This morning, Dave dropped Brandon off at Tom’s again, this time for pancakes, while he took Peyton to her game. With my 15 extra minutes, I washed the dishes 🙂 Yay, me. Dave warmed Peyton up, then I arrived and set up my chair with my hot tea. I chatted with another mom when the other coach’s wife showed up. I wasn’t as good filming Peyton, since we were behind the fence. Peyton played first base, and on two plays, she fielded the ball then ran back to first base for the out. Now that they are counting outs, and pulling runners off the base, Peyton seems to hustle a bit more. She is running faster around the bases to avoid the tag as well. After her game, the team had make up pictures. Peyton told me, “There’s a pitcher after the game” after last practice. I thought maybe they were having a clinic for pitching, but didn’t understand, since the kids were too young to learn to pitch. Then, I realized, “PICTURE” not “PITCHER”. I laughed, and Dave said, “Oh you mean like ‘SCIENCE’ versus ‘SIGNS’,” which is how he got suckered into Walk a Thon sign duty. Oopsies. This took awhile as we were waiting for a soccer team. Dave had already left to go to Brandon’s game. We arrived in the 4th inning to a close game. Dave was in the stands, which is strange to see, and Peyton wanted to sit with him. She enjoyed having him there to watch with her, as she hasn’t had the opportunity much. Dave left to go meet his kids at the other park, while I stayed and waited for Brandon. Two of his teammates were also on the Tom’s team. Peyton was hungry, so I told her she could eat a hamburger. I asked her to go find out how much money it was, so she did. Then, when she came back, I gave her the money. She stood over by the grill and waited patiently for her food. It was great to see her doing this by herself. And also so that I didn’t have to entertain her in the stands. She got her food right as the game was ending. Brandon went to redeem his snack shack ticket for a donut, then we headed to the next game. It was against Kyle’s team again, for the third game this week. Brandon said he overheard Kyle telling his teammates, “That’s my friend, Brandon!” He also warned his teammates to back up when he was up to bat. Maybe because of this…
to be fair, it was coach pitch.

Peyton was more fidgety during this game before another younger brother showed up with a tablet. Brandon played a bit of catcher this game, and he did a great job! He didn’t get to pitch though. I headed home with the kids while Dave took the gear. We headed to the bookstore as Michelle had informed me of a sale. Both kids picked out two books, then we headed to lunch. Both kids were more interested in books, and we had to request that they remove them from the table instead of trying to eat and read. We came home and napped, then piano, then a later dinner before sending the kids to bed, still later than their usual. Brandon finished his book that he’d been reading, and when asked what he would start up with, he fished around for the used books I’d bought in the series, and started the third book. He’s wanting to read more and more of it! He ended up reading for an over, without complaints, and aloud. We now have to watch the movie from the first book he read. The third movie hasn’t been made yet, so at least we’re not too far behind! I’d been using the movies as the way to get him to finish the books and stay interested, but it seems he’s hooked!
Lined up by height. Surprisingly, bottom third of her team.
She borrowed a glove since I’d put hers away in the car.
She’s growing up. Waiting all by herself for her food. But at one point, she had her hand on her hip like she was posing.
b playing catcher.
