over.Now we know why parents will wait in such a long line for this ride, in the sweltering heat, if only to see the joy on their kids’ faces, like we saw on Brandon’s, as he watched little figurines from around the world singing their song. Rides that he did not enjoy so much: Pirates of the Caribbean and Roger Rabbit. Last year, we took him on the ride and the only thing we were worried about was him getting wet (but Joe Velez helped us out and took one for the team). Now that he is a year older, he is more aware. He thought he was in a cool boat ride, relaxing with his feet up on the bow as we were in the first row. Ahh….nice and dark, sheltered from the heat, what could be better. Until the first drop…! I held onto him tightly just to be safe, but his once relaxed body clenched up and he made this odd holding-his-breath guttural kind of noise all the way down. I could feel each muscle become tense and he proceeded to turn right around and wrap all four limbs around me like a baby monkey. This was all before the second drop, after which he yelped a little and buried his face. He barely looked at the skeletons, probably expecting another drop somewhere else in the ride. In Roger Rabbit, unfortunately, Brandon had to ride sitting next to me on his own. This didn’t quite work out so well because he was sloshing about in the cab. Half way through the ride, he had had enough and wanted out! It was all I could do to keep him in the cab, with him screaming and crying until the ride was over and I picked him up. After a traumatic few rides, we figured Astroblasters would be better, but he as you can see from the picture, he still looks a little perplexed! Maybe he’ll enjoy more next year. We were totally into blasting Zurg!
