Fun Run

This morning, we headed to school at the same time as regular school starts, even earlier in fact! We left home at 730 am. We took a family picture, and the kids looked around for their friends. It was neat to see Peyton with friends at school now, having people walk around saying hi to her. The first was a girl named Emma, who had a tutu on. Brandon was still looking for classmates. Then, both kids went to go play on the structure. Brandon wanted to go line up early, and he decided he wanted to run. At the last minute, he found a friend, and then the one of the twins. It was decided I would run with Brandon, since I needed to “train”, while Dave would walk/run with Peyton. Peyton saw her friend, Daniel, and she nicely asked, “Would you like to run with me?” He didn’t hear since it was loud, so I asked him if he would like to run with us. His mom had a stroller, too, with the baby, so we adopted Daniel to walk with us. Dave said he’d not signed up for two! When it was time, Brandon and his friends took off. I wanted to stay with them, but I had to sprint! I made my way to catch up, and they had slowed down right outside of the school. They were very energetic, but they couldn’t hold it. I was essentially sprint-training today, but I did feel sick by the end of the first mile. My phone told me we’d run a 9 minute mile. That’s quick for me…and I felt it. Luckily, they settled down a bit, and I had to convince them all to run the full 5K and not turn at the 2K mark. We picked up another twin, and the PTA president’s youngest, for a total of 5. By the last mile, I was their cheerleader. I was challenging them to keep going. There was a car that pulled out, and I challenged the kids to race the car (it was crawling). They did it, and it got us half a block or so. I’d also race them, to a stop sign or some other landmark. At one point, Tyler took me up on the race, and I was running as fast as I could. I was slightly ahead of Tyler at one point, but Tyler’s endurance beat me, and again, I felt like an asthmatic. And wanted to puke. We left Brandon with Carter, as they were both walking. I’m sad to say my kid is the first one to say, “Hey, guys, let’s stop running now.” The kids didn’t need much convincing and would gladly stop. I think Brandon was definitely annoyed by my presence, but none of the other guys cared (that I could sense anyway). Maybe he was annoyed that I was racing Tyler, and left him behind. Either way, we got back to school, and I was keeping up with the front three, and I waited for Brandon to come in.

We came home right away so Dave could get his line up ready for their game.  Peyton and I headed to the store to get fueled up for the week, while the boys went to the game.  My parents showed up then we headed over to the game, too.  It was great, since it was during lunch. I’d packed up a lunch for her, and that would hold her for at least 30 minutes.  Brandon got up 4 times.  I was practicing with my new phone.  Unfortunately, it’s not as clear as my old phone 🙁   But it did have slow motion.  Dave is using it to analyze the pitching 🙂   For comparison, this is video with my other phone.
