Little league

Today we checked out a little league game with Brandon’s former coach from last year, his friend, Clay, one of Peyton’s classmates, Jayden (a 5th grader), two girls (a sister of one of her classmates now) and one of Brandon’s current teammate’s little brother playing against a family friend coach, who coaches a set of twins with the last name “Hamburger”.

It was a close game when we arrived. Peyton ended up keeping the scoreboard as the dad doing it got up to take over coaching first base, when the current coach had to leave. She’s done it before and can keep track. Brandon was trying to tell her otherwise but she knew. When her classmate came up to bat, he looked up at her behind the plate. He proceeded to smack one into center field! Too bad it was right into the center fielder. He ended up doing that again but not hitting as hard. He was playing short stop, which is where Peyton plays 99% of the time. He had one error but then made a crucial throw for out number three when the bases were loaded. The hamburger twins ended up both pitcher with someone noting, “They’re burning the ‘Burgers (who will both be away at science camp next week)!” In the end, the home team couldn’t find one more run to extend the game or walk it off. Brandon got to see friends, eat cornuts and chips, and get psyched up for his own games later tonight!
