There’s always something to laugh about when Brandon is around.  I served him a spinach salad to start, with some dried cranberries, a few carrots, and the spinach leaves.  No dressing, at first.  He ate all the cranberries first, then nibbled on the carrots.   He was eating it just fine, then saw my slightly moistened spinach salad, and asked, “What’s that?”  I tried to pass it off that it was the same thing he was eating, but he wasn’t buying it.  “I want dip on it.”  So I got him some raspberry salad dressing, and dabbed it on his plate.   He finished the dressing I had given him but still had some leaves.  I told him he had to eat all the leaves, then I’d get more dressing.  So he proceeded to shove a whole handful of raw spinach into his mouth.  He kinda looked like Popeye!  After he had fulfilled his end of the bargain, I gave him some more dressing for his carrots.  And they said kids don’t like to eat their veggies!  We’ll see how long this lasts. 
After dinner, he wanted to listen to “Mamma Mia!”  They said this weekend that most of the women went to go see Mamma Mia while most of the men were drawn to the Dark Knight.  Well, I want to see Dark Knight, and I’m sure Brandon would love Mamma Mia.  I found the song online (can’t find my soundtrack at the moment), and Brandon wanted to listen to it over and over.  He’s even got some of the chorus down.  He knows, “Mamma Mia, here we go again.”   I’ll have to find my soundtrack so we can rock out to Abba together.  Even Dave knows the songs, since he grew up listening to it with his sister.

Finally, since Dave is still playing softball, I had to put Brandon to sleep.  Whenever I put Brandon to sleep, it’s usually about an 1 hour earlier than when Dave’s around.  There’s less distractions when it’s just Brandon and me here.  Problem is, he has a fit if someone is not there with him in the bed while he falls asleep.  Last time, my stand was taken when he flailed his legs and kicked me.  I refused to stay with him, resulting in puffy face.  Well, this time, I laid down some ground rules; in order for me to stay on the bed with him, there would be 3 rules: 1) No kicking, 2) lie down, and 3) close your eyes.  Now, it was about 745pm when I turned on the violin music and issued the rules.   He did well with the first two.  He had his feet turned the other way, and he did lie down.  Problem was with rule number 3.  We’ve never told him this before, but I figure, it would hasten the process of sleeping (since I’m usually so impatient with this, which is why I rarely am the one who puts Brandon to sleep).  Trouble is, it’s difficult for a kid who sleeps with his eyes open (like Daddy) to close his eyes to go to sleep.  It was like a joke for him – he would squint, blink, and then go into this rapid eye movement just trying to get his eyes to close.  He knew if he opened them there was a chance I was leaving, so he did make an honest attempt.  Every time I’d catch him with his eyes open, he start to giggle, and then squeeze them shut.  Well, overall it worked!  After about 15 minutes (sometimes it can be up to an hour!), he was out.  Yay for me – now I have time to blog 🙂
