This morning was Brandon’s friend party. He had invited 9 friends from school and seven had responded yes. After that, we headed to our party room for lunch. We washed up and offered the boys sandwiches and chips. We were able to stay for about 30 minutes, then we had to go to event #3 of the morning, Peyton’s friend’s birthday party. Luckily, all of our events were within 3 miles of one another. Peyton changed in the car, and we headed to the cooking place! The kids were going to make lasagne in honor of the birthday girl. This was a trial run for the place, since they had never done it before, according to Orion’s mom. Peyton was one of the first few guests to arrive, and she said hi to Orion and gave her her present. After they were all done with decorating, they still had 8 minutes left to go for baking. The girls were told to wait for the lasagne first, then eat the cupcakes. We thanked our guests and took home a favor for Brandon, too. We got home in two minutes, and it was nap time for both of us. Luckily, Brandon and Dave were heading out, since they had errands to run for his friend party tomorrow. Peyton woke up after about an hour, and came down to cuddle. Brandon and Dave returned by this time, and we practiced piano before heading down to event #4. We arrived just as the Chang’s had, and Bonnie was already there. They returned after awhile, and she told me she got hit with the ball on the chin. She said it hurt her ear to chew. I asked her if she cried, and she said she did. Poor baby. Dave told me that Brandon got hit recently in the chest and popped up to his chin and cried. I’m glad I don’t have to see it. It would make me cringe for sure, since both don’t tend to cry in public for something like that unless they are really hurt. Brandon more than Peyton. Luckily, she recovered and continued to play with Dave. She came back for fruit, and playing with the kids. Finally, cake was being served. Brandon was handed a huge piece, and since he’d already had a donut earlier in the day. He dutifully scraped off the frosting, then I caught him dipping his fork in the frosting and reaching up to his mouth. I was still watching and asked him what he was doing. He motioned back to continue to scrape his fork. I told him to share half with his sister. He ate the upper half of the cake, then some of the second part before handing it over to his sister. I didn’t think he ‘heard’ me to share with her. And she didn’t complain either, and ate her strawberries and portion of the remaining cake. She’d had dessert already, too, so she was done after that. She threw her plate away and headed back to play. At this point, things were a little bit more frenetic since they were all sugared up. We let them stay a little longer, and we all headed out about the same time. It was easier to leave with someone else, since the kids didn’t feel like they were missing out on anything. We said a happy birthday again to T, and we were given more treats on the way out. Peyton showered up, even more so because she was rolling around on grass, and they were both in bed by 8 pm.
