Our Little Man

Today I was taking Peyton to school. I leaned down to give Brandon a hug, and he said, “Bye, cuties!”  I gave him his hug then turned to leave. He said, “Mommy!”. I was a little rushed and he said, “Remember to drive safely.”. Today was our parent teacher conference with Miss Alicia. She has been the most instrumental in Brandon’s success at the new school. She gave us some good feedback telling us Brandon is well-liked at school and is one of the leaders of the class. They have to channel his energy. She showed us his artwork and some writing samples. She told us she asked him to draw a picture of a person and had to stop him at one. She said he probably could draw a whole village and tell a story about each person. She recounted how Brandon has been telling all the teachers about what we are doing with the backyard and eventually he and Peyton will get to play back there. We were so surprised how much he has shared (or what he knows) about the progress. She said he totally takes everything in.  We know he can use context clues or maybe even spell. Dave was bringing home pizza from work and he spelled, “P-I-Z-Z-A”. I asked him how many slices. He said he had two. Brandon blurted out, “I want pizza”. Dave said, “I never said ‘pizza’.  How did you know what I am talking about.”.  Pretty soon we’re not going to be able to get away with anything!  The teacher also said our boy can EAT!  He eats three and four servings of snacks. I did ask about juice, and they can only have one small cup then it’s water only.  I could just imagine him guzzling it.
So the teacher did want us to continue with his stubborn ways. It is a far cry from where he was when he started. He will be one of the first to transition to the four year old room when there is a space open.  We’re headed to our favorite place to celebrate Brandon’s birthday, but it’s pouring rain now. Too bad for having winter babies.
