Today, I got into work early, and got to leave early to get us ready for soccer. I picked Peyton up, then we headed to eat dinner. Last week, I had food from work, but this week, we went to the Korean marketplace. We picked out a dish to share, then waited with our buzzer. Peyton was so excited because she didn’t have to share with Brandon. She got to watch the buzzer and waited for it to go off. She ate her chicken, salad, and noodles. After she was done with all that, she ate her orange. Again, she was excited and said, “I get to eat the whole thing?” Here was my dinner date tonight:

While she was eating, she said, “After we play in the playground, then we can have mochi (pointing to the dessert bar)?” I smiled and told her nice try. It was almost too hard to not give in to her expectant look. Almost.
We headed to soccer, and still had time to spare. She put her shin guards on by herself, then we headed to the park. We only had 5 minutes, not the usual 15-20 as in previous weeks, but it was enough. I gave her a one minute warning, and she followed when time was up. She was trying to run there, but I told her to slow down and save her energy. To get her motivated to do soccer, I told her we’d go to the park for 5 minutes after practice if she followed the coach. This definitely helped her, but there were times where she was unmotivated. So I ended up only giving her 4 minutes, but she made the most of it. She got there, and this girl said, “Hi, Peyton.” Peyton said, “Hi Misha.” The girls chatted for a bit, while I tried to tell the grandmother that the girls go to the same school. I’m not sure if she was disinterested, didn’t hear me, or didn’t understand me. She was speaking English to Misha, and she nodded her head to me, but she didn’t talk back other than to ask when Peyton was born. I gave Peyton a countdown, and she stretched it to the limit of 4+ minutes. Then, it was time to go, and she told Misha, “Bye, I have to go now.” We headed home, and she told me Misha was still playing at the park and wasn’t going home. We got in the door, and Dave had accomplished his mission of getting Brandon fed and homework done. Success! We tag teamed out, and he headed to his school science meeting, with notebook in hand, while I bathed Peyton and got the kids ready for bed. We had some time, and I needed to get Peyton’s reading in, but I also had to pack for the weekend, so in came Brandon to save the day. He picked up the book and was happy to help. He started by telling Peyton, “Please save your questions until the end. Thank you.” Then proceeded to read to her. I got about 10 minutes in, then Peyton wandered in with the book in hand. Brandon was chasing after her, telling me that she didn’t want to read anymore. That was my cue to have them go their separate ways. It was about 715pm, so I quickly read another 5 minutes for Peyton, then headed to Brandon’s room to make sure he was finishing up his vocabulary sentence re-write. He actually elaborated more on the sentences the second writing and definitely made his handwriting neater. While she was supposed to be in her room, Peyton came out into Brandon’s room teary-eyed. She said, “My fluoride is up my nose.” Brandon started laughing and said, “What, you think that you can put it in your nose, because you know that your nose and your mouth are connected?! Haha…that’s funny!” She started to whine some more, so I asked her what side she put it in (I know she put it in there, it didn’t just “fall” into her nostril). She immediately said, “This one,” and pointed to her right side. I asked her to come toward me, and I plugged up her left side. I instructed her to blow, which she did, and out flew the tablet. She grabbed it immediately, and put it in her mouth. Waste not, want not. Gross. I know. By 730pm, lights were out. It’s 752pm, and Peyton’s already come to tell me she lost her fluoride again somewhere in her bed. Oh well, that fluoride tablet has definitely seen better days.  I’m dressed and ready to run 5 miles when Dave gets back.  Hope it’s no later than 9pm, or I’ll be hurtin’ for certain.

Grandma’s house

Today, I asked Brandon if he wanted to stay overnight at “Grandma’s house” over the weekend. We have a lot of stuff up north this weekend, and we may just stay over and I was seeing what his thoughts on that were. He said, “Wait a minute, whose Grandma?” I told him, “My grandma.” Then I corrected, “My mom.” As opposed to my actual grandma or Dave’s mom. Then, he said, “Oh, I thought you meant staying at YOUR grandma’s. Cuz I wanna do that.” I asked him why, and he said, “Because it’s cooler. Because she lives next to the ocean.” He is right. I did tell him that Grandma’s house was cooler than our house, but not as cool as my grandma’s house. We have the AC going in the house, so I’m not sure what he is complaining about. He doesn’t like the heat either. Me, I don’t like being cold.

End of Class

Today marked the last in my series of 3 classes.  When I told Peyton I was leaving, she said, “To go learn?!”  Interesting parent information that will apply to any kid, and how to parent with “love” and not trying to bring negative emotion into things.  It does take a lot of patience, as I’ve been trying this past week.  I think I actually get less mad when I’m detached, and even worked a jedi mind trick on Brandon right before class.  He was upset about something, and I told him, “When you talk calmly to me, I will answer.”  He stopped yelling immediately because I stopped responding to him. It was comical.  Then, he turned sweet, and starting engaging me in If left untreated or the treatment is not timely, it will lead to the occurrence of breaking out viagra 100 mg repeatedly. Share Day

Today was share day for the letter “A” and Peyton chose Ariel. I wanted to have her practice her presentation in the car. She started by saying, “This is Ariel. She sings two songs. Here is the re-recreation when we got home. Still not better than the first performance!

Spelling

Yesterday, Brandon was in his room doing some sentences for his vocabulary words, while Peyton and I were in her room reading. He was asking me how to spell some words, when he asked, “How do I spell ‘look’?” Peyton said, “L-O-O-K,” then looked up at me. I smiled, and nodded. Camping Hangover

This morning was a bit rough, even though I went to sleep about an hour earlier than normal. Both kids were already up and playing/reading. They got ready quickly, and without problems, and we headed out. It was really warm today, and we only took a short walk. I picked Peyton up at the end of the day, and I reviewed her pictures. They managed to get her dimples out with a minimal smile. We’ll be getting them later this week. We went home, and Dave and Brandon were already there. Dave was making some fried rice, while Brandon was reading his homework online. Peyton had homework, so she started on that, too, while I was going between the two of them supervising them. Dave left after dinner to go to the pool to get Peyton’s report, since Rob hadn’t finished them up by Saturday. He told Dave he did remember Peyton from parent/tot last year, and if she keeps progressing and learns her big arms and kicking as she has, she will be a dolphin, which is what Brandon is now. He didn’t think she’d be physically as strong as them, or be able to handle the distance that they do, but she just needs to practice her backstroke arms more. While Dave was gone, I got Peyton bathed and reading, while Brandon was writing vocabulary sentences. Then, Peyton and I read Flat Stanley, while Brandon bathed. He came over to join us, and took over my role of filling in the words that Peyton didn’t know. He was really good and let her read the words she knows, and was following along carefully to not miss a beat to pronounce the words she couldn’t. I asked them if they could keep going, while I headed to get my phone to film them. They both agreed for me to film them and mostly continued as they had been. I just loved the look Peyton would give Brandon when she was stuck, and I was proud of Brandon for being able to fill in where she couldn’t read. Since it was a Mexican adventure, both kids had problems pronouncing the Spanish words, but I filled in when I could. Here are some videos:

Dave came home and tag-teamed me out so I could go run. Finished 5 miles in just over 53 minutes, which I’d be happy about if I could keep it up the whole race. I came home, showered up, then Dave reminded me of my homework that Brandon brought home from his teacher. There some pasting and collating involved, and I did it while watching our DVR shows. Dave still didn’t help me out, assembly-line style, since I was the one who volunteered for the project. I finished, and am now pooped! I’m still tired from the weekend, hopefully I will catch up soon, since we have a busy week and weekend ahead.
