Dark Ages

Since we’ve moved, we do not have a land line for the phone, cable TV or internet.  It’s been one week.  Holy moly!  We’ve only got the radio (and our smart phones, luckily), which is tuned to Christmas music.  A recap which is a blur from last week – we’re unpacking whenever the kids are sleeping.  As of this past Saturday, we are now landlords.  It was a relief to have everything out of the condo, and get it ready for the renters.  Dave made his last trip there just as they arrived with their rental truck and belongings.  The kids have transitioned pretty easily.  Of course, we’ve tried to keep their routines as consistent as possible.  The teachers have told me that Peyton joins in on their conversations, and they have to look at each other and say, “Did she just say that?”  She can say, “Up!” on occasion, definitely progressing beyond “Uh-oh.”  Mollie, her teacher, says she can sign and say “More”.  (Of course she can, the kid can eat!)  Brandon is still providing lots for us to talk about.  He had his performance this past Friday.  While we were lining up to the auditorium for seats, this mom in front of us kept turning around to look at us.  I didn’t notice, but Dave said he had.  She finally turned all the way around and said, “You guys look familiar for some reason.”  I am usually pretty good with faces, but I was drawing a blank.  She said, “Maybe with Kaiser?”  I told her that I worked there, in the clinical pharmacy department.  She shook her head.  She said she worked there, too.  I asked her where and she said, “The PICU.”  Suddenly, Dave remembered and said, “Oh, I know.  You put the IV in her arm,” and pointed to Peyton, who he was carrying.  Then she said, “That’s right!  I remember HER.”  I couldn’t believe she remembered us.  Peyton was only there for a few hours, and it was almost 10 months ago!!  Turns out her daughter is one class below Brandon.  We told her Peyton’s name, then she remembered, “Oh yeah, I remember because my co-worker’s daughter is named Peyton, too.”  Such a small world.
So we sat and waited for Brandon’s class to come up on stage.  The pulled back the curtain, and there they were, all lined up.  The entire class was dressed in red.  Brandon had his hands in his pockets (the safest place for them to be).  I don’t think he People do making mistakes when they connect behaviour of generic levitra prices their cat with a particular disease without talking to the professional.
