Long 48 hours!!

Yesterday started with school drop off by me. Brandon picked a fight with Peyton and ended up right on time to school.  I was reading and teaching both classrooms but I couldn’t find the book! The leads hadn’t put the books back after the training session Wednesday night.  Luckily I have one available on text who contacted the one who had the books. I was not happy. Especially since I’d had the job in the past and hadn’t missed that job before.  Luckily there was a CNY assembly in the multi.  The dragon dance was entertaining the fourth grade kids until 9 am. I was waiting for them in the classroom when they arrived.  I presented the book for a half hour before coming home to post about it on their class website. Then I returned to school to do the same with Peyton’s class.  I had a mom observer shadowing me. We had about 45 minutes for this class.  After, I stopped by CDC for a cookie delivery then headed home to meet a mom for cookie distribution. We returned to school to pick up the lower graders. I took Peyton to Campbell and then she sold some cookies there.  I returned to pick up Brandon and then went to the other work site to distribute pre orders.  She got rid of most of them before we headed back home to get more clothes.  Peyton and i were going to drop Brandon off at Dave’s work then head up to SB city. We parked at my grandmas house and took the muni in with my aunt. We arrived and met with my parents at my dad’s office. My dad had just arrived from overseas and wanted to work.  My mom headed out to explore with us.  The venue was closed due to capacity for the free event and the line we were in was going nowhere.  They weren’t letting anyone in anymore. After thirty minutes of standing around we decided to explore. We found our way to the back of the stage.  There weren’t that many people in that area, but we could clearly hear the concert!  We hadn’t heard anything while standing in line. We heard about 5-6 more songs and knew them all.  I was carrying Peyton the whole time but leaning against a lamp post for support. After the concert, we headed to the pier for fireworks.  We had a pretty good view of the bridge with fireworks overhead.  After fireworks we went back to the office for a ride back.  Peyton sat in the middle without a car seat!!   She can reach the middle hump of the floor fine and luckily she’s long in the torso.  We did get passed by two luxury cars going 100 mph on either side of us. Our car shook!! And my dad doesn’t drive slowly. We arrived safely at my grandma’s house but I still had a long trek home. She lasted only until we reached her seat then she passed out. It was after midnight so she’d done a good job.  I carried her into the house, and had her take her shoes off. She didn’t move after that. I convinced her to come upstairs after I told her I’d sleep with her. She moved a bit faster.

This morning, we woke up at 7:30 am. I thought Brandon’s game was at 10 but it was at 9!! Dave was gone by 830 and I wasn’t ready yet. I was packing up cookies to take to our red egg and getting Peyton’s many changes of clothes ready.  She was in red egg clothes, but I had her basketball clothes for her game at three and Girl Scout clothes for the cookie selling booth after that.  I drove separately and met them at the game.  She was happy to not have to walk.  Or do her usual Saturday morning piano. Brandon’s team blew out the other team to the point the score was no longer kept on the score board (done after a 20 point lead).  The coaches were gracious to one another despite the outcome.  Dave dropped Brandon off at a birthday party with trampolines. I was watching the safety video and all there were shots of cartoons breaking their bones.  I went to get a card and bag for our red egg gift then met Dave at home.  We set a goal of selling twenty boxes at lunch. We were the first to arrive even before the host family. We met the grandparents of the honoree and since we’ve known them forever, they were there to greet us. They bought some right away. Later the two year old big sister came in. Her mom asked her to give JieJie a hug, and she went right up to her.  Peyton was stiff as a board!!  Soon my parents arrived, and we set up at a table. Peyton was slow to warm up but eventually she went to ask the families we knew. She made her way around and even had a marketing guy (the host’s brother) who was staking out how to help her sell best.  He figured there were 200 people there and if 10% bought from her she’d get her goal.  Well, she did.  She got to 20 boxes!!

After I was done talking and catching up with the families, we headed out. My parents had already left, and I hadn’t known!  Peyton fell asleep in the car. We had time to go home first, so she changed there.  I did, too. Soon, Dave texted Brandon’s party mom host.  She was tired and wanted kids gone.  I don’t blame her. She had eight boys plus her older daughter. She and the boy’s dad were shuttling kids around in their cars.  Dave picked him up and brought him back. He showered up then I took him to deposit cookie money while Dave took Peyton to basketball.  Brandon and I arrived shortly before the game started.  Tricia had all three girls solo since R was working. We gave f her birthday card Peyton had drawn and Brandon had written inside. The girls gave Brandon a pencil for his birthday. It’s a cool mechanical one just like g has. And g was rolling her eyes since it’s the same color as hers.  She started with her sister and mom then headed to Brandon’s side to sit with him and talk.  She was coloring in her adult coloring book and shared with Brandon who colored one bug.  R showed up in full gear mid shift to see the girls play. He’d just missed H score a basket, her first one!!  The girls did a good job then after the snacks, I took Peyton to the store where her troop was selling.  We stayed for over 2 hours selling there.  She was a bit shy but in a group, she helped out. She was the accountant helping make change and figure out how much each transaction was.  We left by 630 and went home to the boys.  We then drove back to the city for cny dinner with the family. We also celebrated Brandon’s birthday with cake and gifts.  We didn’t stay long as the kids were exhausted as were we.

Phew.
