Back to four

We made the most of our last day as a family of three. Peyton woke up at 9 as usual after Dave he left.  He’d slept downstairs for an early tee time. We rolled around for awhile before getting up. She was working on a knitting loom that she’d gotten for her birthday or Christmas awhile back.  She didn’t even ask for breakfast before I made her lunch. After lunch, around 12, I told her she needed to go lie down.  She had a birthday party to attend and I didn’t want a mess. She agreed and soon was asleep! We got home rather late but she was out! Even past the alarm I’d set. In the meantime, Dave had come home and went to lie down, too. Finally Peyton woke up and changed for swimming.  She was a bit slow to get ready. Dave didn’t want to come either, but he reluctantly changed and got going with us.

Peyton was one of the first to arrive and she hung out with the birthday girl while I hung out with her parents.  Dave went out to get coffee first to be a bit less social.

The kids played foosball during adult swim, jumped off the diving board and had a great time. There were lifeguards at different spots in the pool, and I didn’t have to hover! It was fabulous!! The party ended at 5 but the birthday girl wanted to open presents. Peyton was shy and didn’t want her to see her card or the books we’d gotten her. She wanted to shower up and not watch her open her gift. Even though S said she loved the presents!!  She showered off and changed into her party dress.  We said our thank you’S and goodbyes and headed up. I changed in the car while Peyton fished through her goodie bag.  We arrived just after my mom did and they were hanging with my uncle and aunt in the car.  We all walked in after finishing up changing.  Grandma was there and welcoming people to her party. We took big camera pictures and saw family in. Both sides of my family were there to celebrate since they know grandma, too.  The kids ate well initially then slowed down.  They can’t pace themselves well at a banquet.  They front load.  We did tell them no devices until after long life noodles.  Brandon kept looking out for the noodles as a result!  We had lotus buns and birthday cake.  My dad was notably absent as he’d left for a trip abroad a few days ago. Missing his MIL’s birthday party! Shame. At least his two of his siblings were there to represent. We brought Brandon home with us after a week away.  He got a skateboard!!  And pads and a helmet. Oh boy.

As Peyton was getting ready to brush her teeth, I told her to go brush with H daddy since he went to golf this morning. Her response: oh! He went golfing?! I asked her where she thought he was. She said “I thought he went to work!”  She told me she was ready to start school and that summer was “too long”.  Way to go! Of course she said that after she knew who her teacher was.
