Today, my family got together to celebrate my birthday. We went to a restaurant where we know the head chef. My dad, aunt and uncle were already at the restaurant. There was an art and wine festival going on at the same time. We were to meet at 1030 am, and we were there just at that time, though we had walked already 5 blocks or so. Neither grandma was there. My mom was scared off by the prospect of traffic, and my own grandma was not feeling well, so she didn’t come. We had a nice time eating brunch. My dad, Dave and I ordered the chicken and waffles. All the kids’ items were sweet, and since I knew Brandon would eat more, I ordered him the scramble. He was not happy and proceeded to be a grouch for the rest of the lunch. The chef had desserts sent to the table for the adults – chocolate cake and bread pudding, and for each kid, a scoop of ice cream and sundae fixings! Brandon was banned, but I gave him half a scoop, which he enjoyed. We thanked the chef, and we headed to my dad’s car to say bye, then walked once through the stalls. We walked quite a bit in the sun, and then we came home for our (Peyton and me) nap. Dave and Brandon went out to the baseball game, while Peyton and I headed over on foot after nap. She packed up her own bag of things to do, and she carried it on her own. We got there just as the play was about to start. Brandon was lead-off batter again. This time, he walked, as the pitchers didn’t throw any strikes. He was patient and took his base. The game was fairly uneventful, and we were under shade, so it was nice. We headed to dinner after that, and then back home to get ready for the week ahead. NO school for the kids tomorrow, but we will have swim and then the rest of the week thereafter.
