Happy Housewarming

Today, we had an easy morning, slowly getting up, though Dave took Peyton to go get firewood for next weekend’s camping trip. She’d already practiced her piano, so she was free to go with him. We headed up to see my dad to get more firewood from under the house, and to say hello, before we headed over to the Kong’s for a housewarming party. They moved, and we were invited to check out their new digs. We arrived when another family did, and the kids all got to play together with the Kong boys and the Alyssa and Alaina. Soon, other families arrived, and the party was in full swing. There was a hot dog bar, and the kids were both hungry. We got them set up to eat, then we headed out onto the balcony to eat our lunch. Later, we migrated out to play basketball. Brandon wanted to stay inside, but Dave was with the other boys shooting around. Peyton wanted me to get her pink ball, but as soon as I brought it out, she told me, “No, put it away!” I think she was embarrassed to start playing. Finally, Brandon asked to watch the Lego movie, and that settled everyone down in one place. It was a good time to go, as the kids didn’t put up a fight. We said our thank you and good byes, then we headed back to my dad’s house. The kids were happy to go back there. They headed downstairs on their own to continue playing, while Dave watched baseball. I was surprised not to hear from either one of them, so I headed down to see what was going on. They were doing different things; Peyton was playing with the match cards, while Brandon was setting up a car track. Later, Dave went down, and he found them playing with different things, but Brandon told us, “We cleaned up the other things already.” We headed out to dinner with my dad, then came home to get my car. Peyton fell asleep in the car on the way back, but she woke up quickly after we got home. Both showered up, and Brandon practiced piano, while Peyton went to bed. I doubt we’ll be able to stay up late tonight, as I missed my afternoon nap đŸ™‚
