Busy Evening to Busy Morning

I went from a busy evening last night, to an early morning. I got up with the alarm at 6:20 am, and got ready.  After receiving good news from the noon aide about Brandon’s leadership at the lunch line up, and getting his “wile coyote friends to settle down for dismissal for recess”, I received a note from his teacher that he was throwing food out the window on his field trip, and throwing food at the lunchtime.  I went in to tell him his consequence, which will be to pick up 100 pieces of trash in our neighborhood this weekend.  He seemed agreeable, and we’ll see how he will respond when doing it.  I fixed Peyton’s hair (she was still in bed), then I left and was at work by 7 am. I saw a patient at 730 am, then left work by 830 am to make it to the awards ceremony.  I ran into Melanie, from MA, one of Peyton’s friend’s mom, as well as the same noon aide from yesterday.  We’re co-leads, and she was accepting a huge honor award, which was unbeknownst to me until I looked at the program. Melanie asked me how I was able to be in so many places at once.  She has 4 kids, and stays at home, and is constantly running after them.  We went to the same field trip on Friday, but I told her I start early, and use my time off or lunch to get things done.

I’m glad I was there to cheer my co-lead on, as she was definitely deserving of the award.  She brought our reading program into the school, and helped make it what it is today. But last night, she also got the email from the teacher to recommend a different table assignment for Brandon, but she is optimistic that he will learn from his mistakes, and continue to grow.

I rushed back to work, by 1115 am, and will proceed to work until normal hours are done.  Then, Brandon has baseball practice, which he expressed to Dave being nervous about.  He was worried that the coach was going to be disappointed.  He even told Dave that he may not want to play next year because “we always lose.”  Dave told him to keep practicing, and to not mess around during practice, and he will get better.  Playing for the Giants last weekend helped boost his confidence, and also showed the other coaches what he can do.  Also, this summer, he will be playing for our division’s tournament team, and none of his “friends” will be on the team.  This may be another way to renew his interest in the game, as he will be surrounded by those who are more serious about playing, both coaches/parents as well as the kids.  Brandon is starting this weekend with that team, so hopefully we continues to enjoy playing.  He’s doing pretty well, starting first base, and getting on base most of the time.  The extra holiday couldn’t come soon enough.  I’m exhausted…and caffeinated, but still exhausted.
