This week has flown by. Yesterday, I got a call that Brandon wasn’t feeling well. I was on my lunch time walk, and I didn’t want to go out, but he was wanting to go home. He was slumped over in the nurse’s bed when I arrived 30 minutes later. He didn’t want to walk to the car, but after telling him I couldn’t carry him, he begrudgingly stood up. But he started to moan and groan, whining and crying about his stomach. I got him home, and he crawled upstairs to bed with a bowl in case he puked. Dave came home and then left to get Peyton. I took a nap, since I’d not gotten good sleep the night before. He came down still moaning and groaning, but more because I think he was bored and tired of being sequestered in his room. Dave came home but didn’t get Pedialyte as requested by Brandon. I later left to go get it. He had requested grape or orange if no grape. I did the best I could, and I got generic orange colored fruit something or other. He insisted he needed Pedialyte, brand only, but the pharmacist in me disagreed. He drank two cups, then went back to bed. He had a performance today, so I was worried about him not making it. I had taken work off to make it, so he HAD to be there. He’s been practicing for the past month or so. He has a character, and he had gotten his costume all together for it. This morning, he woke up with a head ache, but with two more cups of replacement solution (it’s generic Pedialyte, so I can’t call it that), and a full breakfast of eggs, ham and hash browns, he went to school. I saw him at noon, when he came in, and he was all dressed nicely in his ‘teacher’ / spy clothes. I had to wait until his character (Nathan Hale) was called.
It was a long presentation, about 2.5 hours. It was run by the same people who did the “walk through of California” last year. It seems like a long time, but the kids were really engaged and respectful of their peers. Here is Brandon’s, though he had his classmates talking to the proctor during his:
Here’s his fight scene:
And finally, they had the national anthem.

I left right away to go back to work for the rest of my time. I got home and the boys went to basketball practice, but not before Brandon had opened up the cologne samples of our SI magazines and rubbed it all over himself, while I stayed home with Peyton to read and do her piano. When the boys got home, we all had dinner. While we were cleaning up, we got a doorbell ring. We all four looked at each other, then the kids took off for the door. I ran out there with them, and there was a car parked on the opposite side of the street, and two people were taking off. Brandon said, “It’s a boy!” We did look at the door bell (cheaters) and saw it was Peyton’s classmate. I told her not to say anything to the boy, since we shouldn’t be using the doorbell camera.
Now, we have to go pixie our family sometime in the next few days…

This month’s character trait at school is caring. Brandon has a writing piece to draft and share with his class. He will be working at the warehouse to sort toys on Saturday. He was trying to ask Peyton what we did two years ago. Peyton will be sharing about Girl Scouts and her vest. Today she got a gift (holiday socks!) from her first grade teacher for helping in her classroom. She goes there once a week to volunteer. I love that she is contributing to school!
