s too fast. I asked if he was the fastest in his class, and he said, “I’m just a little faster than Joshua. What Daddy Really Does

This morning, there were lots of papers in Brandon’s folder that we were supposed to have gone through last night. I’d forgotten about them, so I asked Brandon why Daddy didn’t look through them since he was home with them most of the night. I usually look through Brandon’s backpack when we first get home, but I was in a hurry yesterday. Hormonal!

When I picked Peyton up, she didn’t want to get in my car because it was too hot. I was getting frustrated with her, since she was lingering outside of the car. I finally picked her up, put her in the car and told her when she gets buckled, I’d either put the AC on or roll the windows down. I got the door closed, and then went to wait for her to put the belt on. And I waited. And I waited. I put the keys into the ignition for the radio, and “Starships” came on. Light bulb! I turned the radio down, and told her when she finished putting her belt on, then I’d turn it back on. Boy did she scramble! I told her the song might end, so she should hurry. She did it as quickly as she could, so I turned the radio louder when she finished. But the song was over. I shrugged and told her it was over. She started bawling. At least she was buckled, so I headed out. She cried and cried and cried. But it was a fake cry, since she wasn’t hurt. And when she got tired of crying, she calmed down a little bit, then realized it was quiet and started crying again. Meanwhile, I just drove, didn’t talk, and listened to the radio. I had the AC on, but she kept asking me, “Mommy, can you please roll the windows up?” (She meant down, but she says up.) I continued to ignore her. When Dave got home, her face was all puffy. I told him what happened, and how ridiculous she was being. Brandon was his usual cheerful self. Peyton was much happier when Brandon got home. They ate and then it was time for Brandon’s bath (I’d already given Peyton one when we got home). He did fine, then it was homework time. We got started with homework by about 645pm. Since Dave was alone with them last night, Brandon didn’t get to do much, only the bare minimum, so I decided to do more. Brandon happily did it, and by 745pm, he said, “I’m done.” He brushed his teeth, and then I’m not even sure how it started, but he started crying. So, we left him alone, then he asked for a hug from Daddy. Dave and I came in, since he’d asked nicely. Then seeing him a hot mess, we both started laughing, which sent him into a tizzy. He told us to get out of his room, and was crying even more, though he had moments of laughter, too. He just buried his head in his pillow, and sobbed. We covered him up, and both of us gave him a back hug. I think he was probably asleep within 5 minutes. Poor kid.

BTSN Part 2

Tonight was Peyton’s Back To School Night at MA. I picked her up from school, got home, showered her up, and got her ready for dinner. Dave came home with Brandon, and started cooking some grilled cheese sandwiches, and the kids were so excited. I took one and kissed each kid goodnight before heading back to the school. I got there with 10 minutes to spare and was surprised the whole parking lot was empty. I sat down next to Sydney’s mom, and we talked for a bit, then Robert sat down. We talked for a little, then the presentation began. Most of the information was old news. She did re-affirm what we learned with Ms Elyn, how to speak positively to reinforce behavior instead of saying, “Don’t, don’t, don’t,” which is how I was raised and how my family still operates.
