Busy week

It’s only Tuesday, but already we are exhausted!
Dave came home yesterday by 630 pm after we’d returned from swimming, and half an hour later, I was at an art meeting at school that lasted an hour.
I came back to a quiet house. Peyton had already fallen asleep, and Brandon was close or there. Today, I got in to work at my usual time of 6 am, and then I left by 815 am to get to school. I was chaperoning Brandon’s class for a play nearby. As the teacher was dismissing my group to me, she looked at the first of two boys and said, “Be respectful.” To the second, she said, “You, too.” Greeeeat. The kids did fairly well in the car; it was a short ride, and they were trying to get me to take them to “The City”. Then one kid said he’s hungry. I told him “No popcorn, sorry!” One thing the kids all had in common was a sister. Brandon and another guy had younger sisters, while the other kid had an older one, almost 16. He was telling the other two that he wished he had a younger sister, since his older sister was bossy. He said, “She tells me to ‘Get out of my room!'” Brandon said, “So, my sister tells me that, too!” But K said, “My sister is mean though! And I have to listen to her!” Hopefully Brandon will appreciate his sister as a result. A found a drawing Peyton had done of the Microsoft logo ,and he thought it was pretty neat. The play was nicely done, with some bigger vocab. I wanted to take note of some of the words being used, as I didn’t think they’d know some of the words. I was trying my hardest to stay awake, even having had a half-cup of coffee already. But I dozed for a few longer seconds in there. I was hoping no one would notice. I placed myself on the end, and we came up short on seats, so I had one boy sit in the row in front of me. He was complaining about it a bit, but I didn’t give me another way. He could sit in the seat in front of me on the left, or in front of me on the right. I think Brandon’s friends will think I’m mean 🙂 However, we arrived to and from safely, and quietly, so I was happy about that. The teacher wasn’t happy with some parents who took off and didn’t check back in with her after the play was done. She asked us going ahead to wait with the kids until she arrived. He was starting to ask why, then answered his own question as he realized I was there with him. The kids gave us a big thank you, and then I got back to work by 1130 am. About 10 minutes after band, I called CDC to see if Brandon had checked in. I hadn’t informed them ahead of time, since I wasn’t sure how much I would work after versus using PTO. They told me that he had indeed checked in with them and told them why he was there. Proud of him for being responsible. (Later he told me he wrote it on his hand so he wouldn’t forget). I worked until 430 pm or so, then headed out in a rush. Piano was at 525 pm for Brandon, and I was late by 3 minutes. First time! Peyton read for 30 minutes, while Brandon did his thing. When we came home, I had them shower up while I got dinner ready. Brandon told me K wanted to meet me in person. I told him I’d met him before while doing PC reading. Brandon clarified, “NO, he wanted to get to know who you were and see how you were. If you were mean.” I asked him, “So?” Brandon said, “He didn’t say.” Oops…It took awhile to get dinner done with in addition to homework. I asked him if he had auditioned for a solo, since sign ups were last Thursday. He’d been practicing a song over the weekend. He said, “Yep, I’m hired!” Yay for him! G got VP, and I told him it was exciting, and that he can say, “She had to get through me to get it!” He said, “Ya, that’s what I told her!” My final trip for the day included going to the library to return books. They are due tomorrow, but Dave and I have the walk a thon meeting tomorrow at 645 pm. It’s supposed to go until 9, but Dave won’t stay that long.
I can only imagine what it is going to be like! Thursday is Brandon’s end of the season party, and Friday morning is my PC book reading. I’m missing the training meeting tomorrow night, but at least I’ve done it two years ago. More caffeine, please!
