Dave went to prep the field yesterday morning, while I got the kids ready to go. Both needed breakfast, and only Peyton needed to get dressed, as Brandon’s game was later in the afternoon. I got there to the field and were the first of our team to arrive. Dave had just come from the other field, having prepped the wrong field, despite my multiple reminders. I warmed Peyton up while Dave finished up. Brandon had legos so he was set. I set up behind the backstop, with Peyton’s gear all ready to go in the dugout. I was still not feeling well, so I was anti-social, and didn’t want to sit too close to anyone. Dave helped manage the dugout, while Brandon and I watched from our chairs. Peyton played in the outfield, second base, and pitcher in the three innings. (I forgot my phone to Peyton’s games, so these videos are from Dave’s phone)
She also enjoyed tagging all the runners after the home-run hitter batted
For the other side of the field, she had a blooper to a foot or two in front of her and was stunned.
She didn’t run at first, but then got to first. The second inning, she hit it to the outfield again!
Another dad mentioned it, and then his older kid said, “But to be fair, she hit it out there only because the defense couldn’t field it.” Haha…couldn’t agree with her more (she’d be out if she were playing against Brandon’s team, hopefully), but still, she got some power behind it. We ran out of time, and the home team didn’t get our last ups. We packed up and headed home. The kids then took turns practicing piano, which was painful, since it was their “Friday” and everything was new. Peyton and I headed to take a nap, while Brandon and Dave took off early for their game. I set my alarm to wake me up before the game, but Peyton woke up before that time. She came down and curled up next to me like a service dog to its owner! She nuzzled next to me, flopped on top of me, and tried to go back to sleep, too. When my alarm went off, we headed to the game. My eyes were still watery, so I wore my glasses during the game. Coach Tom was there with Hana to watch, too, so I was a bit more chatty than earlier in the day. We saw them on their bikes while we were driving over. Brandon hit a foul ball that came very close to hitting a car. After the game, Dave told me it was close to HIS car! When he parked there, Brandon had warned him about foul balls, but Dave just left it there. How ironic it would have been if it had been Brandon’s foul ball that damaged the car!

It took a bit of time to get the ball back.
Against a good-fielding team, Brandon hit an RBI single.
After the game, we headed back home. Both kids wanted to ride with Dave. They stopped at the library on their way back, as Brandon got a library card from our own city’s library through school.
We ate at home, and the kids went to bed relatively early. This morning was also quite boring, as Dave was trying to make it rain so he wouldn’t have to host practice on Easter. He did call it at around noon when it started to sprinkle, telling me it’s a pain to have his stuff all wet. He went to practice with Peyton outside, while Brandon did his homework. Both did piano, and then I headed out with Brandon to TJ’s. Brandon had to practice for his cereal commercial, so Dave took Peyton out for dinner. Brandon didn’t mind at all, as he got some alone time. I filmed Brandon with his memorized commercial. Hopefully he is able to duplicate this at school, as I think he did a good job.
He’s missing his cereal box, which he brought to school already.
At bedtime, I got to read with each kid. Actually, for Brandon, we put on the audio CD for the book he’s reading now. He’d done his “real” reading earlier in the day, but this was his pleasure book. For Peyton, we read together, and when I read “pupil” I asked her if she knew what that meant. It was in the context of “student”, however she said, “You know, the part of your eye.” I was surprised she knew even one of the meanings!
