Early Easter

Carolyn let me know about an event at the flower store where I used to buy our boutonnieres for dances growing up. We registered, and as we pulled into the parking lot, I received a call on the phone. We were late for our flower arranging timeframe, even though I didn’t know there was a hard time to start. We ushered the kids in, and we were set up. But first, they told us to have the kids go egg hunting at the back of the store. I’ve only ever been in the front of the store, but the store extends quite a bit back! The kids were requested to find only 10 eggs, and there was a special silver or gold one available for a “special” prize. Brandon set off in one direction, while Peyton wanted “help”. We refused to help her, but I did walk around with her until she got her eggs. Brandon came up with the special egg, much to his delight! The assistant told us that the prize was more for mommy, as it was a single, red rose! Yippee for me! Flowers from my boy 🙂 We then headed over to our flower arranging. Each kid got their supplies, and the lady helped them with their flowers. At this time, Carolyn and Dave came in with Roy and Matteo. They went for their egg hunt, while we hung out with them for a little bit. We all went up front to get some face/arm painting. While we were waiting our turn, another attendant asked us if we were interested in entering a contest to decide if 8 flowers were real or fake. Actually, it was “faux” but I had to explain to Brandon what that was. I told him, “True or False”. He took the paper, put his name on it, and then headed over to the area where the plants were. The only instructions we were given was, “Do not touch the plants”. Brandon looked at each plant thoughtfully, and decidedly, chose true or false. He took about 2 minutes in total, and then turned his paper in. I had to put my email address on there, and the lady told him to stay put while she checked his answers. We were waiting so long, and the lady disappeared that another person came up to ask Brandon if he needed help. I was gone browsing around, so I had to go back and see what was going on. As soon as I came back, the lady was coming back with a single, red rose. I thought it was his consolation prize, and she said, “Congratulations, you won!” I was incredulous! I had to ask her to repeat herself. She then looked at him, and said, “Did you touch them?” I vouched for him, telling her that I made sure he didn’t touch anything. I couldn’t believe it! Brandon walked back to Dave, and he showed him what he’d won. I also redeemed my own flower, so we walked away with two roses, two flower arrangements and an Easter basket for each kid!

After we were done, we took the kids to the restaurant we went to on date night, minus the drinks.  We headed to get ice cream sandwiches, but Peyton agreed to not have one since we were going to Misha’s afterward.  She sat and watched everyone else eat one.  But Brandon was nice, and he shared some of his cookie with her.  We headed home, and Peyton fell asleep on the car ride, as I’d told her she would be fussy at her playdate.  She agreed, and she was asleep within 2 minutes.  She got a little nap in, and we were still early for the playdate, so we went home to get Brandon’s baseball gear together.  They dropped us off before heading to the park themselves.  It was a Frozen playdate, so we were to watch the movie. But of course, it’s Peyton, so she’d rather play outside than sit still for anything more than an hour.  She complained everyone was singing too loudly.  She rather play with the younger kids, and she ended up on a scooter with Misha’s younger sister.  She did agree to play with the other girls when they were dancing around in princess dresses and coloring.  The kids had snacks, while the parents chatted about our upcoming kindergarten starts.  We left around 6pm, having stayed there almost 4 hours!  Sydney had made cookies for all the girls, so we were taking our baggie home.  Peyton and I walked home, and she didn’t complain at all!  She was excited to see Dave’s car in the driveway.  She did tell him she was a bit fussy. Dinner was served right as we got home!  The kids went down at an early time by 730 pm, since we had such a busy day.
