First Jamboree

Today was the first jamboree for the girls’ Japanese league. Unfortunately, it happened to start right at the same time as the City league’s first game. Boo for scheduling. Dave went to coach that, while Brandon, Peyton, and I grabbed a ride with the Yins. 8 of us fit into the minivan. The girls were playing the host team first. They are a tough team, as they start enrolling back in kindergarten, whereas our girls only start in the 2nd grade, (which is why P and H started in 1st grade with the city league).
Tip off – Peyton was up against a girl that was a head taller and probably had 30# on her. But, she won the tip off, as the girl tipped it to our team.

We went down 0-4 after many shots on goal. I don’t think we scored until ten minutes in. Peyton was able to get inside the paint, but we could not buy a goal! Finally, shots started happening, and we were able to tie it up, then go ahead.

It was a close game, and at half time, free throws were performed to add to the score. In the end, the score was 19-15, as we edged out the host team.

There was a one hour break. Meanwhile, Dave was texting that the game where he did not think the team would score any, ended at 18-18. This is so great, as Peyton and H are definitely strong players on that team as well, so it was promising. Both girls had wanted to play in that game, since it was a game against their “rivals” from school. The coach’s daughter, one of their better players, was also not at that game, so we’ll see them later in the season, hopefully with full squads on both sides. Tricia was dropping G off at rehearsal and F at home for a project. So, we were all carless. But the whole team just hung out and even threw a football around that Ryan had brought. We have a team of soccer players, so they are great at going up and down the court. Peyton struggles with this, as her cardio could use some work. But F noticed how strong Peyton’s passes were, and she wondered how she was so strong. I think it’s all the softball work and push ups/burpies that she does at softball practice.

We were going to play at 12 pm, and Dave showed up about a half an hour before. Ryan was telling Dave about how he strategized, as the team was getting through our team, until he put Peyton and Hope at the top of the court. The other team couldn’t get through them. They shut down their game! If they went to H, she’d steal the ball and pass it down to Peyton. If they went to Peyton, she’d steal it, look up, and there was H. These girls have a chemistry, three years going now. In the video of Peyton taking it down, H set a screen for her, which allowed her to get through, down the court. Ryan also talked to his point guards, Hannah, H and P. He asked them to use more of their left, right and left hands (H is left-handed). He wanted to tie their dominant hands behind their backs.

The girls changed from blue to white jerseys now that they were playing a SF team. This was an even tougher team on defense. Their first few attempts at offense were shut down by steals. They had to pass cleaner, and dribble with more protection, as they were not getting any looks at the basket. Finally, they settled down, but they were gassed. The other team, with my pharmacy school classmate’s daughter, were just starting out.
These work by increasing the level of testos in the body significantly and this is really a great advantage. viagra levitra Recently generic medicines make viagra in canada for effective and easily cure of erectile dysfunction problem. This game ended up even more a blow out despite the slow start.

While we were all wrapping up over snacks, Ryan pointed out to each of the girls how proud he was of their work. One girl is pretty timid, but she showed up on defense today, and even took a few shots. Our smallest girl on the team got a few steals, and did what she could on defense, knowing that she couldn’t hit a basket, yet. Ryan told H and P how proud he was after all the other girls had left. He asked them to step up together, and they did. H came up to ask if Peyton could go to her indoor soccer game (yes, she still had other stuff to do). I told her she definitely could take Peyton, as she had already finished up her piano, and that she would read later when Brandon had practice. So, we went for sandwiches first. We were close to the college, and there was “frat” row, with some parties already underway this Saturday day, which was nice and sunny. Brandon was a bit intrigued, especially as Ryan egged him on to go check things out (Ryan was in a frat). But in the end, he declined, knowing he was just kidding. Peyton said she was going to go with H, and then Brandon asked, “OH, can I go, too?” I looked at him sternly and told him to behave. So, they headed out behind us for the quick drive to the sandwich shop. Dave and I ordered first, then we saved seats. While Peyton arrived, her SCU softball coach arrived. She was the one who ran the clinics she attended in the fall. I double dared her to go say hi. H trip dog dared her. Peyton totally declined, but then she said Coach turned around and smiled at her. Then, she came over, and I said, “Hi, Coach!” She started talking to Peyton, who then answered her directly. She told Peyton that SHE played basketball, too, in HS. I told her that I wondered if it’d be possible for her to continue doing both. She said, “ABSOLUTELY!” We chatted with her until our food was done, then we headed to the tables. She told Peyton, “I hope to see you out there again soon!” Peyton was big-time smiling! During lunch, Tricia got a call from F who was out of popsicle sticks.
But since they were not going to be home for awhile, she would have to wait. I offered up ours, since we had a big box sitting in our spare room that Dave never used for a science night project he was working on. I offered to walk it over when we got back home.

After lunch, we let Peyton go, while we went to Costco. Brandon had fun with the two of us alone. It rarely happens, since Peyton doesn’t really like going anywhere without us. We came home, and Dave unloaded our stuff, while I “walked my dog” to F to give her the popsicle sticks. We turned right around after the delivery. I forgot to ask for water for my dog, but he made it home. We started cleaning, while Brandon went outside to shoot his nerf gun at targets. He was so excited to do so! But, soon, he got bored, and said, “I’m going to come in because it’s getting dark out here (it was not really)”, but I think it’s because he missed having a playmate. Nerf guns weren’t as fun alone he was realizing. And if P had been there, she most definitely would have been out there with him.

Soon, we got a text they were walking over. P and H were scootering, while G had the dog. P was dutifully wearing a helmet. She came inside, and then showered up. I got her reading (she did one hour so she could write it down for tomorrow). Brandon is now off to practice from 8 to 10 pm! So late. And it was right after F’s practice from 6-8. Never a dull moment, which is why I’m glad that Peyton was free to go for a playdate today.

Peyton was telling me she and Hope were talking about who they like. Hope was telling Peyton that she kind of, a little bit, liked a boy named H. I asked when they were talking about it. She said when they were in the car. I asked when, and she told me when they went to the Stanford game together. The dads didn’t hear, but it was still risky talking about it with them. What a week

It was a short week, starting on Tuesday, but it was jam-packed!
Peyton had picked up a cold over the new year, so she was sent to bed at 745 pm on Tuesday. She slept 11.5 hours until Wednesday morning. Brandon got his stitches out on Tuesday, and what was thought to be an easy removal, turned out to be quite the ordeal. The skin had grown into the stitches, and he had to soak in saline for almost an hour to soften the skin. We’d kept his skin dry all week long, and we’d done too good of a job! It didn’t help that the clinicians questioned why they were so tight, why we were told to wait 7 days versus a typical 5 for facial lacerations, and why the antibiotics. Glad he’ll live!

Brandon was changing teachers with whom he was volunteering. His current teacher, his former 1st grade teacher, is having a baby, so he is switching to his second grade teacher, who was Peyton’s second grade teacher as well. I reminded him of the switch (and later was informed that the teacher was there for one more week).

Brandon had a volleyball game that was a close on on Wednesday. I arrived in the middle of the third game, to see that one thrown away after two close wins in the first and second. The fourth game was also a close loss, and the fifth is only played to 15. They couldn’t pull that one out either. Seems the holiday funk couldn’t be shaken, as Brandon did not serve well that day. Thursday, I cancelled Peyton’s piano as her teacher is very sensitive with germs, especially as she is also a singer. The teacher had also picked something up, so it worked out well. It allowed Peyton to get her homework, reading and piano done before getting Brandon, who was at volleyball. I got them home, fed them a snack, the drove to Stanford to meet Dave for the basketball game. It was a good thing they’d gone with Dave a few weeks ago, as they were the ones who told me where to park, even with their questionable memory on things. I got us to the main area, and they pointed me to the free parking lot where they parked last time. We had seats through the alumni section, so we were surrounded by Bruin fans! The kids eagerly awaited Dave’s arrival, as we were super early, having been one of the firsts to enter the stadium, and definitely in our area. Dave showed up shortly thereafter seeing us as the only ones in our section. He took the kids to get food for dinner, and we enjoyed that while watching warm ups. The Kaos came right before tip off, and we waved to them from down our row, as we were separated by two seats. It was super warm up in the nose bleed section, and we were sitting in bench seating. The kids reminded me that they sat in the plush, actual chairs of one of the big donors. The game was looking like a victory up until the final minutes, when the Cardinal started coming back! They ended up tying up the game, sending it into OT. They almost won in OT, when one of the Bruins launched a three pointer to tie it up at the buzzer. I was texting Michelle, so I missed it, but Brandon definitely let me know! He’s become a staunch Bruin fan, and I’m sure he was excited to have the game extended, meaning he could stay out later. He did whisper to me that he was tired, but he did have a surge of energy with that play!

Sadly, they didn’t pull out the double OT victory, but did extend the kids’ bedtime by almost an hour. We brought two tired kids home, but they quickly showered and got ready for bed, but not before almost 11 pm. Peyton was leading flag salute on Friday with her class. That motivated her to get ready in the morning, as she was supposed to be at school by 8 am in the office. We managed that, having fixed their lunch the night before, and feeding them an easy breakfast at home. Brandon was happy about getting to school earlier than usual than when going with me. Since I was one of the earlier parents, I was appointed teacher’s helper, as she was on yard duty. I corralled the straggler kids who didn’t know where to go. I had the scripts and assignments, and helped the kids outside and later inside. It got me a front row ticket to see the kids. Peyton was one of the last to go.

Here is her announcement of the caught being good for her fifth grade, former softball teammate.
Normally, flag salute is done outside in front of the entire school, but when it is cold, the announcements are made in the office on the intercom. The intercom is piped through the principal’s phone, and from the office, there is a bit of echo.

I headed off to work after the students returned to class. I worked until it was time to pick Peyton up again. We did piano then headed to get Brandon early for their dental appointment. He was concerned about when and where to meet, but when we arrived, the kids were waiting for the bell outside of PE. He saw me, and ran to tell the PE teacher, while I checked him out of the office. We met up through the office, and as I was going back to the car, his friends all saw him leaving, and started giving him emphatic GOODBYES! They were mocking and teasing him, and he told me, “Why did you pick me up in the front of the school!” He was a good sport about it, and it was funny to see. We got to the dentist, and both kids had x-rays and movies going. He picked Guardians of the Galaxy one (totally not kid-ok), and she picked “A dog’s purpose” because she LOVES dogs. They only saw less than 20 minutes, but both were so happy. In fact, while he was waiting for his dental assistant, Brandon was giggling. I looked over at him, and he pointed up to the screen and told me, “It’s so funny!” Both left without any cavities, and both had done fairly well with their brushing (yay for us for Peyton’s teeth, since it’s a reflection on us).

I went back to volleyball practice, and dropped Brandon off while I dropped off Brandon’s excuse letter to the office. We joined practice and I started practicing with Peyton. Coach asked her if she wanted to join, but she was very shy (which he knows). She wanted to practice bumping, so I did that with her but her arms turned all red. I didn’t want to hurt her as she had her first softball practice on Sunday. Dave came home and we headed to the library before Brandon’s basketball practice. We picked up several books for Peyton, and she read her time for Friday and Sunday. Brandon got some Walt Disney books for his biography that is due by the end of the month. Fun that he wants to learn more about the man behind the parks that we had just left.

Saturday was a nice day, and it was free for us! Dave headed to his favorite coffee place, in Santa Cruz! We hung out at the boardwalk and got the kids all access rider passes. They just left Dland, yet Dave felt the need to get them more rides. That suited us as we just hung out and waited for them. They do get along well when they are on their own to take care of themselves in lines. Except Peyton refused to go on the haunted house. Brandon went alone, and it was awhile before he came out! I was worried he’d gotten off the ride or was pulled off somehow in there. PEyton looked a bit worried at the suggestion, but soon, we saw him emerge. He said it was kinda scary. Peyton was trying to pump him for more details, and finally, she had the courage to go back with him. She came out and he told me she almost cried. She had her hoodie all the way up over her face, and didn’t really watch. So, that was a fail! After the rides, we headed to a little quaint restaurant that served craft beers and tapas. We all split food, then went to the ice cream shop. It was a great day out! While on our way back home, we picked up Peyton’s birthday card for Toys R Us. It was an invitation to get a free Lego build, but we didn’t have time to go shop. We were running out of daylight, so we returned home to get some softball and baseball practice in for both kids. They got about an hour in before there was an injury – Brandon hit a ball back under the screen, and it came up and hit Dave in the ankle. He came up a bit lame, and he wanted to get ice on it as soon as possible. We came home, had the kids shower up, then after ice was applied, we headed to the mall. We had to return some clothes that didn’t fit them from Christmas, so we braved the mall, which we had not been to in years, it seemed. We went to the two stores where their clothes were purchased and did what we needed to do, then left. We wanted to get to bed earlier as Brandon and I had our chocolate run on Sunday. Dave said we should go sleep downstairs to avoid waking them up. Brandon didn’t want to sleep alone downstairs, but when he found out I’d go, too, he quickly moved in. Peyton asked what she would do. I suggested (if I was going to be inconvenienced by Brandon) that she should sleep in my side of the bed. But I worried about her falling off, and she said, “Don’t worry, I’ll sleep in the middle, so I won’t fall off!” Dave shot me a glare. But she quickly moved in to our bed, while I was getting our things ready for an early morning.

Both kids fell asleep quickly. I set my alarm for 415 am. Brandon’s last words to me at bedtime were “good luck getting me up tomorrow morning.” He wasn’t wrong. But after 15 minutes of rolling around and complaining, he jumped up as if to say, “Let’s do this!” He’s such a good sport about these things.

He was happy to only be doing 5 k with me. I had parking and two shuttle passes, and we drove up to the City by 525 am. We passed the parking structure the first time, but we were early enough that we had it pretty easy. He wanted to stay in the warmth of the car, but I didn’t want to fight traffic to get on the bus. So, we waited a bit on the bus, and when it filled, we headed off. We were still very early, by 6 am, to wait over an hour for the start at 720 am. We went to the port a potties and I was the first to use the toilet paper, as I had to open it up, so at least it was clean. Last time we did the 15 k, we started much later, so we didn’t have such an early start. And we had a ride as Dave dropped us off last time. It was much colder this time as well! We huddled up in the merchandise tent and talked to another mom and her 13 year son. They were doing the 15k, so we left before they did after wishing them a fun race. I offered Brandon music, but he declined. I set myself up, and with 20 minutes to go, we corralled to B. He asked why we weren’t in A; I told him we are NOT that fast. The corrals went as far back as G or so, so I think it was good we were even where we were! When our corral was starting to move forward after A went, I was queuing up my music, and he was quite concerned that my phone would be dropped. He had his phone off in his breast pocket. I told him only to turn it on if he got lost. Last time, we held hands, but this time, I told him it was easier to NOT do that. He was fine with that, and we kept pace with one another. He knew that it was better to start running in the beginning to go with the flow. It was a bit more hilly than I recall, and he did a great job at the start, and was actually pacing me! I didn’t want to slow down as I didn’t want him to wait for me, so I pushed through for him. I hadn’t run in awhile, so I felt like I was struggling the first half mile. He kept running and looking back at me, so I ran up ahead to run side by side. He did a great job, and he stopped for water and chocolate chips on course. He grabbed me one, too, but I declined it. He only ate his, then tossed the second cup, as they must have been pretty thick to chew or eat while running. 3 miles was over sooner than we knew it, and I pushed him to run past each of the photographers. As we got our finisher’s mug, we took our requisite pictures, and he told me this one was more fun than the last one. He stayed awake during our drive down, though he was quiet. We got home and I showered up, awaiting Dave and peyton’s return home from the grocery store. We headed back to toys r us per our promise to them to return to spend their gift cards. Then, we headed to Peyton’s softball practice in San Jose for three hours, and straight to Brandon’s basketball game at 430 pm back in Daly City. At the end of the day, after the kids showered up, Brandon thanked ME for running with him today. He also asked when our next one was, if he could do a Disney one, and if we could do the hot chocolate one again. This prompted Peyton to ask, “What about me?” Brandon chimed in, “Well, you have to do what I did…you need to do the 15 k next year (she’d be the same age he was when he did his first 9 miler), and then 5K, and then you can pick whatever race you want.” She responded, “But I’m going to throw up!” She’s still scarred from that turkey trot where she over-exerted herself. Phew what a week.

Christmas Break

Christmas flew by in a flash! The kids were off school a week before Christmas, so Peyton went to CDC for the first three days, while Dave took Brandon to work. He got lucky, as there was a holiday luncheon one day, and a going away party another day. Peyton had fun at CDC mostly because Hope was there. Thursday, both kids stayed home alone, while my mom drove down to them. I got a few texts and tattle tales, but they were alive by the time my mom arrived to them. I worked a full day, since the piano teacher’s birthday was Thursday, taking over our normal time. Friday, we made up the time by going in the morning. I surprised them with a visit to the humane society after piano lessons. We were donating some sheets and blankets, and we got to walk around a bit and look at the animals. Both of them enjoyed this, though Brandon had a problem with the kitties making his nose itch. He did make a connection with one dog, who cocked his head to the side when Brandon did it to him. Peyton fell in love with a small chihuahua named “Creampuff” though it looked like he had visitors and she hoped he’d be adopted that day.
We waited for Dave to get back home and we went to donate some more things, both new and some ofthe kids’ clothes and toys. We were going to go watch a movie that night, but Dave couldn’t find tickets, so he decided to postpone it to the next morning.

Saturday, we woke up early on our first vacation day as a family to watch Coco. We ended up going up to the city to explore since my uncles from LA were at my grandma’s house. My mom had met up with them earlier in the day, and they were headed in a different part of the city. We went downtown to explore and look at my puppies and kitties in the Macy’s window. We headed to the fortune cookie factory for a few bags for the cousins and our trip down to LA. We went to look at the upside down Christmas tree. But the kids were not keen on the city, as they didn’t like the bums there. We met up for dinner with the family before we headed back home. We were going to return the next day for Xmas eve.

Sunday, we headed up relatively early, as Dave wanted coffee and breakfast in the City. We beat my parents to my grandma’s house, but my cousin, who is 2 months older than Brandon, had fun with him, playing cards and video games. My older girl cousin took Peyton to play with her. We hung out there all day long and waited until midnight to open gifts.

We eventually got up and opened our home presents before driving back up to my mom’s. My grandma wanted to take my dad out for dinner, so we met up with them halfway through. The kids were playing with their gifts, especially the Hatchimal that my parents got Peyton. My mom wanted to see it hatch, so Peyton showed her. We all watched! Twins came out, and Brandon asked her if he could help her raise one. He told my mom that he did really want one, too.

We had dinner, then we headed home to pack up as the plan was to leave super early on Tuesday. We packed up and we did head out just after 6 am on Tuesday. We stopped several times, but the drive down was pretty smooth as the kids slept much of it. Peyton was in regular clothes, but Brandon was in his jammies. We were meeting with friends, so we stopped by Target for some shopping before meeting up. We were meeting for froyo, so we had lunch at the food court where we were meeting them. PEyton saw some baby Hatchimals at the store, so Dave sent Peyton and I out to get lunch first, while he circled back with Brandon to get the babies. He took him to change in the car, and we had lunch. Peyton ate a whole poke bowl, while Brandon and Dave ate Class 302 food. We got to hang out with Katie, Pish and Debbie, while Kyle was at math class. We hung out there for awhile before Kyle had to get picked up, then we all headed back to their house before they had to meet up with family for dinner.

We went to check into our hotel room. We had several bags, and it was cold, so Brandon was wearing a beanie over his head. He volunteered to pull two bags. We had stopped after getting out of the elevator to regroup. Brandon suddenly turned and ran into the sharp edge of the wall. He wasn’t looking where he was going, and the beanie didn’t help. He fell to the ground, and I took over the bags but not before insisting he gets up. He was holding his beanie, when Peyton said, “EW, he’s bleeding!” I got him up to the room, and when he pulled his beanie away, he revealed a dark bloody gash. I looked at it, and said, “Let’s take him to the ER.” We went to the KP urgent care, but there was a line of over 20 people there. There were no ER services there. So we turned around and started calling ER’s. None would give us the wait time, but they would tell me there were 40 and 45 people waiting in each. We went to the closest just to check it out, as other ER’s that I was calling were at least 20 minutes away. There were not many people in the waiting room, and they processed us fairly quickly. We waited about 5 minutes before there was a woman who came out to triage him. He had been crying all along, most about the prospect of getting stitches. He was scared of needles and that it would hurt more than the act of the injury in the first place. She tried to calm him down and talk through his fear. But he cried more. Suddenly, Peyton welled up with tears and started to cry. She buried her face into my lap, and I felt bad for her. She’d never really seen him hurt before! After the nurse checked on him and did concur about the stitches, I took her back to the car. She read for 30 minutes, before I realized that our friends were at the restaurant across the street (they later told us they’d gone to the wrong location, and they were in fact at another restaurant about 1 mile away). She finished her reading, and they were not yet ready for Brandon, so we headed to Target to get pain meds. I wanted to get more snacks as well, so we killed some time in there. Dave gave me updates, and he was going to send me back to the hotel, but I didn’t want to drive around. Soon enough Brandon was getting stitches, though Dave thought B was going to pass out or vomit up his Tylenol. Verdict – 3 stitches. Funny, he thought he’d “win” the stitches battle, but Peyton retained her title with 6 in her chin. We went to go back and get them, and all in all, we were away almost 5 hours. We hadn’t eaten dinner, so we hit up Denny’s for breakfast for dinner. He was more calm now, and had gotten all bandaged up. Dave didn’t think it was a good idea for him to be with Brandon since he was unsympathetic, though I couldn’t have been much help with respect to the blood. Peyton made it easy for me back when she was injured; she cried until she fell asleep, and she was a trooper. They also took only 30 minutes it seemed, from start to finish as we were not in during a holiday time. The nurse told Brandon he picked THE WORST night to get hurt.

We all slept in on Wednesday, which meant a late start to the park. It was super busy, so we had low expectations. We went on one ride together, then Dave and Peyton headed to her favorite, the roller coaster. I didn’t think it was a good idea for Brandon to ride upside down with his fresh injury, so he stayed close to me. The park was really crowded by now, so after awhile, we decided to cut our losses. We went to a local food court area (the meat packing district of Anaheim). We had dinner and dessert, and Dave didn’t want to run the ragged. He told them to relax, stay at the hotel, and try again in the morning on Thursday. They did end up watching movies in the hotel room, and we did relax.

Thursday morning, we headed in early. The security line was ridiculous that early on, as we had driven in, after making the mistake to walk on Wednesday. We were also headed out to meet Dave’s high school friend, Mike, for lunch, so we wanted to be able to head out quickly and not have to return to the hotel to get the car. We were efficient for getting there in the morning. By now, Brandon was riding the roller coaster. He had pretty much returned to his old self, but I was more cautious having him stay on my right side so I could protect him on his left. We queued up fast passes, took a bunch of pictures, had a great time before leaving for lunch. We arrived first, then Mike, his wife, and baby Eunha arrived. We’d last seen the baby one year ago, when she was immobile. Now, she was more fun and interactive. Peyton and Brandon sat away from her, with Peyton diagonally seated furthest away from her. She loved Peyton! She passed her napkin, water and spoon to Peyton and only Peyton. When the other three of us tried to intercept an object and pas it to Peyton, she’d shake her head, and pull it back. When Peyton accept it, she’d clap her hands and smile! We had fun with her, and when lunch was done, we met up for ice cream. She had fun with Peyton and a set of keys, trying to get into the door. Surprisingly, the key fit into the lock, it just didn’t work. Yonhee was very impressed with how good the kids were with the baby. Both kids fell asleep on the ride back (this was Peyton’s second nap). That allowed us to stay in the park longer on Thursday night. We stayed until almost midnight, getting on rides because the crowds had thinned.

Friday morning, we went back to the meat district to get pastries for our next meet up. We were headed to Brodard for rolls and catching up with Teddy and Eunice. Brandon was in their wedding when he was just over 2 years old, his second wedding by that time. They brought Abby, 4, but left Brady, 1, at his grandparents’ house. We’d not met Brady yet, but they said he was a handful, and a bit under the weather. Peyton and Abby were sitting next to each other, but then later, Abby sat between her parents. We had a nice time catching up, and later, Abby came back to join Peyton, bringing her phone with her. They played games together for the rest of lunch, while Brandon continued to eat. After a couple of hours, we said our goodbyes and headed to the park. The kids were anxious to get in, as they had been with us all morning long. They are into riding rides on their own, namely the roller coaster and Goofy’s Sky School. We didn’t push it too long, as this was our last night in the lesser hotel, and in the morning, we were going to transfer to the Disneyland hotel!

On Saturday, we brought our bags over by 9 am, bag-checking to the hotel. We stayed out until dinner, before we returned to the hotel to enjoy our stay. We visited the tiki bar, and we all got drinks. The kids don’t usually get virgin drinks, but each had silly straws and carbonated fruity drinks. The kids took pictures with our beds, and Peyton found herself the separate bed. She remembers the one in Aulani, which was below the TV. Brandon as okay with it, as he got his own bed, too. The kids eventually went to sleep, and our plan was to wake up early for the Magic Morning for Sunday.

Magic morning is at 7 am, so we had alarms set for 630 am. We got out of the hotel in time to be let in to the park by 7 am, and headed for Radiator Racers. There was a malfunction on the ride, leading to missing audio. We seemed to have more problems this trip, as we had been stuck and escorted off Matterhorn earlier in the week. They issued fast passes for any time of the day later on. We planned to use it later in the evening. We got four rides in before the “regular” people were let in at 8 am. We did RSR, the Luigi ride that is never worth waiting for, twice, and then TSM. We played in the park, with midway games as well. Peyton won a medium prize at the fishing game, while BRandon won a small one, much to his dismay. He tried again, and they got the opposite prizes! He was happy once again. What was even funnier was that he fished for a fish that another man had had his eye on, but it slipped away from him downstream, which is where Brandon was. Brandon plucked that fish out of the water, to reveal the medium prize! The man had been fake-swatting at him with his fishing rod with his friends and me all laughing at the situation. He was a good sport, though I still felt bad for him. We went back to the hotel room, and Dave took Peyton to the water slides. Brandon couldn’t get his eye wet, so he hung out with me in the room. I slept while he watched tv. Dave and Peyton came back, and she took a nap, while Dave took Brandon shopping. They all went back to sleep until we had to go to our reservation. Peyton was so grumpy, and said she didn’t want to go, but I convinced her otherwise, since it was our last chance to see Ariel before the Grotto went away. She snapped out of it, and quickly came about. We got to the restaurant and she took her picture with Ariel and the rest of the princesses. She’s never too old for that! From there on out, we headed back and forth to ride more rides. We watched the Magical Map show to hang out some more, and then found a spot for the midnight countdown. We had a great spot in front of the lagoon, and had fireworks just as it hit midnight. Peyton proudly displayed her birthday pin, only having revealed it for the earlier front of the Monorail experience that we waited for, since the morning hadn’t been super busy. We set the alarm for early this morning, so we could get a start on our drive back. The kids slept 80% of the time, and the rest of the time they were groggy and quiet. We stopped once to get gas, and otherwise, it was smooth sailing for us. Good thing that Dave can drive especially on little sleep and with it being quiet. We met my parents for dim sum, and then they hung out with us this afternoon while I did loads of laundry. We’d gotten the birthday celebrants a cake, with Peyton asking for it to JUST say “happy birthday to Peyton” instead of “Papa and Peyton” because it was HER birthday, and not his. We got a visit from Hope, Grace and their parents, along with Cody, for a birthday present/Christmas present delivery. We chatted with them for awhile, then we went back to the football games that were on. Brandon came out long enough to show them his stitches. We’re ready mostly, to take on the new year. Both kids didn’t want to go back to school, wanting to call in a “sick” day, but they will bounce back. Videos and pictures to follow!
