Routine

This morning Peyton’s bladder woke her up at 610am. She got up, told us she had to go potty, and I asked her to do it by herself. She took care of business, then I asked her to go back to her room until the alarm goes on (I told her we’d wash her hands after we got up). Much less drama today than the other day. She went quietly, and stayed there for about 10 minutes. She still had about 10 minutes to go until the alarm, but she came back and told us she wanted to get dressed. Not denying that, I told her to take her clothes (I put them out in our room) and put them on in her room. She didn’t leave, but quietly put the clothes on. After 5 more minutes, she asked for help with her shirt. I told her that it wasn’t time for me to help her, since the alarm hadn’t turned on. And since she was out of her room, she was not going to earn back all her things. I awarded her with Daddy’s blanket and Violet for listening the first time and going back to her room, but she didn’t get everything back (her baby and dog) because she didn’t stay in her room. I told her she could try again tomorrow. Meanwhile, I could hear Brandon moving around by then. He had “earned” 40 sentences last night, and Dave told him to get started as soon as he got up. When Dave went to check, Brandon was at his desk, starting to write! Dave gave him a 10 sentence pardon for good behavior! He did the other 30 before and during breakfast. I’ll take him to my dentist appointment, and then to the mall up by the dentist. We have to shop for Nolan’s birthday party this weekend. Brandon is very excited to be going to Laserquest!

10 toes; A New Friend

Peyton woke up today with ANOTHER dry diaper! YAY! She got her final toe polished! Since all 10 are painted now, I have to keep the streak alive, and I’ve told her I’d go back and touch up the smudged ones. She isn’t patient enough to let them totally dry, and will smudge them with her fingers, so they aren’t pretty, but more or less, there is paint on them. I’m still scared to have her go cold turkey. And the girl in her will not re-use the old/clean diapers. She needs a new one each night. We still have a pack and a half remaining, so maybe we’ll use the rest of what we have, and then go without.
Peyton was telling me, “And we have a new friend in Paradise.” I asked her her name. She said, “Her name is Neha. She’s so nice!!” It made me smile when she said it like that. I asked Peyton if she was nice to Neha, and she said she was. This morning, I dropped Peyton off at about 730am, and another little girl was there with her mom. She was the only one there, and Peyton chose the seat right next to her (almost on top of her!) to eat breakfast. The mom left, and I told the teacher how much Peyton was talking about Neha. When I left, I ran into the mom in the hallway. She sounded like she was natively Japanese, but I also told her of how much Peyton enjoyed meeting Neha. She was relieved, she she re-located, and the girl didn’t know anyone. She was afraid she’d be the only kid in the morning, but I told her Peyton’s an early bird, too, often one of a few kids there that early in the morning. The mom works 4-10’s, so Neha will be there early in the morning to late in the afternoon. Her day off is Wednesday. I think they will be great friends!

Yesterday, since we beat Brandon and Dave home, I let Peyton watch Aladdin since she kept her underwear dry. Aladdin was her request. Early wake up

Dave had to leave early for work, so he slept downstairs so as not to wake anyone up. He left around 6am, and I had no clue. Peyton woke up at 615am and tried to climb up to the bed. I asked her if her alarm had gone on, and she said no. So, I told her to go back. She whined, then told me she needed to go potty. I told her to go, then go back to her room. Still more resistance. By now, she was full on crying, and I was frustrated because she was going to, or already had, awaken Brandon. He needs his sleep, and generally he goes to sleep before she does, and will stay asleep after her. I stormed into her room, and started taking toys away left and right. I was so upset, and so was she. She finally went down in her room, and I went to snuggle with Brandon, who was slightly annoyed by being woken up. I enjoy the moment(s) he is calm. It lasted about 5 minutes, then he, too, told me he had to go potty. So, we all got ready, and because Peyton kept her diaper dry again, she got another toe nail. She has 9 total now. She wanted to change her clothes, and did so without help. We all headed downstairs for breakfast, and there was not much incident after that. After we dropped Brandon off, Peyton wanted to talk more about the Dland rides. She said, “Okay, let’s talk about the rides. She has no “least favorite” parts of Small World. Later, she started getting into spelling. She can spell “Pooh” since it is on our milk cup at home. She wanted to learn how to spell Mickey and Minnie by the time we got to school. I dropped her off with no problem, then headed to work.
Flash forward to tonight. Jos called on her way home from work, so we chatted while the kids got their baths. When I was done, they were ready for bed. I asked Peyton why she had Daddy’s blanket, Violet, and some of her other favorites gone. She said, “Because I get up too early.” She thought she could just find them in our room. I’d hid them this morning so she couldn’t get them on her own. She looked for them, then gave up to go back to her bed. I told her if she stayed in her room until her radio goes on, then she can earn her stuff back. But if she didn’t go back to her room, more stuff would disappear. She knew I meant it, and quickly climbed into bed. We’ll see how many things she can earn back. I told her if she needed to go potty, she could, then go back to her room. And if she wanted to get dressed, she could, but she was not to make noise. I hope she agrees tomorrow as quickly as she agreed tonight.
