I didn’t blog while out, since it’s pretty hard to do so on the ipad or phone. Plus, I had all these pictures to upload 🙂
We hung around and went to a sushi place for Father’s day, with just the four of us. Dave missed out on dinner since he wasn’t around. In the morning, Peyton and I set out to pick up the other half of our family. I wanted to take Peyton so she had time for a nap. And as soon as we got on the freeway, nap she did. Full on drool. She stayed asleep even after I picked the boys up. She woke up on our first of several shave ice stops. She looked a bit confused, but she quickly understood what was going on when she fully came to. We went to a place that Joyce had suggested but we wanted to eat lunch first. We found a mix plate place to eat first, then headed over. Dave likes taking pictures of us from the street view.
Here was stop #1: very fine ice, good selection of flavors:

We headed back to our hotel to meet up with Kyle. They were staying at the resort right by us, so it was perfect. They let us into their place, and the boys enjoyed the water slide (too thrilling for Peyton, so she watched with me) and all enjoyed the lazy river. After that, we had some story telling from Uncle Aito and the menehune, and then we left to get cleaned up for dinner.

Here are some pictures from dinner.
We were right out on the balcony, and Peyton preferred to listen to the musicians than join us for dinner. Later, she did play with the boys and their toys.
We quickly finished dinner so we could enjoy the luau at the hotel. Here are some photos from that. Kyle was pretty sleepy, as was Brandon. He declared after the show was done, “I want to go home to sleep.” This kid, really? Peyton wanted to take pictures with the characters, so we stuck Brandon in the stroller, while I went around to take pictures with Peyton. Here are some (we woke Brandon up for the mouse!):

We walked home, and the kids went right to bed.
The next day, we were going to make use of our car. But first, we had to stop down at the beach. We ended up doing this every morning since the kids got up so early (around 7am, their usual time; definitely could have been worse!). We drove to the North Shore, and did the pineapple plantation along with the “famous” shave ice. We definitely didn’t think it was better than day 1. It was raining a bit, so that slowed us down, but not our picture-taking efforts:

We all shared one, since we wanted to get more snacks later on. We stopped for lunch, then got another snack.
Another store front photo:

We headed home for a nap. We hung out at the resort, and we went to another mixed plate place that my parents had checked out the night before. Brandon and my parents walked while Peyton, Dave and I drove.
The next day, we headed to the lagoon and pool. We stayed there quite a long time! Brandon had fun with the water slide, while Peyton had fun doing her head bobs and trying to swim. She can dunk herself in the water, push off the side, and kick toward us. She can get at least 2-3 body lengths from where she started. We hung out poolside, then we all came back while the kids took their naps. Dave and I snuck out for some groceries – poke and some clothes! We were planning for my cousins to come over for a BBQ; well, we were told to get chips and drinks, while my cousins were bringing the meat and everything else. After we got home, Dave took Brandon to golf! The clubs were free, and the bucket of balls was $5. Great deal! Brandon had to hit all the balls, since the clubs were lefty, and short for Dave. When Brandon was coming home, he asked Dave, “I can do this at home, right?” Peyton and I checked out the craft faire in the hotel lobby, and went to try to hotel shave ice. Dave came home and asked her, “Did you have something while we were gone?” Peyton didn’t want to tell him, telling him she forgot, and finally, he prompted her asking her, “Was it something cold?” She finally whispered, “Shave ice.” Dave, my mom, Peyton and I went out to go get dinner, and went to get different things. I wanted a salad, and the rest got Mexican food. Peyton melted down when I got mad at her that her spoon was clean, when she felt it wasn’t. She just burst into tears! Dave had also told Brandon that he could sleep on the bed (they’d been switching off). We couldn’t figure it out at first, but when she calmed down, and I started asking her questions, she nodded at my offense. Brandon was falling asleep while eating, so we told him he didn’t have to finish. He didn’t complain at all. It was 730pm. Peyton went to sleep an hour later again without any complaint. We’ve just worn these kids out!
The final full day started out at the water, as it had the first four. We all headed to the water after a thorough lubing up. We stayed close as my cousins were headed over to drop off food. We thought they were going surfing, but it turns out they were going to stay with us until dinner. We had swordfish steaks, hamburgers with all the trimmings, and our chips, watermelon, and drinks that we’d gotten. My uncle used to work as a chef in a hotel, so Dave didn’t want to touch the cooking aspect with a 10 – foot pole. Everything was yummy, and we even put the kids to bed before the cousins left. Peyton stayed up until 11pm! She waited until they all left; she didn’t want to come hang out with them even after I’d invited her to. Brandon had fallen asleep long before that, but she was content to hang out in the room alone. This helped later on…
We got up early to go into town before boarding our flight. We went to the grocery store we’d found on our last trip. We bought some spicy ahi rolls, bento boxes, and another bowl of poke. We enjoyed it on our flight, as it was too early to eat them when we first bought them. I don’t think the people on our flight appreciated it, but as Dave said, “Who cares?” Haha…we only get this stuff not too often, so live it up! Peyton fell asleep before the plane even took off, and she slept for over 3 hours! The late night partying the night before got to her. She slept longer because I was able to lift the arm rest and have her lean against me. I had drool all over my hand, but at least she slept. Brandon was doing workbook pages next to me, and then watched Lion King. Peyton woke up right as it was finished, but she doesn’t have the attention span to watch a full movie. Go figure. Brandon was completely entertained the entire time the movie was on. He didn’t sleep at all! We got home at 9pm, only to have not eaten dinner, so we found a place to eat quickly. We got the kids into bed by 11pm, after a bath. We will have to adjust them to PST soon, before school starts again! I had to set my alarm this morning to get us all up for swim lessons. More on that in a bit.
