Daddy’s home!

Dave landed earlier than expected this morning, but not soon enough to see the kids before they went to school. Apparently, they scared each other in the house. They each knew about the other one being home or coming home, but they both appeared in the hallway at the same time and freaked each other out.  My mom went to get Peyton, who gave Dave a staredown before warming up to him.  I kinda knew that would happen.  Dave went to go get Brandon, who was just getting ready for outside time.  He calmly walked over to Dave, which I was surprised by.  He is learning how to walk in the classroom (after repeated reminders).  I was briefing Dave about what happened with us this week, since he wasn’t able to keep in touch with us much.  I told him about Brandon’s field trip, and how I packed him a PB&J (a treat for him).  He told me, “That might make me throw up.”   (Referencing the time at Disneyland in December that he randomly woke up at midnight and puked in the hotel after having a PB&J earlier in the evening.  That was the only thing different that he had eaten so we blamed that).  I told him I thought he’d be okay.  He said, “Maybe just the peanut butter, and no jelly.”  I said a little jelly was okay.  Then he said, “Okay, I want a jelly sandwich”.  I also told him that he took a picture with my mom at the museum, and he told her, “We did this before.”  My mom didn’t know what to think since she didn’t know if it were true, but came home and told me about it.  I told her we had taken a picture when we went last summer.  We’re not really surprised, but are amused that he can remember all these things, and it’s totally unprompted, because my mom had no clue what he was talking about.  I also showed him some great deals that I got with a friends and family this weekend – both for Brandon and me.  Brandon is growing out of his long-sleeved shirts.  Even in the summer, he still needs a layer when I drop him off in the mornings.  His long-sleeved shirts he’s wearing now are shorter than his undershirts.  The price before my 30% off was $4.97, and my mom asked if it had any holes.  Shoot, it had no obviously gaping holes, and for that price, it was sold!  Dave agreed – Brandon will either grow out of it faster than holes will appear, or he will be the one putting holes in it.  Or it will be a different color, courtesy of the pens, markers, etc at school.  We’re all glad Daddy’s back; probably no one more so than my mom.  She can go back to being retired now.  Thank you, Mom!
