Softball camp

Peyton attended a softball camp at UCLA this past summer and again this winter break. It was two days and only 25 girls!

A few of the same coaches were there in addition to the head coach, Kelly Inouye-Perez. Yesterday, she commented to Peyton that she had a nice swing. She asked her who her coach was and if she worked with her dad. Peyton just nodded. At the end of camp, when saying thank you, she said it again about her swing. Peyton won the throwing accuracy drill earning her a pair of sunglasses.

Today, she had lots of hitting with another coach, Pep. But coach I called her over to talk.

She looked so nervous. Like hyperventilating. But she had good things to tell her. But after camp was done, we were in line to say bye. She took pictures with the coaches:

She was nervous as she’d not taken one before. But we practiced and she did well!

Coach talked to us for about five minutes then called us back to give us her card. She basically said P stood out from the other campers. She gave Dave, me and Peyton herself a card. She told us to continue to attend camps for exposure. And later on, in seventh grade, she can come to the elite camps. We’re doing all that we need to at this point and as long as she loves the game, she’s headed in the right direction!
