Ya Betta Recognize!

Today I headed to work for 2 hours, then headed over to Brandon’s gingerbread party. He told me his teacher told him he would flip his card down if he snuck candy. I asked her when I got there, and she said that was not true at all. Maybe he was trying to get me to NOT come. No such luck. He didn’t gorge himself, not like some of the other kids. Mrs S told him they could eat one cookie before the movie, and then after lunch. After decorating and cleaning up, I headed to Peyton’s party. They were just cleaning up from their party. They weren’t supposed to eat any candy in their class. I helped the other moms clean up the tables and put the class back together. There were others there who just wanted to watch their own kids, and were making the aisle difficult to walk up and down with their kids standing around. Some of their kids were fighting with each other, and they went unchecked. I commented to one of the noon aides, who acknowledged it as well. Finally, we headed back to the class for rainy day recess as it had started to sprinkle. Lunch went by quickly as Mrs. M stayed in her classroom. Peyton’s performance was next. She was the old lady in the Gingerbread Man play. After the finale, we had the party.  Peyton chose a cookie, and some fruit and carrots.  She ate a piece of quiche as well.  She didn’t want it at first, but then after trying a bite, she went to ask for her own piece from V’s mom.  We met up with Brandon, and then we went home.  We hung out for awhile then we headed to swim class.  While we walked in, another kid came in behind us.  Peyton turned to me and said, “She was at Kavya’s party.”  I told her, “No, I don’t think so.”  Peyton heard the mom call “Iris”.  Brandon said, “Yea, she was at Kavya’s!”  Now I know he was lying, because he didn’t even go to Kavya’s party!  While they were in the pool, I decided to ask the mom if she knew KL.  She didn’t recognize the name, so I started giving her the schools where Kavya goes and went.  She finally recognized one of the schools as one that Iris went.  I told her why Peyton thought she was familiar, and then finally she acknowledged that she had gone to a cooking party.  She had dropped off, so she didn’t know the kids there.   I told her I stayed, and I still didn’t know the kids.  Peyton is a good study.  We chatted about swim class (Iris has the other swim teacher).  The kids were being a little silly, but they were progressing.  Peyton was actually swimming laps now, practicing her backstroke, unassisted while Brandon was getting pointers from the teacher.  It was cold in the water, even though the teacher said it was 85 degrees.  Peyton didn’t want to wait for her, so she just did her thing.  They wrapped up with frog kicks before playing.  We wrapped and said goodbye to Iris’ mom, saying Happy Holidays to Ms. Sarah.  We headed home for showers, and then Peyton and I played a few rounds of our new dance game.  Brandon preferred to play in his room.  The new game comes with karaoke, and while I was “singing”, he said, “What has gotten into you?”  Hahah…glad Peyton was happy to entertain me.  We got through almost 10 songs before Dave came home.  Brandon only joined us for the last two of them.  We had dinner home, and we will lay low until tomorrow when we have Dave’s family birthday party tomorrow after basketball practice.  I’ll have to figure out what to do with Peyton.  Maybe some more dancing!
