Sunday Fun!

This morning, Peyton and I hung around the house, while Dave and Brandon went on a coffee run. We got ready to go when they came back, so we could head over to the Chao’s for Sydney’s first birthday. We arrived just as the other guests had, and that meant 6 kids right off the bat. The birthday girl was napping, but we had the other kids there. Brandon was the oldest by a long shot, with Cameron (5), Peyton (5), Caroline (5), Logan (3), and finally Lauren (16 months). We had reminded Brandon that he was the oldest there, and that he had to play nicely with the younger ones. There were soccer balls and footballs there to keep the kids entertained. Then, a bat and tee appeared. Both Dave and I groaned, “Uh oh.” The kids were taking turns hitting, then Brandon was up, and launched the plastic ball with the plastic bat against the side of the house. There was no damage, but that pretty much sealed the deal for him to bat again. I think he tried once more, and he almost parked the ball. The kids all ate well, with ribs, guac, pulled pork, corn, sweet potatoes, grilled mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, broccoli slaw, and potato salad. There was a ton of food! Later, strawberries and grapes were served, and the kids ate that, too. Sydney did join us for lunch, and she was watching Brandon, who was sitting next to her. After lunch, the kids played with mini water cannons. Cake was served, and the birthday girl showed us how long her reach was and got her hand in the cake at least twice. Due to food allergies, she wasn’t able to enjoy her hand. Then Kenny had to leave to take his dad to the airport. He’d made a weekend stopover from his return from Taiwan, so that made it possible for him to stay for Sydney’s birthday. levitra generic vardenafil One can therefore imagine how many mails it takes for a spammer to sustain. We all started to wrap up our visit at that point. We thanked our hosts, and then headed home for a nap. To get Brandon to stop swinging the bat, we told him we’d take him out later that afternoon. We told Peyton to sleep, and we’d all go to the field. Brandon didn’t want to sleep, so I told him to choose either between an online book and quiz or sleep, hoping he’d pick sleep. He chose the book instead. So I sat with him for the next 45 minutes while he read and then took the quiz. But after reading (and yawning through the book), he said, “I think I want to go take a nap now.” He went to lie down, so I went downstairs and did the same. When everyone was up, we headed to the park with their baseball gear. Both kids have been wanting to bat, but not wanting to field, so we have to do the fielding first. Peyton was having a cow about now wanting to field, so she needed to wait a bit until she regained composure. Brandon was getting a kick out of it, and I think this motivated him more, as he was really hustling out there. Dave wanted me to field, but I opted to hit balls to Brandon instead. Dave didn’t think I could do it, but I showed him! Finally, Peyton got it together, and she fielded 10 balls as was her pre-requisite for hitting. After she did that, she happily went to home plate with her bat. I was able to video her, with Brandon fielding. She was able to get some of the tennis balls out of the infield! Once we get past her mental issues with fielding, she could become a good ball player! She already told us she doesn’t want to go to pioneer (the next step after t-ball), but she would prefer softball instead.
