An Extra Day

We got so much more done on this extra long weekend! Peyton practiced piano early this morning, then I dropped her off at a birthday party at 11 am. It was a tea party theme, so she “dressed” up a bit. I had a hat for her, but she was not happy to wear it.

I told her to bring it, if others were wearing one, then she would wear it. When we got there, we were informed they were making head pieces, so I kept the hat. Oh, and slime, so I left the apron.

Brandon and I went to the grocery store, while Dave changed the oil in both cars. We then went to Indian food, as Peyton doesn’t like spicy food. Funny, the family that was hosting the tea party is Indian, and they were serving tea sandwiches. We got home, and Dave was sweeping the leaves, while I told Brandon I was going to pick her up. I think since she’s been gone now twice over the weekend, he gets totally bored without her. He won’t admit it. Ever. But he looks forward to her return. So, he happily came with me to go get her. She showed us her headband, polaroid photo of her and the bday girl, and the cookie favors. Oh, and the slime. She changed her clothes, and the kids were playing. But, it got too quiet, and then Brandon said, “Go tell Mommy,” while Peyton said, “Ok, I’m going to tell Mommy.” She was giggling, and then told us they were playing hide and go seek, and she fit into the dryer. Dave was super mad, as that is a new dryer, and it was not designed to hold her kind of weight. Sigh. We went to get some car parts at the dealership, to the mall to potentially return a sweater that Brandon received, only to find out, without a receipt, it was not worth returning. Then, we all went to the gym. I’d called ahead and asked what the minimum age for treadmills and other cardio equipment. I was told it was at least 8. Perfect! Brandon was excited to run, while Peyton was a bit hesitant. I stood next to her while she got started. At 2 mph. She was walking funny, and I told her to walk normally. She got used to it, after Dave had clipped her in to make sure the emergency break-away mechanism was engaged. She was excited to watch Tv, so the two kids were talking across my treadmill (I didn’t want them together) to compare tv stations. Brandon was fine, as Dave was on his other side. He was running at a max of 6.7 mph. I wanted them to run at least 2 miles. Peyton was fiddling with her clip, and accidentally stopped the machine. She continued, but I think she was the last to finish up. She had to add up the two pieces of her workout. Lesson learned for her. While we were walking out of the parking lot, I asked her how she liked it. She said she did, and I told her she ran 2 miles! One more mile, and she’d have run a 5K! She was super excited. I reminded her that she didn’t even throw up! Both kids were weirded out thinking that, even though they were in the parking lot, they still felt they were on a treadmill running. Brandon wanted to run more! It’ll help with their conditioning, especially, as Peyton was struggling during her basketball games.

We ended with dinner out, and going to a Japanese grocery store for some items. Short week ahead!
