Peyton was particularly huggy tonight, taking any opportunity to give me a big bear hug. We drove home for dinner. In the car, I asked her who she missed the most, me, Daddy or Brandon. She didn’t hesitate and said, “Mommy.” But then said, “Brandon and Daddy, too.” Initially she said she didn’t have fun, but then I clarified, “Because you missed Mommy.” But later, she said, she did have fun. On Thursday, in particular, after swimming and getting her nails done, she declared, “This is the BEST. THURSDAY. EVER!!!” After dinner, she went up to her room and laid in her bed. She said, “I missed Mommy, Daddy, Brandon AND my BED!” She stretched herself out, and just said, “AHHHHH….” They both got to bed much later than I’d intended, but both were stalling in my defenseless of single-parenting after having almost no responsibility in kids this past week. Dave is still not home, having a night out with coworkers while bowling and saying farewell to one. Peyton asked me when he was getting home.
She said, “Because I miss Daddy.” So sweet. She’s such a home body. She also knows there are 5 more days until we are on vacation. When my mom was trying to find the baseball game on TV tonight, the news Peyton tolcame on. I told her to quickly find it because the news was all kinds of not good lately. Peyton told me, “Yeah, I had nightmares, and I cried.” My mom hadn’t known that she was crying. I told her that she’s super sensitive to stuff like that, which is why she couldn’t go to the movies with us today. She told me, “The movie was PG-13. I still have 7 years to go, I’m not even close.” She did call Brandon out on it, that he wasn’t 13 yet either. He just told her to mind her own business
