“I’m Not Tired”

Peyton woke up at their usual time of 6:30 am, and our day started right away.  By noon, after we’d done our errands, she was zoning out in the car.  We got home before she fell asleep, but Dave knew it was soon.  We disagreed that she should take a nap, since she doesn’t get to during the weekdays, and I didn’t want it to interrupt her sleep later tonight.  I started working with Brandon on his project; he was doing his thing, and I was working on my calendar pages to keep him company.  Peyton was watching TV while Dave was cooking.  After one more cartoon, I told her no more tv, and she should go in her room and do something quietly.  Dave told her to go lie down, but she didn’t have to sleep.  Just rest.  Five minutes later, I went to check on her, as it was pretty quiet.  Yep, sure enough, fast asleep.   By the time Brandon and I had finished up, she’d woken up, but at least she got about an hour in.  Famous last words…”But I’m not tired.”
