Friday night crazies

Friday was the last “First Friday” of the summer. It was a Sausage party. Dave got potato salad and fruit along with his beer. I asked the kids not to fight with each other and play with their respective friends. Brandon had practice until 7 so I dropped off food ahead of time.  I went back to watch practice then we all headed over.  Peyton whined throughout practice to go to the party and when she got there, she was stuck to either Brandon or me with the adults. She didn’t want to play with the girls who were younger and more “girlie” ( her words).  So she hung with the boys. And there was no arguing.  After awhile, the kids were called back to eat. I still heard no complaints. Later in the evening, there were fireworks happening. I think I was better off not knowing.  We stayed past 10 pm and the kids went around to say thank you and good bye to our hosts. The dad told Peyton she was pretty brave with the fireworks. I asked her what scooter. She said the one she rode to David’s, Brandon’s classmate and cousin of the host. He lives nearby.  They did a drive by but she fell along the way.  Another boy, a year younger than Peyton checked on her. She was the only girl out of the five of them. And she was the youngest.  Brandon was on a scooter and in slides because of baseball.  And he had fallen, too! And neither wore helmets. Not sure if lice or head injury is worse. Fortunately, neither happened.  Some things I’m better off not knowing.
