First Day!

This morning, Dave took Peyton, while I went to work with Brandon. He brought a comic book and pokemon cards, and I brought the kindle for him. He finished up a book, then read his comics and his pokemon cards. We headed to his appointment, and the pedi endo basically told us Brandon needed to eat more and sleep more, both of the things I’ve been telling him about. She is going to follow up with him in another 6 months, but it was a good first visit! We went back to work for a little bit, and Michelle graciously fed Brandon all kinds of snacks – protein (dried fish), carbs (kimchi crackers) and a piece of fruit. He was set with water from the office. After that, we headed to return a pair of shoes I’d gotten online. We then went to get lunch, courtesy of his participation from the triathlon. It was a buy one get one free coupon for a sandwich at WF. He told me as he read from the coupon, “Buy one, get one free sandwich. Yay, I can get the free sandwich, and you can buy one!” WF took awhile, since we had to wait for the sandwiches. He tried some protein bars as well as some yogurt drink that was set up. We also put together a cheese plate, since he was inspired the last time we went to Violette’s house. We asked the cheesemonger for “goat blue cheese”. He recommended a gouda, so he tried that and liked it. There were some small little “bits and pieces” of cheese that we found, so we got a few pieces and a baguette to re-create a cheese plate for him. That’s a way to bulk him up! The French way 🙂
I had to tell the pedi that we were trying not to make food a competition with Peyton, so having her gone helps. We called my mom, and Brandon was sure to tell her not to feed Peyton sweets, like candy and cookies. She said that he didn’t get it, so she wouldn’t give it to her either. (He’d also warned Peyton directly…making sure she didn’t eat too many sweet things there.)

We came home, and he only got through one half of the sandwich. I’d also re-heated my chicken and mashed potatoes from last night, and he gobbled that up. He did one math worksheet, then self-imposed a nap! He’s resting now, and he will get up and do some more work before I head to dinner tonight for Tracy’s birthday.
