This week, Peyton has been on gold every day. She had one more day to get a gold, and then she’d get to pick a prize in her teacher’s box. She’s been getting all her stars, and the teacher is impressed with her behavior. This morning, Dave left to take the train, while I held down the fort. I’d gone out and gotten food for lunch today. We need to feed Brandon more, and Peyton more iron, so I got them a huge meat ball to split with their pasta. I’m trying to convince Brandon to eat more during lunch. He’s concerned himself that he is not growing, so I think he’s trying to eat more at school. I attended their flag salute, and I was able to get both kids in the same shot!
It’s a bit like finding Waldo, but they are both there.
They sang it again:

After flag salute, I attended Coffee with the Principal to learn more about the comings and goings for the rest of this year and next. There will be 7 1st grade classes next year, and 5 kinders. There are a bunch of teachers leaving and some have already been replaced. After the coffee session, I headed to the book fair to get some more books. I was alone with the librarian, and we chatted for a bit about books and kids’ interests. She has an extensive non-fiction section, and I told her Brandon appreciated it. And I was trying to get Peyton more into non-fiction, as she was mostly into fiction. I stocked up on some baseball books that I thought Brandon would enjoy – by Cal Ripken Jr and Derek Jeter. I headed to work, and then came back in time to pick up kids. They both practiced piano, then we headed to swim. This is how exhausting it is to be on good behavior at school.
She was sleeping for maybe 15 minutes, but it was enough to rejuvenate her. They only have 2 more weeks before their tri, so laps were in order along with the flip turn.
Earlier in the day, Dave had texted me that he wanted to go to the movies. So, I told the kids we were doing something “special”. Unfortunately, Dave didn’t come home in time to catch the movie. We were going to eat at home, then head out to dessert at the mango shave ice place. Unfortunately there was a long line, and it was getting late. The kids were not listening well to us, so we cut our losses, and we headed home to their dismay. At least it was a lesson learned where it was something we weren’t really up for anyway, but THEY don’t need to know that 🙂 I kept hinting to Dave that I wanted to go back to dland this weekend, since the park is open for 24 hours. We could have watched World Of Color at 3 am!! Instead, we have no plans for the weekend, but resting up! It’s strange for us to be this up in the air on a weekend such as this! We’ll have to find something to do…
