DJ Brandon, Peyton’s “vocabulary” & Field Trip

There was some concern that Brandon may have hearing loss.  Seems that he doesn’t listen to his teachers.  Well, we thought it was probably doubtful, but we decided since a referral was made for a hearing test, to just do it.  Here are some pictures this morning with the audiologist (by the way, the audiologist says he has above average hearing; forehead’s a bit pasty from sunblock):

Brandon was put into a soundproof room.  I had a choice to stay there with him, but since Peyton was up (rare, I know), and a little fussy, I stayed outside.  When the audiologist closed the door, she was worried that Brandon might freak out.  I stayed on the other side of the glass and kept smiling at him to let him know I was there.

On our way to pick up Brandon, Peyton was showing off her big girl “words”.  She was going through all her vowels in the backseat.  We were on speaker phone with my mom, and my mom thought Brandon was already in the car!  She still loves “her friend” – which is what I call her blue rattle, a throwback from Brandon’s baby stash.  Brandon never cared for it too much, but Peyton will chase “her friend” around all night long in the crib.  She usually wakes up with him close by.
Tonight, since the weather was a little nicer, I decided to take Brandon on a field trip.  He’s too young to go on them at school, so I thought it might be nice.  We walked to the yogurt store; although, when we left the house, I told him it was a field trip.  I made him walk as well.  We brought the double stroller because Dave thought he’d want to ride home after.  Figured we should let him burn some energy before putting sugar in him.  We were almost to the store when he tried to get me to pick him up.  He also said, “My stomach is ripping.”  Maybe he had cramps since we had just eaten dinner?  Too bad for him.  I asked him how his stomach was doing while he was eating the yogurt.  Not surprisingly, there were no complaints.  In fact, he showed us his nice, round tummy.  Right after 8pm, Brandon said, “Hey, it’s past my bedtime!”  Funny how he could “tell time” – maybe it was the sun going down, or that he was just sleepy.  He did tell me that he didn’t sleep enough at school and that he had woken up too early this morning.  As we were ready to walk back, we saw Julie and Robert.  Peyton was sleeping in the back of the stroller, while Brandon had just gotten into the front seat.  I wonder if they were bringing any yogurt back for Copter.  Hmmm…they didn’t have any carrot toppings or carrot yogurt, so probably not.  When we got home, Peyton woke up, holding “her friend”.  Dave thinks Peyton is just being antisocial by pretending to sleep so she doesn’t have to say hi to our friends.
