Thursday/Friday

Yesterday, I took Brandon to practice, while Peyton was with Dave at hers. Brandon wanted me to stay, and I asked if it was because he wanted me to watch him, and he honestly just told me he didn’t want to be left behind. He didn’t want me to not come back for him. I was able to see him in the batting cages, crushing balls thrown by the coach to him. The coach was super excited, and he came up after and gave him a big high five. I was texting Dave that he was doing well, too, and Brandon said he only missed one ball, and he said it was a bad pitch by coach. Otherwise, he was connecting with the balls, making the crack of the bat sound. He didn’t touch a real ball but was playing around with the wiffle balls. I was a bit disappointed in him about that. Also, some other lefty grabbed his catcher’s gear from his bag, and then he didn’t put it back. I told Brandon to make sure if the guy uses his stuff, he should put it back where he found it. The guy put it on the ground ๐Ÿ™ Brandon just meekly asked the guy if he was done, and then Brandon, himself, put it back in his bag. The kid took it out again, and this time, he left it in the field. Brandon grabbed it again, and he put it back on his own. Momma doesn’t want to raise a pushover! I know Peyton would have told the kid off. I’ve seen her do it with her own peers, and she probably would have had it been her situation. Then, the coach issued a challenge to the kids. Each kid was given five balls to throw at a bucket placed by the pitcher’s mound. The kids had to stand back behind the grass, in front of home plate. If the kids got more balls in than parents, then the coaches had to run. The three coaches all got 5 balls each to do the same. If they won, then the kids would have to take a lap around the bases. The kids started trying their best with their 5 balls. Brandon was in the middle of the pack, but the first kid to make it was that small lefty kid. Then, another kid, who plays football, sunk two in the bucket. Then, it was Brandon’s turn.
I decided to film it, since what else am I going to do waiting around ๐Ÿ™‚

We headed home and did the rest of homework from earlier in the day. He’s working on a project that he needs to turn into his google drive folder from the teacher. He is an “architect” and he is making a flier for his Native American project. He was told it was okay to copy/paste (and I confirmed with the teacher). It’s looking pretty nice, except for the Dodgers graphics he’s adding, per his teacher’s approval for graphics. Not sure how she will feel about the Dodgers-specific information.

Today, I went to work super early, my 6 am shift. I had a dental appointment that needed to be attended, since it was already a reschedule the last time it came up for work. I left by 9 am and came back by 11 am. My mom helped me pick up the kids and then brought them to me for their flu mists. My mom told me a lady came with her younger daughter to pick up her daughter in front of Brandon’s teacher’s room. She introduced herself as a friend of mine, and asked if she could take Peyton to a different part of the campus to see someone else. Peyton went, but later, to me, she questioned, “She didn’t give me the secret word!” But Peyton went with her anyway. Turns out, it was H and G’s mom, and my mom had met her at Peyton’s birthday party. She had come with H, but my mom said she didn’t remember. I told my mom, “That’s G’s mom!” My mom gave me “the look” as she didn’t want Brandon to know that we talk about them. Anyway, she went on to say that the bell rang and Peyton wasn’t back yet. Brandon came up to her, and said, “Where’s Peyton?” And when my mom said she’d be right back, Brandon said, “Okay, let’s go!” (Nice big brother he is!) So, they waited, and Peyton came back with T and H. I don’t know what G was doing with Brandon by this time. My mom came to my work, found me, we got the shots for the kids, and then we headed to the library to get their new books for the book of the month club. We headed home after that, and then my mom and Brandon left. There is an extra ticket with his name on it to the CAL game, and he’s going. Peyton looked a bit sad for just a little bit, but she got over it. She’d already practiced piano with my mom, and I’d practiced both piano and clarinet with Brandon before he left. Peyton and I ate dinner alone, as Dave was still at work coming back late. After he ate, we headed to froyo for another free yogurt for me from my birthday. I’ve been wanting pumpkin pie, and Peyton had blood orange and pear. Both were fresh, fruity and yummy. We got home, and I asked her if she wanted to practice piano again instead of doing it tomorrow morning. I wanted to see what exactly she did with my mom. She was okay on some songs, but I continued to work with her. The deal was if she didn’t cry she could sleep with us. Well, we don’t have to worry about a roommate tonight ๐Ÿ™‚ She tried to keep it together. But it was late. And she was tired. She’d also pulled out another dangly tooth today. Those things don’t stand a chance when she’s got something to do with it. So, she’s full of holes, but the tooth fairy won’t be coming tonight. Peyton will have to write an apology note to the tooth fairy for her behavior at tonight’s piano. She’ll have to try again tomorrow. We’re hoping to go for a bike ride tomorrow morning, which was why I was motivated to get piano over with tonight and not have to do it tomorrow morning.

Keyboard

Brandon had to do a project for school. He said he was allowed for this project to cut and paste information learned from native Americans online.  He was using pictures and captions.  I was teaching him keyboard functions like CTRL+C and V, CTRL+F and the all most important CTRL+Z. I told him he’d need that one. A LOT.  He got the hang of it.
