Peyton’s 10th birthday

Peyton loves dogs. We visited the shelter for a Girl Scout event a couple of years ago. I learned they held birthday parties so we scheduled Peyton’s birthday there. But then her softball coach, who was also invited and accepted, scheduled a scrimmage game!

We were excused to leave early, but we were on the field by 8 am. The other team arrived late, so they were delayed all the way around. After her final at bat, I walked up to the coach who called Peyton to come out. She’d just nailed the pitcher with a hard hit ball back to her. Unfortunately, she picked it up and threw it to first for the out. Peyton wasn’t sure why she was getting called out of the game. She didn’t know what time it was. I waited for what seemed forever. She said she was waiting for the inning to be done.

We hit every red light on the way over.

We arrived at the same time as some of the guests.
