I threw in a picture of the cousins as well.  Peyton loved the tea cups. It was thrilling enough, but not too scary.  The first time Jeff took the P’s, they didn’t have much of a choice of tea cup colors.  They ended up in the yellow one.  The little girls were trying to spin the cup, but Jeff had them laughing enough to distract them.  The next day, they went with Abby, who is smart enough to read the directions on the cup, and she was more determined to spin the cup.  Again, the P girls loved it, as did Abby, even though they did spin some more.  I think this may be her new favorite ride, only Dave and I don’t do as well with these kinds of rides.

We left for a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth after work on Monday.  We got in to Dave’s parents’ house by 1230 am, which wasn’t too bad.  We left at 6pm from the house, then stopped because we forgot Pull ups for Peyton (I was in charge of packing).  I guess I don’t think of her as having “diapers” any more, but forget we need at least one per night.  We stopped to get Dave food, then headed on our way.  The kids stayed awake for a few hours, then it was bedtime.  Peyton didn’t want a pull up put on her, so we let her stay in her underwear.  When we arrived, both kids woke up.  They were excited to have arrived, but we told them to go to sleep so we could get out early.  Dave’s parents were still up, but soon went to sleep as well.  It turns out they were going golfing the next morning, so we all got up around 630am, and we were out the door by 7am.  Not bad!  We did have to set our alarms to get up, but it was worth it to get an early start.  We wanted to hit the new ride, so Dave stood in line for fast passes while I took the kids on Mater’s Jamboree. We waited about 15 minutes, and Peyton kept wondering where Mater was, since she heard him but could not see him.   Brandon didn’t want to go on it, but since it was just me, I told him he had to stay with us.  I told him he could show me his grumpiest face while on the ride. He agreed, but as soon as we sat in the ride, he had a grin from ear to ear.  It was fun, and we met up with Dave.  Then, we met up with the Chao’s and Peyton and Cameron rode on small world together along with Rachel and me.  We later met up with the Kao’s and hung out for lunch.  Since I didn’t keep careful notes, I’m not clear of the details now.  I know we did have to split up since the bigger kids wanted to ride the rides the littler ones could not.  At one point, we met up with Kenny, who had returned from putting the kids down in the hotel with Rachel, and we were walking around Tomorrowland.  The storm troopers were by Star Tours entertaining the crowd, and Brandon was happily walking along until he saw them.  He quickly reached out for a hand and got close.  The closest adult he knew was Kenny, and he reached out for his hand to hold it.  I thought it was really sweet, and definitely funny.  Brandon got to ride Space Mountain, as he definitely conquered his fear of the dark coaster.  Dave went with him for his first time, then I took him.  He took to some peer pressure as Tim and Ted told him to put his hands in the air.  He started with his hands in the air, until after we started climbing up the track.  Then he put his hands down, and when they saw him, he was again goaded into putting his hands up, which he did for the rest of the ride!  Here’s his picture to prove it 🙂  

We had to get over to the other park to get on our ride before heading over to dinner for Dave’s dad’s birthday.  We said our goodbyes to the Kao’s and Cary, Aiden, and Sophie.  We went over to Radiator Springs, where Peyton was asked to stand up for a measurement 3 times.  She was a little gun shy to go on the ride, since we’d already taken her to Splash Mountain.  Here’s her picture from that:   along with the video that is priceless.  In fact, the other people around us viewing the videos laughed at “the little girl in the front of the boat!”  She was a very good sport about being all wet, and definitely had a death grip on Dave’s backpack that he’d placed in front of her.
She is willing to go on a ride at least once, then after learning what it’s all about, she declines (Splash, Matterhorn, Soaring, Radiator Racers).  She purposely bent at the knees so she wouldn’t keep bumping her head as the ride attendants kept shoving her head up against the pole to designated 40 inches.  With some convincing, she stood up tall, and we went on the ride.  We waited about 15 minutes in the fast pass line.  Since the ride is three in the front, and three in the back, Dave and Brandon sat in front, while Peyton and I sat in the back.  Two single riders, who were friends, sat next to us.  They were freaking out in Spanish, and the one sitting by us kept cursing out the one in front of her.  Our sound track is “Ai-yai-yai”.  We torture poor little Peyton, but she recovers quickly.  We headed out to meet up with the rest of Dave’s family to celebrate with dinner.

The next day, we hung out with Abby, Penelope, Meg and Jeff.  We started out later, but after the day before, it was nice not to rush.  It was July 4th at this point, and we were trying to make reservations for the BBQ, but they were full, so we booked the StoryTeller’s Cafe for dinner.  Peyton’s favorite rides are the “Bumpy Cars” (Autopia), Buzz, Small world, and Ariel.  She also asked to go on “Mater’s Gymboree”, though I knew she meant Jamboree.  It was more crowded today, so we didn’t get the chance.  Today, we got her on Soaring. On Thursday, we met up with another family, the Tom’s. This brought our total to 3 older kids and 3 younger kids, all within 7 months of each other.  Kristie was just a few days younger than Abby, and Jason is 2 months younger than Peyton.  It’s amazing how they all got along together, and how we were able to coordinate the rides to keep everyone happy!  We had dinner at the BBQ ranch, and all the kids got their fill of food.  We parted ways from the Tom’s and headed back to the house again for the night.

On Friday, it was our last day and again, we headed out in the morning.  We met up with the Tom’s while we were eating lunch.  We took it easy today, since again, the crowds were really coming in.  Each kid was to pick two rides that they wanted to go on.  Brandon and Abby picked Space and Thunder mountains, independent of one another!  Peyton picked “Alice and The Wonderland” and “Small World.”  We ended up going on Alice and Wonderland, and Tea Cups, which she was happy with, and later Small World, since that was what Penelope wanted to ride.  Really, they have the same interests, which works out, since they all were happy with the others’ choices.  It was time for a nap for the younger ones, since the day before, Peyton had not napped the entire day.  We started walking and the three fell asleep within 5 minutes of each other.  The moms hung out for 2 hours, chatting, while the boys, Abby and Kristie did “big kid” rides.  We ate dinner at the pier, and did our last round of rides for our trip.  Peyton did two rounds of Ariel, which she enjoyed.  I kept losing track of the rides Brandon was going on, but he did ride Screaming and Goofy’s sky school this trip.  I was a little worried about him after Screaming since he was complaining about his neck hurting.  It didn’t stop him from wanting to ride it again,but I thought it was best for him not to risk it again.  Oh, and the warning about keeping an eye on your hat was lost on Dave, as he lost his hat on Splash after two warnings.  He did get some excellent footage of Peyton 🙂

Friday night, we spent the night at the Shih’s.  All 4 kids were asleep while we brought our luggage inside the house.  I put Peyton in the pack and play, then we went upstairs to have dessert while the kids slept.  When it was time for us to go to bed, I showered before going to sleep. I must have woken up Peyton, who sat up in the pack and play, and I swear I heard her say, “What the?” and lifted her arms up to be carried out.  I got her out, and we all went to sleep.  We got up and had breakfast, then headed out to the UCLA campus.  It’s part of our ongoing recruiting trips.  We went to lunch at Huckleberry, and then met up with Mike for a brief visit.  We picked up some desserts to take over to Dave’s family’s house, as we were celebrating the 50th anniversary of his aunt and uncle.  There were about 25 people there, with about 10 little ones.  There was quite a spread!  We were planning to leave at 6pm, but since no one started eating until that time, we resigned to the fact that we could leave later.  We didn’t know how much “later” would be – whether it’d be in the morning or later in the evening. The kids definitely do better at night as it’s cooler, and they are usually asleep.  We were also hoping to avoid traffic, and then have a day to wind down and clean up the house before going to school the next day.  Brandon was playing nicely with his cousins, as was Peyton, who despite not having a nap that day, was hanging in there.  Brandon was exposed to real video games; not just the Kinect that we have at home.  He preferred the ipad though to the actual games. He was actually the reason why we ended up staying, as he had some good influences there, and he was behaving himself.  We told him that, and he continued to behave.  We headed out by 9pm after brushing their teeth, getting gas, and starting the trek home.
