Yes, seems like all we do these days. Well, and homework. The kids were up later than usual this morning, in part because of the walk a thon. We didn’t have much snuggle time, but at least we were the visiting team, meaning no field prep today. Peyton and I arrived first, and we started to warm up. She wanted pop flies, so that’s what I threw her. Soon, the other teammates arrived, one by one. I warned Peyton she wouldn’t be first or home run hitter, so she should just relax. And that she should keep her hands out of the dirt, and pay attention. We’ll see…
here’s her first at-bat. I film since Dave isn’t there… just in case it’s something exciting:
Second:
Third:
Peyton played short stop her first inning on the field, then short stop, and then first base.
Here’s one of the better plays, which was almost an out. It’s the best 3rd inning she’s had, since it’s a great position for her to pay attention. The goal of each play is to throw to first base, so she has to be ready.

Then, we had snack, packed up and headed to Brandon’s game. They were the visitors team, too. This will be the last back to back game, so the boys can watch Peyton from now on 🙂
I left my phone in the car, so no footage. Brandon had a great play at short stop when he fired a rocket into the first baseman’s glove for an out. He tried it with another first baseman on another inning, and the first baseman didn’t catch it. He was a little smaller and more timid, but David G. is solid! Brandon has a few teammates he knows he can throw hard to, and they will catch it every time. I think other times, he just throws it and hopes for the best. There were a couple inside the park home runs against our team, but to their credit, they tried to make plays, not just kill the ball at pitcher.
We came home, and Peyton ate lunch, then napped. Brandon worked on his homework, before they left for game #2. Peyton earned ipad time from good behavior from the first game. We showed up just as the teams were starting to play.
Brandon was playing for another team, filling in, but he got good positions!
Here he is at pitcher:
He also fielded a ball at pitcher that he had to back-hand stop and throw to first base for the out, but Peyton was talking to me 🙁
I even texted Dave, “UGH, missed it.”
Here’s one of his hits. The other team is from a different league, and they are overall a much better league. We played them on Tuesday and got creamed.
