Yesterday, after our trip to TJ’s, I was making my salad/lunch for the following day. I usually put in kale, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, frozen corn and frozen edamame. Peyton watched me buy all the veggies, as they usually last me one week. She asked me, “Can I have a tomato?” I had to repeat it back to her, as I didn’t think I heard her right. It was a pack of tomatoes with the vine still attached, and they are large enough that I have to quarter them to make them bite-sized for my salad. I asked her if she wanted a little bit or the whole thing, and if cut up or not. She asked me to cut it up, and she said she wanted the whole thing. I was skeptical, as previously, she’d only eaten the ones from our plant. She had other veggies she was working on, like the carrot I’d just cut up for her. But, she finished the tomato before the carrot, and even proudly showed me it was gone! She didn’t even drown it in her hummus like I thought she would. She told me that she couldn’t wait until Daddy got home, and she’d tell him. I told her that when we became friends (I wasn’t sure how to say ‘dating’), he didn’t eat tomatoes, but finally, I convinced him to eat them. She laughed! I asked her what she thought Dave’s response would be. She said, “Well, I think he’ll say, ‘Ok.'” She was right. I purposely took the tomato out of her burger yesterday, maybe I shouldn’t have!!
Change of Plans
Last night, I was researching you-pick fruit places, but this morning, we changed our minds, and we decided to hang out at home. We ended up cleaning up, and Dave did a massive amount of yardwork. Brandon tripped Peyton on purpose while we were walking around by the public square downtown. She caught herself with her hands, but he was in big trouble. His consequence was to do work at home, and he had to pay money for the hole he made in her pants. Dave didn’t know the hole was there already, but the way she fell, it could’ve easily put a hole in her pants. He was also to not watch tv the rest of the day, and he had to read, and he even offered himself up to math as well. So I supervised that while Peyton napped. Brandon was supposed to nap, too, but since he was talking to Peyton, keeping her up, I got him out to read more instead. If he’s in trouble, he might as well be getting smarter. Later, Peyton woke up, and since I needed to listen to him read, I had her get her work, too. She was talking about the names of the animals and babies in her possession. Her baby doll’s name is Nallory. I had to clarify, “Mallory, like Grant’s sister’s name?” She said, “NO, Nallory, with an ‘N’.” Interesting. I asked her what she called her pink seahorse. She said her name was “Fifi.” She named her the last time we got our hair cut, and she still calls her that. The name hasn’t changed. I’m not sure where she gets these names, but she’s creative about it for sure. After Dave was done with the gardening, Brandon wrapped up his education, and I went to check the mail from yesterday. I’d ordered a book that Kathy had suggestion for vocabulary development through cartoons, and the book was to have arrived yesterday. I asked Brandon to open the package, and his first response, “Cool!” I asked him to read through the first word, “Abhor”, and he quickly skimmed it, then put it down. Oops, that was a fail. But at bed, he asked to take the book upstairs, and he was excited to read more. Maybe it will sink in, which I was planning on, since he’s such a visual learner. Dave went in search for dinner, while I headed to TJ’s for the weekly run. Peyton and I got back first, as we didn’t know Dave and Brandon were eating there (WHAT?!) She had left her panda ear muffs at home, at my request, but immediately put them on again when we got home. She was talking louder as a result, and told us, “I can’t hear you, I’m deaf!” You may be able to see her shiner on her right eye…it’s like a half-moon from under her eye under her cheek bone, sweeping up to the bridge of her nose, ending at corner of her eye. It’s changing colors, and hopefully it goes away before graduation on Friday. She had carrots in her mouth when I took the picture!
Reminders
When I’m watching Brandon, I can’t just watch. I have to “coach” from the sidelines, and finally, today, I asked him, “When you hear me, do you think I’m annoying or are they good reminders?” He thought about it, and then said, “They’re good reminders.” Dave said Brandon doesn’t listen to him, and he will talk back. But every time I talk to Brandon, he will listen immediately, and will look more alive or get in his ready position. When I give him a thumbs up, he will nod in agreement, with a serious look. Baseball Recap
Brandon’s game with his own team was first at 930am. Peyton and I left at 915 am, and I hurried her to the park. We were there just as Brandon was up, since we were the visiting team. I had the ipad available for Peyton; the first time I’ve broken down since Dave busted it on when he was solo some time last year. I wanted to watch the game, and since we didn’t have a meal to cover, I did what I had to do. I ate my breakfast and coffee, and chatted with Coach from the stands, since we were sitting first row. At some point in the game, Coach Tom thought Peyton was gone! She was sitting in my shadow, since I wanted to shield her from the sun, and she was busy working on a puzzle on the ipad. I got her to do 49 pieces, to really keep her busy! She did about 3-4 of them at least during the game, along with the other games she has. By 11 am, as Brandon’s game was winding down, Peyton and Dave took off to their field. I headed over with Brandon to the Giants game which was starting just at 11 am. They had to wait for Brandon to be done before starting! I had to fight with Brandon about snack shack versus his commitment to the Giants. I knew it would be a problem due to the scheduling, and I’d warned him about it. At the time I’d warned him, he was fine with it, but when it was go time, he did just what I thought he would. I grabbed the ticket out of his hand, while he stormed off, crying, to the Giants team. Coach Tom got on his case, too, shooing him away! Since he wanted a donut, and they are limited supply for the morning games, I got him one while he was warming up. I watched him during the game, “coaching” him from the sidelines to make sure he was safe. He was playing first base, and I wanted to be sure he was an asset for the Giants. He did a good job at first base, making a few plays. He also batted well, getting a 2-run single. During the 4th inning, he was shifted to center field. Then, his attention span started to wane. I was trying to get him engaged, and the team mom acknowledged he was probably pretty tired. The next time he was in the dugout, he was sneaking around by his backpack, with his back to the stands. I sauntered over to him, since his back was turned, and I asked what he was doing. He spit out this giant wad of pink goop, with pink strings on his lips. I’d seen the pink wad on the pole, but I didn’t think anything of it at the time, other than it was gross, and I hoped it didn’t get ON Brandon’s bag. I didn’t know it BELONGED to him!!! I had him put it in the trash, and I just said, “One week.” He knew what I meant. I figured out that he had suckered his girl teammate into giving him some (such a sweet talker, literally!). Later, Dave and Peyton came over to watch the last part of the game. She was getting hungry, so I gave her some of the fruit I’d packed earlier. The Giants pulled out a victory the Cubs, Dave’s “nemesis” team. The Cubs’ coach was so mad, he made his team run laps after the game. The Giants coach awarded each player TWO snack shack tickets, but Brandon willingly gave them to me, knowing he was in big trouble. Dave told me he tried to sneak tic tacs from the twins at his game, so now he’s out two weeks. He really hasn’t learned his lesson that his parents are (still) smarter than him. Hopefully we will remain so…I don’t even know that he knew what to do with the gum, since it was just a solid wad in his mouth that he was sucking on. He even told me he was just sucking on it! After the games, Peyton got her snack – a snow cone. Then, we headed over to the Arts in the park. By the time we’d gotten to the park, she said she was done with her snow cone (even after telling me not to take too many bites when she was putting her shoes on). She’d only gotten the top off the cone, and hadn’t dug down below the top of the paper. I don’t know if Dave telling her that it’s not good for her, and that next time she should get a malt (since it has calcium) influenced her to be done with it or not, but either way, she didn’t finish her dessert.
We’d attended the arts in the park two years ago, when I took the kids alone with Peyton in a stroller. Brandon didn’t want to go, as of last night, and put up a little stink today, but I wanted to check it out. Jenni was going to be there promoting summer camps, and I wanted Peyton to experience it again since she’s older and can do more. Some of the activities have age limits, and it was a bit age inappropriate for her last time. We hit up a few booths, and the kids got to make a balloon drum, a carp kite, sand art, and a caterpillar pencil. As we walked away from the park, Brandon declared, “Wow, that was fun!” Glad to know he had fun, especially since he was the one that didn’t want to go. Dave wanted to take off as he had to go pick up his car (he didn’t want to walk back, even though we were closer since we were at the rec center), and he was meeting up with other team Coaches for a little camaraderie in the league. The organizer wanted all the coaches to get together, since they’re all going to be coaching each other’s kids at some point in our time in the league. We dropped him off to get his car, then we headed home to eat our In and Out burgers that we got. Brandon got a two patty burger, Peyton a regular hamburger, and me with protein style, so I could eat fries! Suddenly, pizza and beer were no appealing to me, so I didn’t care that Dave was going out without us. I got the kids in and showered up, and they’re playing Scrabble nicely while I blog. Since it’s so late (4pm), we’re going to forego naps, and hope for an early bedtime today. We’ll have to figure out what to do tomorrow, but hopefully it’s something without sun, since we were in it for a long time.
Here is Brandon’s first at-bat as a Giant, along with his picture in his Giants uniform (minus his blue belt!) . I was also able to get the audio of the opposite coach saying, “Big hitter, back up!” Dave thinks I love to hear this, but I know that HE loves hearing it more.

Baseball Morning
Today Dave asked me for help taking his car in for an oil change. I looked to see how far the place was, and I decided to help him by taking it myself, and then running back. I get two birds with one stone! It was 3.2 miles per the directions. I dropped it off at the place off of the Chang’s street, and then I started my run back. The problem was that Brandon had to be at the field to warm up by 9 am, and Dave’s appointment was 815 am. I left a little early to get started earlier. Dave didn’t want to take Peyton; I didn’t want her to go with him, either, since I’d have to hurry to get her at the park, to not have her there so long. As I neared the house, I saw the garage door open, and I walked in the back door. Both kids were in uniform watching TV. Dave looked up and said, “Wow, that was fast!” It was only 838 am, and I think it was a shorter distance than I’d mapped out earlier. Both of us were happy, since he could keep Peyton at home, and I could shower up and relax before walking Peyton over to the game. Win-win!
Reading
I get email updates from school whenever Brandon takes AR reading tests. I’ve seen him bomb some Dr Seuss books, while recently, I received positive reports on the following book titles: “Vampires”, “Mummies”, and “Yeti!” I looked them up, and they were all 4th grade reading While your rational, conscious mind has a new agenda and may want to change, the subconscious is hooked on what has always been and the old way of thinking and being “on its head.” The bottom line on line levitra here is that many men suffer from premature ejaculation, which means failure in prolonging the ejaculation in attainment of full climax. Father-Daughter Dance
I’d bought tickets for Dave and Peyton from our walk a thon and auction to the father-daughter dance. It was intended for both to get to know more people at school. When they got home, Dave told me he did talk to some dads, but Peyton was shy with some older girls who tried to include Peyton in their dancing. Peyton enjoyed some popcorn, and she had a big balloon that she proudly showed me. There were Zinc is an indispensable trace element in human buy levitra australia hartbuildersinc.com body. Here are the pics I took (okay there were a lot, but I couldn’t decide which ones I liked better…though I had to narrow for FB):
Friday!
This morning, the kids woke up a bit later than usual again. I let them get up whenever they were going to, and they ended up running into each other in the hallway scaring each other. Brandon was coming over to tell us he was dressed, while Peyton was coming out getting to the restroom. We got off to school, and we only stayed briefly, as we had to get to our field trip. The field trip was good in that we had O and S, Peyton’s friends. But Peyton melted down in the bus, as we had to sit 3 to a seat. She expected to sit next to me, but we had to separate. Luckily, Connor’s mom offered Peyton a seat with Connor and Daxton. She happily agreed, sat on the aisle, and was totally fine. They played word/rhyming games, number games, and other guessing games. Melanie’s former life was a teacher, and it served her well to deal with Peyton’s drama. My other girls were sitting quietly next to me, keeping each other entertained. More drama at the playground, when Peyton was not playing nicely with her friends. The whole field trip was just playing at a park, on a huge structure. I wrestled with her, creating a big scene, and Melanie offered help again, saying that her girls give her the same trouble. Ms Elena saw the commotion as well, but I talked sense into Peyton with the use of my timer. I gave her a 5 minute time-out to settle down. She finally did, and she was reasonable after that. I told her that I wasn’t allowed on the next field trip for all that trouble she caused (it’s during the middle of the week, and I wasn’t signed up, but she doesn’t need to know that!). Ms Elena checked in with me to see that everything was okay. She said she hadn’t wanted to interfere, which I’m glad she didn’t, so it didn’t look like I couldn’t handle things. Lunch went well, and everyone ate their food. It was super hot in the sun, and tolerable in the shade. We cleaned up and headed back on the buses in time for nap at school. I was taking Peyton with me, so I told her she had to sleep on the way to the mall in PA. We picked Brandon up from school, and they both were behaving, which I was thankful for. Brandon was to eat his lunch, while Peyton was to nap. She told me she wasn’t tired, then this:
We went to the mall, got my errand done (my Fuelband wasn’t working), and then we headed to the library. We returned our books, but we weren’t able to get more, since the library was closed for Staff Development Day. Of all days! We then headed to 85 degrees, and each kid got to pick a pastry. They both picked reasonably sized buns, probably because they knew they’d be vetoed. We headed back home, and I gave each a half a bun, some grapes and some milk for their snack. Both were in swim gear, and we headed out for lessons. The kids were reminded of the rules of sitting on the steps, while the other one was with Ms Sarah. I shared a look with Sarah, telling her that Peyton had learned her lesson last time. This was the first lesson back in the pool since the near-drowning, though Peyton insists she didn’t almost drown. Both did a great job, and they are learning more and more when they do listen! They are both getting the hang of things, and I was pleased with their progress today. Dave showed up during lessons, and we each took a kid home. Dinner was served, but we were interrupted by a guy selling meat. We bought both seafood and meat, in what looked like (and we hope) was a legit operation. Our neighbor bought, too! Peyton and Dave took off for the Father Daughter dance after taking some photos. More on that later. Then Brandon and I ate here before heading up to get ice cream! We made it back after Dave and Peyton, then both were sent to bed.

So, Brandon was keeping score, and ruled it a tie.
