Second Day

The kids thought today was just as fun. I picked them up a bit earlier, since I was off earlier, but they didn’t seem to want to leave. I was cleaning up their stuff, and I saw Peyton had her Spanish vocab sheet nicely packed in her sheet protector with her class map and class card. I asked Brandon where his was. He said he didn’t know, but he thought it was in his lunch bag. He turned out to be right, but it was crumpled up. While I was playing piano with Peyton, Brandon was practicing his phrases. I asked him where his vocab sheet was. He looked at me before answering, then said he left it in class because he was told to keep it there. I asked him why Peyton had her sheet. He said, “Because Peyton finished, so she could take it home.” Brandon often teases Peyton because she’s not “as smart” as him, being three years younger than him. So I asked him why she finished and he didn’t. He said, “Because she had Spanish in preschool.” I reminded him that he took the same class. He retorted that it was much longer ago. I offered maybe it was because she was smarter than him. Haha…egging him on. Peyton was telling me how she liked Self Defense. She has that first period with G and H. She showed me how she is supposed to stand to protect herself, not crossing her arms to get them tangled, but to still wrap them around her torso in case she is punched. She also showed me a solid stance to not get easily knocked over. She also learned to use an assertive voice, no more whining. “STOP” She also reported that they were given the license to say “S-T-U-P-I-D,” if someone was bothering them.

Brandon has Sports Variety, Swimming, Spanish, and Lego Robotics. He said he completed his machine today.
Peyton has Self Defense for kids, Swimming, Spanish and origami. I haven’t asked Brandon about sports variety just yet. But he did tell me he’s making more friends, and he didn’t talk to his friend today in Spanish as he was late getting in from swimming. They all eat snack together after swimming, as they have a little break between the periods. Peyton has a softball teammate who I saw at pick up today. She came up to Peyton to say bye, and then asked if she would come tomorrow. Poor K doesn’t know anyone in the program. So she eats with Peyton, which I’m happy that Peyton has someone to eat with, since the three sisters go home after the sessions are over. Peyton has other kids she knows from school, but no one super close to her, so it’s nice she has K, and they can keep themselves company. They look forward to seeing each other again tomorrow. Brandon has baseball practice, and Peyton has a little bit of a break.

New Camp

I had signed the kids up at our middle school since we knew the Yins were going. I coordinated with H and Peyton, and Brandon was going to be on his own with whatever classes he wanted. Yesterday was their first day and I was a bit worried because they had swimming. It’s just another layer of gear to bring in addition to their lunches and snack.  I had gotten the text that they were all doing well yesterday.  Dave picked them up and, Peyton was playing downstairs while Brandon was upstairs changing his clothes for baseball.  I got in the door and asked her how it was.  She exclaimed, “It was fun!”  Brandon chimed in from upstairs, “Yeah, Mommy, it was fun!”  I asked Peyton if she preferred cdc or the current camp. She said, “Both!”  I asked her how swimming was and she said she had fun.  F helped her and I reminded her not to show her bottom to anyone. That’s what they do!”  I guess she’s not as shy as I was growing up.  I reviewed the classes they both had to see who was in what. Brandon had a classmate in Spanish with him.  Per Peyton, they were chatting and whispering during class. I asked her if she talked to H during swim. She said, “No we’re not supposed to!” I asked if she talked to her during free time and she said, “Of course!”  So glad they have a fun time. We’ll (T and I) be going to check it out on Friday as we coordinated while we headed to the gym. I’d tried out a new class.

Tournament weekend and Father’s Day

This tournament started on Friday night. I picked Peyton early from CDC during lunch. She had piano so I left Brandon there. He was happily eating lunch next to G who was sitting between either Tsao kid. I brought Peyton to visit classrooms at the middle school where this week’s camp would be. Brandon didn’t want to go to that part.  G assured me she’d help Peyton find where she needed to go. After going back home a bit after piano, we finally went to get Brandon and waited for dave to get home. He’d taken the train.  The game was freezing and the girls didn’t do well.
They stayed up late as we went to dinner after. Then the next morning was a bit later at 1130. But we still had to get there before 1030. Piano was practiced unwillingly but softball motivated her.  This game was a bit rough as we were playing the tournament hosts.  And the weather was totally different – hot! At some point, bases were loaded. I turned to the dad next to me and said “oh boy” then Peyton walked up. I gave him a nervous look and said it just got worse because it’s  my kid up. She didn’t look nervous and swung away.  She connected with one and it was a fielders choice.  The out was made at home. But she connected so I’m happy about that.

We went to eat at home and then headed down for naps.  We set an alarm just in case. Both kids needed to be woken up. We got her dressed again the headed down. This time, we did get the best of the team we played.  I rushed home and changed into my 80’s costume. The kids didn’t like it. Brandon told me he likes the way I normally dress.  We were saying goodbye to one of the moms at school.  It was super fun being in a social environment without kids.  We ended up at a dive bar signing karaoke to 80s and beyond hits. I stayed out until 1 when a small group of us took uber back. Who knew our town was serviced by uber!  I got home and must have woken Peyton up.  She went potty and asked me, “Are you just now getting back from your party?”  I told her yes. And she said, “Whaaa?!?”   I ended up with less than five hours of sleep since our alarm was set at 6.  Game was 8 am but they had to arrive an hour before.  We had to make a coffee stop beforehand.  HAD to.  We arrived on time and the game started as it was supposed to. Brandon hung in the whole weekend with the little brothers.  The game went up and down and the good news was that Peyton got up again with runners on second and third. We had two runs for the inning thus far. Peyton hit a ball up the middle allowing the two runs to score for a title of four, the max allowed per inning. Her base was questionable as the first baseman fell over when Peyton reached base. Bad news is that the team came back to win.  Ugh. We stayed around for the 10 u team to watch them.  The big girls were leaving after the game, and saw a few of peytons teammates watching the game and said, “Good bye mini shockwave”.

We then went to get lunch and groceries as we were headed to the Yin’s for dinner. Both kids were super excited. Both did go to sleep when told to after showering up.  Peyton woke up to more piano practice before we headed over. We all changed into our Warriors shirts and headed over. The kids had a great time. The older two read books during the game much to G’s dad dismay while the little ones put puzzles together.  Soon H brought out a 500 piece puzzle and we started working on that. Dinner was choose by my kids when they were asked so we got ribs and tri tip! Mom made beans while Dave briught salad and beer. We had apps too.  The dad had to cut up all the ribs for the kids. I think they didn’t want it to their teeth!  We stayed until the end of the game.  Mom had to leave to get F at the airport. She was coming home from a week and a half in Hawaii.  H left with her. When it was time to go, the kids didn’t want to leave. We told them they could walk home but they decided to come with us instead.  We had to get ready for our big week at camp.

I got a text this AM from G’s mom that F was helping P and H at the pool and changing.  She was keeping her mom updated, and I got relayed information.  Glad they are doing well.  All four kids were sad they were going to CDC but hopefully they are all having fun now.

Last Weekend Day

This morning, I took Brandon out on the field to work on speed drills. He’s the slowest kid on his team, and there really isn’t a reason for it. He’s slim, and lanky, so he should be fairly quick. Other kids play soccer, and I think that gives them quick feet. So, I started timing him and having him run from home to first. After a few tries, I let him rest and gave him the phone to time me. He didn’t like that, so he got back out there for a few more tries. Then, he went all the way around to try to beat 16 seconds. That’s the benchmark his coach had given him. He was in cleats and baseball pants, with his helmet, trying to simulate practice and real life events. I was in running shoes, and I was concentrating on not eating or sliding in dirt while running but I still got him! He told me it was going to be awhile before he was faster than me. After about 30 minutes or so, we called it a day. I had written his times down against mine for reference and to see if he could improve. We changed and headed out for breakfast. I’d taken Peyton to ST in the past for breakfast, so I figure it was his turn. He out-ate me almost two platesful this morning. I was enjoying coffee and my plate, and he continued on. We came back, and I had suggested since we were staying out late that he take a nap. He didn’t disagree, and after a few more worksheets, he did just that. I was trying to stay awake to make sure he did sleep. I think he did for almost an hour, then it was my turn. He closed his door and played while I snoozed. When I woke up, we played two more games of labyrinth before it was time to go. In the meantime, Peyton had been texting me. Initially, I thought it was my mom, but it turned out that it was Peyton. I wanted to wait until FB “told” Dave where we were heading, and I wanted to wait to tell her, too. But she’s more nosy than him, and she got it out of me later on. More on that…

I decided last minute to go to the game today. I emailed a friend to see on the off chance she was going, as I know they share season tickets. She emailed back she was! Otherwise, my options were train and/or drive and find meter parking. But to carpool and have someone else to go with was great! They came to get us at 3 pm, and they live very close to us! We were all ready to go, and we had bleacher seats, so i had to prepare Brandon. I warned him it could get a bit rowdy. We arrived at the park, walked a few blocks to get in (free street parking!) and then had plenty of time to walk around. We were early enough to get our giveaway – “Vintage” hats. Brandon wanted to wear his in lieu of his Local Motion Hawaiian hat. I was surprised! We got to the bleachers just as BP was wrapping up. Brandon wanted to watch, and I realized we should have brought his glove, since there was a potential for homeruns out there! And it was more of a safety issue! We walked around a bit more, then Brandon wanted to just sit in our seats. Jenny and Bob sat with us for a little bit, then about 30 minutes before game time, they headed out to their seats. Brandon and I went potty before the game, and then were back in time for the National Anthem. It was super sunny, and though I’d warned Brandon about the cold, he chose to wear shorts. At least he had his sweatshirt, and he held our homemade sandwiches in his kangaroo pocket. We brought water into the stadium as well. I offered him one thing to buy for food, and the choice was either caramel corn or garlic fries. But he had to wait 6 innings for that. He didn’t ask again, as he knew what 6 innings were. He had to clarify top, middle or bottom, but I told him I wanted to see the Giants at bat, so it had to be after 6 innings. He said, “So that’s like waiting until the 7th inning, really.” Yup, he got it. We were sitting between Dodgers fans, and to my left, were loud and drunk ones, who also happened to be with Giants fans in their party. But the drunker they got, the more spilled beer happened in front of them. The three in front of them ended up leaving, pretty upset. I think they were moved to better seats. At some point in the game, when he knew it was safe, he took off the SF hat and put his Local Motion one back on. He was chatting up the Dodger fan that was a bit more subdued. He had remembered that Corey Seager got a few lucky calls, and the guy agreed. I hadn’t even been paying attention that closely! He knew the batting order of the Dodgers and was able to tell me who fielded what ball. From where he was, he couldn’t see the backs of the jerseys, but he still knew who they were. I had to check against the Jumbotron, and sure enough, he was right. He was chatty all night long, either to me or to the guy next to him! There were some other rowdy fans who had to be talked to be event staff, so Brandon was interested in that, though they were not saying nice things or using appropriate hand gestures. Unfortunately, he already knows the hand gestures, but equally knows that they are inappropriate. After 6 innings, we headed down to get fries. We split them, and ate them before the end of the inning. By then, the game was getting interesting, with the teams scoring. The giants were up 2-0 by the time we went down for fries, and the Dodgers had come back by the time we had come back with them. By the 8th inning, Jenny texted that there were two seats open next to them. We were going to meet at the statue at the end of the game, but I felt more comfortable sitting by them at the end of the game, both for convenience in finding them and also because it was warmer where they were under the overhang. Once the sun went down, it went from hot to very cold, pretty quickly. Brandon was sitting on my lap for warmth. We waited until the last pitch, then we all headed out. I thought he wouldn’t make it through the ride home, but he was still hanging in. When we got home, he just wanted to go to sleep. He did brush teeth first, then he made a bee line to his bed. Hopefully he gets up on his own tomorrow, as we have a full day, with work, CDC “camp” , and baseball practice after. Peyton will come home tomorrow, too, if she gets on their flights.

He considered making a break for it but I reminded him how slowly he ran the bases, and he gave it a second thought.

Our day

I asked for Brandon to not bother me this morning.  I heard him checking on me early in the morning, but I pretended to sleep.  He finally came back and I “woke” up. I asked him what time it was.  He said, “It’s 9!”  What?!  I got up to get him breakfast.  He ate more of his scone and had some milk.  I made coffee for myself and had it with my scone.  We played a game that I’d promised him last night but it was pre-empted by the Warriors game. We played for a few hours until it was time for lunch and jen baseball at 1 pm. I had planned to walk around the perimeter of the field for exercise but I ended up watching all of practice and texting Dave updates. Soon two hours went by and I chatted with a few moms who had come back to get their kids.  Then we came back and we were going to swim but then he wanted to watch the SF LA baseball game.  We ate dinner at home and watched the game together while playing more of the game. I let him stay up until the game was over, and he was excited for extra innings. We’ll do something else fun tomorrow. I’m enjoying only kid single parent status!!

Peyton is doing well per my mom. I haven’t heard from her but they will stay until Monday.  So we’ll have a “shorter” week.

Sleep study

Brandon’s being evaluated for apnea. So we rushed down to KP in the south to get it done in house. We were late because of Brandon’s late game. They lost in the bottom of the sixth with runners on base. I’d had him shower and took all his sleep stuff with us. He ate dinner that Dave had gotten us earlier in the day. While we were leaving, we saw G’s parents walking the dog without the kids. He wanted me to stay and wait to talk to them. They could see what he was eating, so I explained what was going on. T asked Brandon to take R since he snores, too.  We arrived about 45 minutes late but I’d told them we would be.  They proceeded to hook Brandon up and get him ready. He watched tv while they did that but was fading fast. By 915 he told them he was tired.  I had a reclining chair but it wasn’t all that comfy. I was hoping for the chair that Dave had had when Peyton was born. I was on my phone for about a half an hour while he fell asleep but we were awoken quite a few times overnight as some leads didn’t connect properly.  We were finally woken up at 515 as I was in deep sleep. Luckily they didn’t kick me out as they said they may if I made too much noise. This is why Dave wasn’t allowed in there. Most centralists don’t buy generic levitra set out to deceive anybody. I had to bribe him with an acai bowl, but we got about 4 miles round trip. I got up to 13000 by the time we were watching the game. After our walk, we went to get some ingredients for dinner he was making. He wanted “breakfast for dinner”.   And specifically  wanted to make his own scones. So we got our stuff and started prepping and cooking while the game was starting.  We had one more lemon from our tree. And some basil from the garden.  I made the eggs, pesto and cooked the ham while he made the scones – almond cherry scones.  We ate during the game. I even made myself a drink with mint from the neighbor’s side of the fence and the rest of the softball-sized lemon.  As we were eating, he exclaimed, “Homemade food is so much better!”  He is cooking this summer and I reminded him. He said, “I know. I’m practicing!”

No fun

While watching brandons game, I got a call from my mom. It was Peyton, but she wasn’t saying a thing. Except hi. My mom had been sending me pictures. Like the one of Peyton sitting in the middle of two dudes.

She wasn’t eating. She wasn’t talking. She asked her if she was hungry.  No.  Tired. End of year packet:

Last Day of School

I can’t believe the end of the year has come. Brandon had field day yesterday, and Peyton had practice. I stayed late at work as there was more work than I had time for. As a result, I was late getting Peyton to her practice. She was able to get some pitching in though. I had Brandon with me, and then soon enough, Dave showed up. We stayed out there to watch, and then we all went out to food truck night. I had my 1:1 with the PTA president for next year’s planning at 8 pm, so the kids went home with Dave. I got groceries, since we had met at the store. This morning, I went to work by 7 am. Peyton was just up and I told her I was leaving early. She said, “But it’s Wednesday. It’s not your early day.” She totally knows my schedule. I left her in my bed, where she had crawled, and said goodbye to Brandon. I was only supposed to work half day, and my mom was coming to get the kids from school by 1135 am. But, I left work by 11 am to meet my mom. She took a picture of Peyton’s class, while I was with Brandon. I wanted a picture of the kids with each teacher. I also had a couple of questions for Brandon’s teacher, so I met there. My mom came over with Peyton after they were done. I turned around and came back to work, where I stayed for the rest of my day. My mom took the kids up to my parents’ house, then Dave picked Brandon up when he was done. Then he took him to baseball practice. We went out for dinner with just Brandon, and when we got out of the car, Dave reached for Peyton’s door to open it. I asked him what he was doing. Earlier in the day, he’d gotten Peyton a cell phone! It’s a smart phone that you pay by the month. He activated it for her to bring on her trip. He was such a nervous dad! I wasn’t even that worried. My mom did take her KP card and her passport just in case. We sent Brandon to bed, but he asked if he could stay with us since he said Peyton did when he wasn’t around. I told him he didn’t even know that she did, but he whined about it. I told him he’d be in 5th grade next year, and that whining about sleeping with his parents was just not cool. Of course, he’d one of the few who hugged his dad at the baseball celebration party for the end of the season. He’s such a toddler stuck in a 10 year old’s body. So, we’ll probably see Peyton by the end of the weekend, Dave leaves tomorrow, and Brandon has his baseball game and sleep study overnight. I’m not even ready for that, but we’ll have to rush to get down there right after the game and a shower.
I thought it’d be easier without school in session, but it turns out, I was wrong!
