Typical Saturday

Today, Dave had to drive pretty far to pick up a cabinet for our garage via CL. Dave was going to take Peyton, since Brandon had his reading to finish up, but that was motivation for him to start reading. He finished two chapters aloud with me, and then we hit the road, where he proceeded to finish up the book.  We passed it back and forth between us, every other page.  By the last few pages, I was feeling ill, so I told him to read quietly to himself.  He let me know the summary (I’d read it already), and we reviewed vocab words.  We arrived, and the owner helped Dave get it into the third row.  We thanked him and headed out.  We had about 20 minutes before the outlets opened up, so we grabbed coffee and wandered around the stores.  It was not crowded at all, so it was nice to roam about without running into the crowds we’d experienced before.  We shopped for a couple of hours before the kids were hungry again.  They are non-stop hungry!  We had lunch, then hit the road again to drive back. I think we all fell asleep; I know at least Peyton and I did.  Dave headed out with Brandon to go practice baseball, while Peyton and I walked.  She was resistant to, but we did anyway.  We ended up at the park, where we teeter-tottered, swung on the swings, and I just followed her around the structures.  We headed back to the boys, and they were joined by another dad coach and his son.  They’d opened up the batting cages, and the two boys played together.  It was like a baseball playdate.  Earlier in the day, one of Brandon’s friend’s mom asked for a playdate.  Since we were already on the road, we postponed it to tomorrow.  Dave’s going to pick up the boy, and they will all go to the park to throw around and practice.  We’re in the process of trying to get him on Dave’s team. I  missed the deadline, and it was 8:04 pm before we stopped it, but we sent the kids up to bed by then.  They complained a little, but we told them that they would have a limited time and should do what they need to do (the showering and piano time).  We’ll watch the rest of it tomorrow after the early morning playdate (8 am!).  They only got through the first scene, which was really different from the book.  I’m curious to see it, too!
